Also, the director of dmc who is also the director for dragons dogma already stated he wanted to make a second game. But he did dmc first, and then wanted to work on a new dragons dogma...and since dragons dogma is getting a show it's easy to speculate that the second game is currently in the making and most likely will appear on the new gem consoles.
Unpopular opinion, I guess: The Pawn system didn't feel like a band-aid for multiplayer to me, I would have never even bothered connecting to the internet or tolerating other people if it had online multiplayer. The Pawn system was definitively one of THE coolest aspects of the game to me, and the singular feature that I absolutely hope never changes in Dragon's Dogma 2? Like maybe offer the option to play with pawns or other people I guess, but the fact that you can legitimately teach your pawn battle mechanics, they pick up on you demonstrating weaknesses to them, they can learn those mechanics from accompanying other players online, and can even carry you through quests which they *know the steps of* because they accompanied a player in doing them, online. I want an expansion of it! More pawns, more cheesy dialogue! MASTAH, WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS! Edit: Never mind, I've only ever heard people whinge about Pawns and how they wish it was multiplayer, but I guess they're more popular than I gave them credit for!
Yeah I love the Pawn mechanic! It's unique and original. I like that the game makes you the main character and doesn't add any annoying party members with long backstories tied to the story. Sure the Pawns dialogue is bad, but they shut up unless they got something good to say unlike many other rpg companions. It lets me get more involved in the game's world. Plus I love how you can assign the role/class of your main Pawn, change it, get specific skills/abilities, etc. It's so cool crafting your own Party.
The pawn system is so fun and interesting, I can't take people seriously when they call it a "poor man's co-op." I will admit co-op would be phenomenal for this game, but what would be left for the pawn system?
I'm not really sure it's an unpopular opinion, at least not anymore. The Pawn system to Dragon's Dogma is like the Nemesis System to Shadow of Mordor, without it, you might as well be playing a different game, or not play at all. It's *the* defining feature of the game. Both mechanics can be enhanced and adjusted, sure, but the removal of them would hurt far more than a replacement would benefit. True co-op is not the same thing, and would most likely cause other systems and mechanics to be restructured for balance. I like how the Pawns are indirect multiplayer, with the (theoretical) polish of a single player. If someone is bad or aren't as knowledgeable at the game, and they build their pawn similarly, you can know and feel that just by hiring or not hiring their pawn and seeing how they do judging from their stats, gear, knowledge, and abilities. Conversely, with an incredible player, their main pawn would most likely be set up to synergize with their main class, which might just be yours, and you can stack power or cover a weakness in your own self-made party which might make someone else's pawn the cornerstone of your own singleplayer party. The Pawn system itself is not the problem for the most part, sans some quirks, it just boils down to the AI, and given technology and more focuses design, the sorta-kinda soft-confirmed Dragon's Dogma 2 which may or may not be in development since DMC5 released last year, could just perfect the indirect co-op system and genre. Or they can just tell me what goblins hate and wolves are weak to when appropriate, that works too.
THEY'RE MASTER WORK- THEY'RE MAST- THEY'RE MASTER WORKS AL- THEY'RE MA- THEY'RE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CAN'T GO- THEY'RE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU- THEY'RE MASTER- THEY'RE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CAN'T GO WRONG
I thought that NPCs were immortal so I threw an explosive barrel at the only merchant I could buy decent weapons and armor from and I needed him to level up so after many hours of playing I pretty much got soft locked because I wasn't powerful enough to bare getting stun locked by goblins and harpies to progress to the next town.
Knavenformed I’ve still yet to watch it simply because my roommate is using my Netflix to watch Hunter x Hunter and he’s almost done and I don’t wanna cut him off
here's a bit of info: the game is only 20% of what the creators envisioned Capcom rushed the product so the small, empty world, that has the same scripted bosses are their fault not on the game's devs
Ehhh, not really. Did you watch their post mortem? They planned 'bigger', not denser. They planned more combat, not a more fleshed out world, story or better quest design. Some of the stuff they had planned seems really cool, but what it wasn't the solutions to the final game.
