A useful guide on GloFish care that you should not miss. It provides in-depth insight into how to care for these unique ornamental fish, creating a healthy and enjoyable environment for them.
GloFish is one of the most beautiful types of fish for many fishkeepers to own. Finding the best tank size for Glofish is a must. We should also pay attention to the lighting, so that the fish can live comfortably in our aquarium. Thank you so much for doing this video.
Thank you. I agree, the recommend tank sizes are way off and some of these glofish species actually prefer dimmer tanks. Both things that need to be considered for long term health
Tank size is definitely a must!
People say 10 gallons is fine or 20 is a minimum, but the truth is most of these species need at least a *30* gallon tank or larger (especially the glo shark)
And lighting is an aspect that often feels overlooked
In the wild fish tend to live in dark environments, bright lights beaming down on them can be stressful and makes them feel exposed to potential threats
Intriguing! The GloFish care guide seems to offer a unique perspective. Thanks for sharing this information that Tetra may not want us to see - it's always great to have comprehensive care insights for our aquatic friends.

GloFish are genetically modified zebrafish that exhibit fluorescent colors due to the insertion of fluorescent protein genes. Their unique fluorescent traits have made them valuable tools in scientific research, enabling the study of gene expression and environmental impacts on aquatic organisms.
THERE’S. A. BETTA?! 😮 “THE HUNT, IS ON!!!”

I got a tank that auto switches from blue to white depending on the time. Got some live plants in there while being able to enjoy the blue lights making them glow. But now I got a duckweed problem.
I have a 4ft X 2ft X 1.5 Ft aquarium. I have live plants in my tank and 50 glow tetras I have 2 Led lights installed with 3 colour option blue, white and rainbow I have one large submersible filter pump on one side of the aquarium which is creating bubble , flow and filters. Is my setup okay
Sadly we dont have this fish here in the UK for some wierd reason 😕
Finally. I love it. The tiger returns
And his rage GLOWS lol
MY LOCAL BIG AL’S STORE HAS A GLO-AXOLOTL, GREEN.
Oh wow - that’s the first I heard of them. That’s cool!
Thank you, can these fish swim together?
Some can while others can’t. The danios and Cory catfish do best with each other on this list.
Great though boss thanks 😊
Gold fish must be very carefully cared and really they are so much nice looking. Great though boss thanks...🥰
Thank you 😊
Is it normal for long fined glofish tetras to shrink coz one of mine seems to be shrinking they look nd seem healthy nd happy just trying to find out if it's normal
I don’t think it is unless it’s been throughout the years as they are older and bigger. Are you seeing bite marks or other signs of stress?
We bought our first glofish Saturday with the 5 gallon glofish tank kit. We are beginners so the store employee advised we could get the shark fish and other glofish tigger barb. We bought 8 fish. Set up the tank .. the filter seemed really big for the tank. Seemed like the fish were struggling with the pull of the filter. One day later 4 of the fish are dead. And the water looked cloudy just one day from buying. I am not sure what happened.any ideas ? Obviously i made some mistake and now im down 4 fish.
Sounds like the tank was overstocked and not cycled. Poor advisement from the fish store
How many glofish danios do you recommend for a 15 gallon tank?
I was say 7 with adequate filtration and assuming the tank is longer than tall. Be wary of glofish's recommendation - they have an inflated number for how many they say you can keep.
@@AquariumStoreDepot I have a Fluval flex tank. Are 7 fish plus 3 small shrimp okay? The fish store told me 12 to 16 glofish. 😳
@@jennifertsang6572 Shrimp aren't a big factor in bioload in small numbers. Just watch out if they breed like crazy. The fish will probably pick off the baby shrimp.
We decided to get glofish for our first fish ever. Well I believe after watching this, we may have made some mistakes already. We got the 10 gallon glofish tank kit and was told by the store employee that they’re schooling fish but to introduce them to the tank a few at a time. We asked him which ones would get along and he said the ones we picked out were just fine. We got a red tiger barb, an electric green tetra, and a blue long fin neon tetra. Sounds like that was a bad idea. How do I fix this my issue? I don’t have enough tank space to add more of each for them to properly school together. He told us the ones we got would all school together which is obviously not right. Do I add more regular glo tetras and more longfin tetras and hope for the best with the ONE tiger barb I have? Or do I add more tiger barbs so they aren’t as aggressive from being alone? Please help! 😩
Oh wow - the best way to fix the issue is to give back the incompatible fish to the fish store. For that size danios and corydoras work best

I also forgot to mention in the video that GloFish are protected by a patent. Which they breed easily in the aquarium, you cannot sell them. I have more details outlined in my blog post about their breeding habits.
Glofish can be purchased online from Petco online (they ship from wholesalers). Otherwise, your local fish store is your best bet. aquariumstoredepot.com/tetra-gf/
And yes - I know Taylor says Danio wrong. I roasted him a little but the rest of the VO came out so well I published it as it. TIGER THE BARBARIC RETURNS!
The GloFish patent expired about 5 years ago. Anyone is free to do anything with them, including breeding and selling them as long as the brand name is not used.
@@willie346 here is the patent info for people to know - patents.justia.com/assignee/glofish-llc
These are actually insane fist love it i want to see in real
Would it be okay to house only 3 electric green barbs in a 10gal tank?
No - too small of a tank long term
I live in trinidad and i think the green glo fish is the rearest
The fish were actually supposed to detect polluted waters… And then it was bought up by the corporation that now owns the patent.
Yes the Danio was bred to do that then Tetra got the rights
Betta fish are the only goldfish that is Carnivorous
I can’t find globettaasss anywhere
They stopped supplying them recently. Maybe they'll release them again. They didn't do well in sales since they competed with premium breeds of bettas
I have 3 Glofish Danios in a 2.5 gallon tank and i have not had a problem even though it should not be less than 5 gallons.
Fish are resilient and will tolerate a smaller tank - it’s just not the most optimal for them.
It shouldn’t be less than *10* gallons, really 20
Zebra danios are HARDY fish that can survive even the cruelest conditions, but that doesn’t make it right
They’re super active swimmers that need lots of space to live their best lives
I hate glofish , they are inhuman and unethical. Modification at genetic level just to create a business niche is simply unacceptable. BTW I've seen at least 12 different colour of widow tetra and 6 different color of tiger barb . I did buy danios without knowing that they were glofish . Those fishes were long tail and very very fragile. Died one or two at every water change, they were below average sige too . After discovering their truth I finally got the original danios ( after a lot of searching) and they were bigger, better, faster and didn't kept dying with water changes . I have taken a note not to buy any glofish whatsoever. Very recently I saw electric yellow labs as glofish , it was pinkish . This needs to be end .
Technically lots of breeding even with clownfish, goldfish, and bettas are in essence genetic breeding to get certain traits breeders want where ethics could be stated.
That’s the first I’ve heard of lab cichlid as glow fish. I’m actually in close contact with the glofish team since I’ve met them at Aquashella and my friend is working on a sign deal with them. They actually introduced me to the pristellas. I was one of the first to ever see them when they were first revealed.
My biggest issue with them is the lack of proper care information which is why I made the video. They are purchased by a lot of new hobbyist often for children and put in poor conditions. And they are more sensitive then their non genetic counterparts.
I see them different since they replaced the painted glass fish - which was far worse to me as these fish had dye injected into them. Some of the practices seen in the fishkeeping hobby is quite disturbing!
