As an experienced fish keeper, I’m actually excited about this. I have Glo tiger barbs and love them. I have 6 tanks but only one with Glo’s and it’s fun to watch them under the blue lights.
@@thenerdyfishgirl definitely. Although I also have regular tiger barbs, green barbs, Denison barbs and I love them all ;). I know the fish community can be full of snobbery especially when it comes to Glo’s but I still like being able to watch fish “in the dark” under the blue lights. Do you know what kind of corys they used as the Glo variety?
I’ve got a shark, danios and long fin tetras in a 37g fully planted tank. It’s my favorite tank. They make everything pop and they are so relaxing at night to fall asleep too imo. I even got a galactic purple female beta last night. Never saw that color before. So I set her up in a heavily planted 5g for now. I’ve got a 10g she will go in as soon as I can move the small baby shrimp to their other tanks.
You are right about the snobbery when it comes to the GloFish, my only problem with them has been the lack of good information about them coming from the company. Growing up in the 80's and 90's I can appreciate the neon colors. I believe the glo corydoras came from corydoras aeneus.
@@thenerdyfishgirl great! Thank you so much! I feel like I actually found a lot of information about Glo’s online. Once the genetics are done, they are just regular fish and not harmed or made to suffer. Yes, it is monkeying around with nature but so is everything else we do in science and medicine. Ethically I have no problem with it.
Glofish, controversial as they may be, are the reason I got back into this hobby in the past few months after 25 years away, and I've done TONS of research on every single fish we're considering, who can go with who, all that fun stuff, only a few of which are glofish for this first tank, because it's the Fluval Flex 9 gallon that I'm starting out with, so having to stick with small glofish, other micro fish mostly, and shrimp. Maybe a snail.
I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the Priscilla Glofish sense they came before the corydoras, plus I know the Priscilla Glofish are modified from Pristella tetras(or x-ray tetras) and I can never find any care guide for the Pristella tetra anywhere on UA-cam
Iv had such a hard time finding them till yesterday i kept making calls to my local shops no one has them anywhere.i got lucky and found a bunch at petco but they all looked faded out there was only one bright green i had to get him
So I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 glow danios and just got a glow Cory and he’s been very active the 1st 3 days I’ve had him now not so much. My friend that is big into aquariums said I could put one more with it but that would be the limit on my tank. Doing a 25% water change every week. Is the reason my Cory stopped being as active because he needs another?
Why not start to take the melanin patterns of dart frogs to glofish…that would be a shiny variant Bacteria bioluminescence vs oxidizing chemical bioluminescence
It's sad that Glofish is accepted so much in the fish keeping hobby. The people who sell them only care about money nothing more. Nothing beats the original fish in its purist form.
I only have one tank with glo fish tetras and 1 of my fish got mouth rot or some of it started to dispersed now he died do yk if that was caused by a fight or is there mouth rot ?
I got some and they school together with my albino corys. Very cool looking fish.

I must say, of all the GloFish, the tiger barbs are my favorite 😀

Nice video 👍
Thank you 😀
I went with two traditional Cory’s in my five gallon and they are very entertaining, thanks for the education.
20 gallon. 6 Cory.

I will be getting a video up on this hopefully in the next month 😀

What type of corydora was modified
No actual footage of them = big sad
The most underrated comment on this video
Do glofish glow in the dark? 🌑
They glow under black light
Why not start to take the melanin patterns of dart frogs to glofish…that would be a shiny variant
Bacteria bioluminescence vs oxidizing chemical bioluminescence
That could make for a really interesting looking fish!
looking good girl hit me up lets talk
I like you where are you from
Why the hell am I watching general Cory info instead of the title? Click bait :p
They are literally a albino but with jelly fish dna make them glow