I played online before they cut the servers, and the world was so SO much larger, like you have no idea. They are for sure making a sequel too, and their "tests" be re releasing it completely blew their expectations, so expect a large budget alongside it. Also. GOBLINS ILL LIKE FIRE, ARISEN!!!!
@@andrewg4412 Dragons dogma online was not developed by Capcom and is a completely different game. I've actually been looking for a way to play Dragons Dogma online as I didn't know about it while the servers were up. I'd be happy to play it singleplayer, although I imagine that's probably not possible.
@@7dayspking same engine, and feels like the same game but with a bunch of new classes. You won't get to play it now, but they likely did it because the playerbase was dwindling. You know, despite a TON of people literally begging to have it in the west. Either way with the anime and the closure of the online, and the fact a certain hideaki I think his name is, chose DMC instead of Dragon's Dogma, goes to show it's very well headed for next gen. And soon.
@@andrewg4412 'same engine' not exactly. 'Feels like the same game' not from what I saw. Clearly built from Dragons dogma but it appeared to be a fully fledged MMO.
i agree, and in Online they made it even more interactive. it's sad they shut the servers down and never brought it over here in the west, but the small amount i did get to play it. it was a blast
The moment this game slipped into my all time favorites was also on the Griffon battle. But it was because I'd given a forgery of Salomets Grimoire to that one guy, and when he shows up to help you during the battle the fuckin thing doesn't work and he gets murdered.
@@myfirsttea turning in forgeries is amazing, it's just this nice little touch that turns the arisen into a giant greedy dickhead. I always get a fake of the ring you retrieve for the duke too. Guy's a asshole, and i need the casting time reduction.
I heard Capcom gave him the choice between DDDA sequel or DMCV and he chose Devil May Cry. Capcom has been getting a lot of success from bringing back a ton of their old Ips. I hope the upcoming anime is a hint at a potential sequel.
Dragon's Dogma is one of my favorite games of all time. Years ago when I picked Dark Arisen up on steam, it seemed like a game that reviewed fairly positively but there wasn't a lot of talk about it online. For the first time since I was a kid, I didn't quite know what kind of game I was going into, and every secret I found in the world or even the item system and game mechanics blew my mind. There are intricacies in the combat that I'm still trying to master. There is verticality in the level design that hides all kinds of secrets above and below you so exploration is greatly rewarded. Telling friends about it a week or two later felt like exchanging game rumors on the playground like it was the mid 1990s again. I'm not sure a game gave me such childlike wonder in a long time. The mid to late game and Bitterblack Isle cemented this Dragon's Dogma in my top 5 for sure.
@@del46_60 It helps that the Pawn mechanic is so original, diverse, and interchangeable. They don't have a long tragic backstory or contribute to the main plot. They keep their mouths shut unless they got important details. Letting you pay more attention to the game's world and explore!
actually he started by taking over the direction of dmc2 part way through. supposedly what they released was a notable improvement on what they had before his arrival. I'd pay a year of my life to know how fucking awful it was before he got his hands on it.
Hopefully rather than removing features the sequel improves on it strong suits and builds a world, story, mechanics and bestiary to better fit the main appeal of the game, giant boss fights
They should for sure keep everything as is and simply improve upon it. I personally believe the game doesnt need any real multiplayer, but instead a type of co-op system, where your friends can join in on your world and in place of your pawns. I think a type of multiplayer open world system like destiny would ruin the feel of the game
I adore this game with a passion. This is probably one of the games that made me fall in love with Capcom and what they are capable of doing. Despite all its flaws, I cannot recommend it enough. I do hope that we see a second game in the series soon. DD Online sort of pushed the series in a better direction so i hope we can see that again soon.
One of my favorite things to do in Dragon's Dogma is selling the DLC equipment for fat stacks of cash, buying more throwblasts than the a well-armed military, and going into Bitterblack Isle at low level. You can easily murder the small enemies with throwblasts or by throwing them off cliffs. And well-timed throwblasts at bosses' weakpoints deal massive damage. At the same time, one or two mistakes can spell death. Fun times all around.
