Terrific water - and everything else.
Mini idea - the ships could be loaded with supplies and treasure and duty-free whisky.

    I love it!
Suggestion: Use cloth for the sails. Cut them to fit, put them on a curved surface and hit them with a heavy coat of hair spray so they maintain there shape. I build ship models and I always replace the crappy plastic sails with cloth. I actually use the plastic sails as molds for the cloth.

Haha, love it. Dad's workshop looks somewhat epic and I bet it's nice to use his tools. I like how the varnish transformed the painted surface to look like water. i would have thought that the thick hard board would have avoided warping, but--c'est la vie. Regardless, this is nice work. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers, --Bo

oh this is so nice. i used to make island dioramas back in 2007-2009 when i was in high school. i used toilet paper for the water and cotton and toilet paper for the islands. it's not really highly detailed islands. just shapes. i made japan and madagascar using this method on an A4 size chip board.

I really like that method of crafting water scenery for tabletop. I've the original vid, it was cool to see your version. I would like to see (and I would like to make heh) an entire 4x6 ocean board, maybe with some type of modular waves, and like I don't know fog? For a ship battle game.