"The road splits, let's make doubly sure of which will lead us to our destination." Immediate followed by "IT BARES THE HEAD OF A COCK!" The first time I ever heard them say that I was so confused that I got petrified by the cockatrice blast and died because I didn't have any softener on me.
My favorites are "INSOLENCE!" and "MY ATTACK DID NOTHING!" The pawns are so sincere, yet so indescribably thick-headed. So endearing, you've gotta love 'em.
This game's ending really got me, with its theme of an endless cycle. It had some fundamental questions that actually got me into philosophy. If you lost that last battle you are damned to become the dragon waiting for the next arisen to slay you and set you free, if you win on the other hand you become some sort of god but with what seems an empty existence, then you seppuku yourself with the godsbane and as you fall you die but you gift your pawn with apparently free will and some semblance of a human existence. It had some deep themes. Of course the gameplay is great too.
Dragon's Dogma inspired me in so many ways that critically changed my perspectives on fantasy art. I became since then obsessed with the idea of Monster Hunting with intricate dark fantasy themes, and I still write fiction based on that to this day. While plain and uncanny, the cliche fantasy land of Gransys is incredibly charming for me, and the english is so impressively fitting for an Olde Epic it really immerses you despite the rigidness. What little story and character there was, I was truly charmed by the delivery. I wish in a future sequel, among the improvements for proper co op and a coherent story line, they can add more iconic monsters, with their unique Capcom spin. I definitely remember how every encounter felt like a great slaying. My favorite fight was against the Bitterblack Isle Gazer, but I love the idea of casually hunting down chimera, collecting its body parts like freakish claws and manes and using it to improve my gear. I love how each monster has unique loot based on its body.
It's great when you run into a fellow Dragon's Dogma fan in the wild and the two of you proceed to nerd out about everything you love about the game while everyone else around you finds themselves wondering what they missed.
The moment that I knocked down a cyclops and the epic music started playing, I was hooked. One of my all time favorite games. More people should play it.
9:40 so the thing is. The Pawn AI CAN be good. Their performance however is mostly decided by their Knowledge of Enemies (and inclinations of course) so if they know how to fight Fighter Bandits real good but they come across a Fighter Skeleton for the first time, they'll be a bit crappy.
The single biggest factor to how effective your pawns are the Inclination mechanic and what skills you equip them with. There's YT videos explaining the Pawn Inclination mechanic in-depth. Some Pawn setups are so insanely strong that they can allow your Pawn to solo Daimon himself, without you literally doing anything except helping during his banishing attack. A lot of people just don't understand how pawns work. But once you know how to properly equip and utilize them, they actually become ridiculous to the point of making Bitterblack Isle almost easy.
This game basically sealed my affections at the tower griffon fight as well. I don't think my first experience was nearly as epic as yours though. Also, this game set a bar for magic/spells in an ARPG that I've never really seen topped. Even crazier is the fact that the high tier spells are used by ENEMIES too. I was never ready to get sucked into a tornado.
Yeah but spending half your time running between fights and the other half waving your hands around hoping you don't get interrupted doesn't make for great gameplay.
Since 2012 there's barely been any open world action RPGs. Only several that weren't modern day, post apocalyptic or Sci Fi and like one or two that even had magic in it. Primarily recent RPGs have been late 90s inspired point and click. I'm not going to argue Dragon's Dogma has 'better magic' than they do.
FF7, skyrim(lol), dark souls 3 In term of presentation though, NOTHING come close to magic presentation to dragon dogma, no game have ever emulate meteor best than high bolide
@@somechinesedude5466 Oh ok. So both Skyrim and FF7 released before 2012. Final Fantasy 7 has a future setting, is not an action rpg and not an open world. Dark souls 3 isn't an open world action rpg. So 0 examples.
They will do dragons dogma 2, the director of the game said in an interview that he was deciding between dd2 or devil may cry 5, so we are getting the sequel next
@@abde999 Considering Devil May Cry 5 exists and Dragon's Dogma 2 doesn't, which do you think he chose? Still, it shows it's being considered. It'll happen at some point.
Heresy that they took it out of DA. Still remember booting up DD for the first time and just being completely surprised by some cheesy jrock suddenly blasting out of my TV.

So happy to hear someone else talk about Dragons Dogma!! It's still one of my favorite games to be made! It's interesting to watch this and hear your critiques that you have, that are all true, but was something I never really thought about. I LOVE the combat and it really carried me so far in the game! I do wish the difficulty was adjusted a bit better, you're either getting fucked, or you're the one fucking. There's no comfortable in between. Amazing video!
Imagine not wanting to inject steroids and then hit somebody with gods wrath. Also I once survived a maelstrom by just spamming healing items but then the fall when it was over one shot me
"Assassin has the flashiest moves" *>laughs in Sorcerer* Can you summon Tornado´s that literally throw your enemies around the map? Can you call Meteors that devestate the entire battlefield? Yeah didnt think so.
I'd rather not waste so much time casting said spells when I can kill anything faster with my bow, or better yet, not accidentally step on a slightly sharp branch and suddenly have aaaaaall that effort go to hell. I'll stay with my strider, but thanks for the occasional tornado, I guess.
@@AdoreYouInAshXIwhat makes a game "good" is subject to opinion. The game itself wasn't bad at least imo. the gameplay was solid borrowing from fast paced action games like devil may cry, with a big monster diversity of monster hunter, and the boss battles of Shadow of the Colossus where you grab on to the monsters and do damage while riding them almost. the story may have been weak to some, with the main narrative been real obvious to anyone who's played a jrpg, or watched an isekai anime. but i think the game's quality lies in it's gameplay, and not it's story. The game itself didn't sell many copies as to why could be a number of reasons, but as someone who played both versions of the game i genuinely loved the game and fighting in it will never be not fun. Editor's Note: Just realized you ment the anime not the game, yeah the anime is hit or miss it's not that great, but if you're curious to see it go for it. i watched it to see how the similairities between the game and anime went. it was... okay.
@@Mr.Moustache2 Thanks for the detailed response. Being a big fan of Dragons Dogma back in the day I was hoping the anime would have been decent. It's really hard to find a good dark fantasy anime (I'm not really into anime anymore now that I'm in my 30's, but I'll always love Berserk lol).
About the lantern complain, everything you pointed at was wrong lol, once the oil on the lamp runs out it wont turn back on unless you add more oil, once you get drenched with water you CAN dry it off with spells or items just like oil , are you padding the sin count bro?
This game was actually unfinished. That's the saddest part of it all. What you have in Dragon's Dogma is literally like the barebones slate of the game, there was a lot more Hideaki Itsuno planned to do/add, but Capcom happened (As it often does). Even letting the creator finish this game as he wanted in a remastered/complete edition would be worth it, if not a second one.
Desperately needs a sequel. As much as i love Monster Hunter: World. I wish capcom would spend that much time nurturing their other IPs, case in point Dragon's Dogma. I played this game for months and months when i was without internet, and it became one of the best games i've ever played. There's not much to story, or sidequests, but the combat and magical moments you get make up for it. I can only pray that the tease about a sequel wasn't a joke, but an inevitable promise.
I was annoyed by pawns too, but then, when a harpy dropped me off a dangerous height with only a silver of health and my last save point was two hours ago, my pawn straight up caught me before I hit the ground and saved my life. I fell in love with all their quirks and chatter then and there. I don't care if they told me the same thing 100x. I love them inspite of it.
I honestly think a Dragon’s Dogma sequel has the potential to be the best game ever made if they fix all the first game’s shortcomings and expand combat further.
@@JR-vt7rb no I'd have to disagree. I love the game but the combat gets annoying. There should be a reliable evade for all classes and not just a clunky dodge roll for the strider. When grabbed on there should be a way to tighten your grip that way when enemies start shaking around you can hang on but obviously it would cost stamina. Plus a spear class wouldn't hurt.
@@matabishippuden6965 yeah i agree that a spear class would be sick BUT but butt i don't see the problem with having different classes with different play styles, strider-fast dodgy class, fighter/warrior-tanky melee, mage/sorcerer-long range support passivedestructive class and hibryd classes for more flexibility, each vocation is unique and well done for different play styles, you cant deny that miniboss fights are straight up epic (cyclops, quimeras, griffins, etc) , in hard mode i have beaten golems at Lv 15 with the strider class (the dodge is on point trust me on that), it has flaws of course but nothing is perfect in this world bro, that said i think the combat is perfect and although it could be enhanced i dont see the need for that, BUTT the writting is just awful, the characters are poorly developed and most of npc encounters lead nowhere, if they are to release a part 2 i would want them to focus on the storytelling aspect because there's where the game failed misserably, but i get your point i used to get frustated at first when i went to bitterblack isle as a sorcerer and got my crap pushed in in the nastiest way, once i got used to the play style of each vocation i became a god like creature because every vocation is overpowered with the right gear and perks
I will never forget the first time I use that Ranger skill 'Gamble' to kill a Cyclops in one hit, that one where the camera tracks the arrow and you can control it.. like HOLY FREAKING SHIZNIT! one of the coolest moments of my gaming life
With the amount of quality in these videos I been waiting on that KBash sub count to pop off any time now. Good shit man, I watched like half your library over the last couple months and didn't even realize I didn't ever sub and literally asked myself how?

About the filling and drying the oil lantern. You can refill it. combine a flask of oil to the lantern and it refills. If you're soaked, use a clean rag to dry off. Absorbent rags takes oil off you so you don't ignite yourself with a lantern are fire enchantment if you're coated in oil.
I fell in love with this a game a few years ago, I do see it's shortcomings but I just don't mind them. I have tried every class but in the end I just go back to the class that sealed the deal for me in this game. That would be the sorcerer. Sure some people hate the system and it is stale at the beginning, but I love everything about it. All the spells later on feel so impactful! Being able to turn someone to stone, create tornados, giant ice spikes, the feeling of pulling off that instant death spell, all of it is just....amazing! This game holds a place in my heart because of the literal magic it held and everything you could do.
Another great thing about Dragon's Dogma is the weight/height system, your stamina/strength and climb speed are affected by how tall and heavy your character is. My first run through was with a standard human archer, but my second run through was with a tiny goblin assassin girl that can scale up a cyclops so fast that the archer builds were useless. There are also area's and secondary paths you can take with smaller characters that you're just too big for with others.
There's a lot of this review that just says "don't understand or didn't engage many of the mechanics of the game", but also showcases a bunch of things I never did. That's how great of a game this is. Completely unique experiences among players experiencing the same content.
I advise you to replay it. Build According to the wiki fandom to have enormous stamina. Dark Arisen version has armor piece with OP stats. Romances are depending on which items you gift to whoever. Each monster has weaknesses also pawns will direct you on quest and combat with monsters the more times you fight or complete them.
Here is what you got wrong about Dragons Dogma. Most of your gripes are purposeful design choices. Let's start with the story because this is the one everyone gets wrong. The story in DD is a masterclass in videogame stories. The twist at the very end reveals it. The story is the relationship between MC and main pawn. Since you created both and taught your pawn how to behave and fight, the story is mostly in the hands of the player. The restricted fast travel, oppressive night cycle, grueling travel and difficulty curve all aid the actual story. In DD you are the hero, the mentor to the future hero and the main villain. The streamlined main story quest was also a design choice. The game doesn't just have new game plus. New game plus is a major facet of the game and story. The main quest is minimally intrusive because it isn't the main story. Again the real story is the relationship between you and your main pawn. The game was indeed rushed but the problems people have with this game are generally purposeful design choices that the player did not understand and therefore can't respect.
I love KBash content. It’s fun to watch whatever vid he uploads even if I’ve never played a lot of these. I often don’t leave comments but it tells the YT algorithm recommend this channel to more viewers. 😁
I was around 7 years old when I played this game. I had so much fun exploring, doing missions, and killing monsters as a Ranger and Assassin. I wasn’t amazing at the game, which is probably why I chose those two classes, but I had my fun, for me it was more fun to play Dragons Dogma than Cod or any other game. Still kinda salty I never killed Daimon’s second form, I’ve probably died at least 7 times before I gave up, oh the great ole times.
Last time I tried ONCE AGAIN to start this game, I also made myself as the protagonist... it was hilarious lol. The character creator is so fun. A shame the rest of the game feels so plain to me.
@@bullno1 I call it that and I've finished it multiple times. It is tedious, barren, repetitive, half assed, unfinished and lazy all over. But obviously does some things well.
Exact same boat I'm in right now. I didn't even get that far into the game. I binged it for a couple days, told some friends about how awesome it was, then stopped cause I got occupied with life and everytime I've thought to pick it back up since..eh. Hard to explain I just feel content being done with it despite finding it really good.
The thing that makes the game so hard to get back into for me at least is the fast travel system its so needlessly restrictive and having to spent 20 mins clearing wave after wave of goblins bandits harpies and those stupid lizards just to get to the next town just drains any desire I have to replay the game
@@darkomihajlovski3135 You know that the game gives you the infinite ferrystone when you reach Gran Soren right? Unless you are playing the OG version of Dragon's Dogma on ps3 or xbox 360

This game was one of the best RPG games along with skyrim. I Remember Playing this all day on the PS3 and now I even have the game on PC now, I would always go back to the game whenever I feel like playing it. Beated the game like 8x the Pawn System was amazing. And you can hire other players pawns too. There's many classes to pick from. I would always go with Mystic Knight and sometimes warrior.
Once you figure out the mechanics of the game it becomes much easier, you discover which which monsters to avoid at certain levels. Learning to start as a bow/dagger class starts you out with higher stamina. I’ve learned that your pawn emulates your actions, you loot during a fight, they will too, you instruct them to go aggro tank on enemies and they’re a mage, they’ll fail, you mine, they mine for materials. I’m a huge fan of the customization, character creation and the gigantic array of clothing and armor. The fighting for all classes is amazing, Mystic Knight is my favorite class, but the spells for Sorcerer are absolutely incredible. I also love that I can recruit other players characters and fight beside them. As for romance, don’t worry first time I played my love interest was ‘Caxton the blacksmith’ 😂 current playthrough I wooed the pants off of Mason with gifted large fish, as he was my intended, but wound up with my usual Julien because I saved his life with a wake stone after slaying him for Mercedes, no big I like Julien, but my next love interest is Feste the jester, may not interfere in the fight this go so I have better odds.
This pawn shall share some knowledge: Set up the poise aguments and ogre rings, as well as, main tank pawn, support sorcerer and the last pawn is up to your discretion. Also important to note that depending on the pawn inclanations, your main pawn will understand that you as the arisen need cover or time to intone spells, so they will become the distraction and aggro target. For more information on pawn inclanations:
I liked everything in Dragon's Dogma except game breaking healing mechanic, witch called "unless oneshotted - you will never die, since you can heal from inventory on cheap healing items". Same for stamina. Kinda same problem i have with Nier games, tho first Nier at least limit the amount of healing items, Automana is like - have 99 of each for extremely cheap, now never die. How such big games can have this obvious of a balance flaw i will never understand. Like - even Dark Souls 2, that critisized for having cheap healing infinite healing items, at least have an animation for using them. Still - Dogma is so good otherwise, i even played the DLC both times for true final fight.
@Jinxed Swashbuckler Souls games aren't RPGs. I don't think your changes would make Dragons Dogma the best action RPG because it doesn't address the many things Dragons Dogma does poorly, or that Dragons dogma is a poor roleplaying experience. If they cut out all of the open world and role playing and turn Dragons Dogma into a linear action game, I'm sure that will be a solid contender for action game of whatever year that releases. No point half assing an RPG, you do not tack on open world elements and role playing onto an action game.
The creepy thing is I had a feeling that he was going to do this I am very glad you did and very fitting considering that The Netflix anime is coming out soon.
This is a game I keep being tempted to reinstall, then I remember the awful traveling i had to mod to fix, the awful story, and the grueling early game, and then i just don't reinstall it. Genuinely no idea how this is getting an anime when it has one of the most lacking stories and settings I've ever seen in a fantasy game.
Honestly for what it lacks in story it makes up for in pure gameplay. The different classes, those little traits you can put on you and your pawn, different armors, the environment...the environment isn't really that bad, it's just mundane, and that's what's nice about it. It doesn't scream "super speshul fantasy land," like most JRPGs. It's lived in. It's got one capital, and the rest is untamed wildlands with nooks of lived in portions. It made finding the Witch Woods and the unknown warrior's tomb that more special. Traveling is whack though I can respect that. Also Dragon's Dogma had an MMO which expanded more on story (but in a different part of the world I think?) so maybe the anime will pull more from that as well. The main character isn't even Savan. It's a joe schmoe named _Ethan._ 😬
Hey thanks for giving Whisper123 a shout-out in the video. Their vids are immensely descriptive and interesting for those who are looking for more in their class
Dragons dogma remains one of my all time favorites and I’m so glad it’s been getting more and more attention throughout the years. I feel the only major reason the game got so overlooked back then was how close it was released to Skyrim which took the gaming world by storm and was also fantasy setting
i'd actually never heard of this game before, but i'm super glad this is how i found out about it. fantastic video, loved every second of it, keep up the great work!
I feel like its a very underrated game, it has a very nice combat system ,art work and class-skills variations, i finished it a week ago for the 12th or so time , i hope there is a chance they make a dragons dogma 2 or something similar
man, this game kicks nuts, whenever cyclops throws you off a damn bridge into the river or a dragon charge you outta nowhere and you try to outran him because you are too weak to even scratch him or when game decides that you where flirting with that merchant in gran soren and dragon steals him so you cant upgrade you stuff... i thought that this was a bug of some kind, imagine my surprise when my character straight up jumped onto this man. i was screaming in fucking tears. but after all of that sheer feeling of victory is so damn pleasing. when game gives you a chance to beat those cultists, to kick kings arse, a chance to finally kill that merchant... so good
When I hear your raw voice-overs on cutaway footage I get the thought that "Man, he must do commentary for a lot of the b-roll and only use that little slice in post." If that's the case, you are *really* dedicated. Wonderful job my man, I have been and will continue to enjoy your content! Keep it coming!
Dude, it's the first time I came up with your channel, and I instant smashed like button in the very beginning of the video, only because it's written "Dragon's Dogma" in the title.
5:55 I agree, having to equip and unequip your lantern gets annoying. But I'm astonished by the amount of people that completely miss the hotkey mechanic.
Skill is very much in play in the dlc you can go for Mystic knight where skill is very important or just mindlessly blast your way through everything with blast arrows, Knowledge is a pretty strong suit and experiencing every vocation is what will help you enjoy the game, its 1 of a few game where you get to play the way you want and it mostly works. Personally i spent 90% of my playtime in Bitterblack isle.
I first met the Chimera when it was nighttime. Yeah, that shit was TERRIFYING. Like a hunter out of the darkness. First time I met the Griffin is when I left the castle one evening to find merchants being attack by goblins, so it was go time! Immediately run their fade, it's evening so torches are out, epic music is playing...AND THEN A FUCKING GRIFFIN lands out of nowhere and steals the cow? Ox? and then just flies off with it. All I did was stare.
SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PLAYED I heard a lot of people saying that the cycle isn’t broken, or that it is. I personally feel the cycle is broken. The game even tells us so, but the reason why in NG+ there’s a Seneschal, your old Arisen (offline), is because it adds replay value to the game. A way they could’ve forgone that is either 1. Have NG+ play out as normal and when you go to meet the Seneschal, nobody is there, but Godsbane is lying on the throne and it gets absorbed into the new Seneschal, your Arisen, and you can choose to start the cycle over or use the sword on yourself. 2. You wake up in Cassardis and the dragon never attacks. You play the game as normal, but you don’t get a Pawn and the story only continues up until you take the hydra’s head to Gran Soren and then the Duke, whom is not the original one, pays you for the head and that’s the end of that. You can then only accept side quests.
It's a crime against humanity that this game doesn't have a sequel
Dragons Dogma online tho kappa

WE HAVE TRIUMPHED.

Also.

It was definitely special. It actually felt like you were exploring a foreign world, not getting on rides in a theme park.
@@del46_60 It helps that the Pawn mechanic is so original, diverse, and interchangeable. They don't have a long tragic backstory or contribute to the main plot. They keep their mouths shut unless they got important details. Letting you pay more attention to the game's world and explore!

I want them to go hard on the 12th century morgan bible aesthetic you could see in the ending scene. That would look awesome.
They should for sure keep everything as is and simply improve upon it. I personally believe the game doesnt need any real multiplayer, but instead a type of co-op system, where your friends can join in on your world and in place of your pawns. I think a type of multiplayer open world system like destiny would ruin the feel of the game
Hopefully they do Warrior class justice

I love the Pawn combat chatter xD "THERE MASTA WOOVES!" "THE TAIL IS SEVERED!!!" it makes fights more exciting to me xD
I adore the Pawn chatter, it feels so lonely with it turned off for me.
"The road splits, let's make doubly sure of which will lead us to our destination." Immediate followed by "IT BARES THE HEAD OF A COCK!" The first time I ever heard them say that I was so confused that I got petrified by the cockatrice blast and died because I didn't have any softener on me.
"Ahahahahaha that's all?"
- my pawn, before being wiped into the floor
Yeah!!! >:3c
Did you notice that he didn't mention that in the video? Maybe he didn't finish the game.
@@euCAF hi. It's been a long time. I think that's why I made that comment, if I remember correctly the video was a bit lacklustre
That happened to me but with the golem

@@Mr.Moustache2 Was it really that bad? It looked great but I haven't watched it yet.
Even letting the creator finish this game as he wanted in a remastered/complete edition would be worth it, if not a second one.
DD is inarguably among the greatest games of it's generation, but if itsuno was allowed to actually finish it would be one of the best games _period_
the fact that your mic quality dips hardcore whenever you show gameplay footage will always be hilarious

Aahh yes one of my all time favorite games
I love KBash content. It’s fun to watch whatever vid he uploads even if I’ve never played a lot of these.
I often don’t leave comments but it tells the YT algorithm recommend this channel to more viewers. 😁
Their is an anime of the game that just came on Netflix. It's pretty good.
Still my favourite game of all time. Was the first ever successful Let’s Play on my channel!
I got one of the kings guard I did quests for as my love interest, imagine my surprise lol
not only have i never been this early but i literally was talking to a friend about DDDA last night I SPOKE THIS INTO EXISTENCE
Thought this game was really cool and a lot of fun, but felt really short
My friend called this an offline MMO
@@bullno1 I call it that and I've finished it multiple times. It is tedious, barren, repetitive, half assed, unfinished and lazy all over. But obviously does some things well.
"If you would face me, seek me out and I shall allow it. But heed the zealot's lesson well-- When the weak court death, they find it."
I got really into the game when I first played it, but after putting it down, I found it almost impossible to get back into. =(
Yea same had the same problem with witcher 3 where u had fun but won't ever play it again
Same I'm on the dlc and took a break during summer and now idk wtf I'm supposed to do
The thing that makes the game so hard to get back into for me at least is the fast travel system its so needlessly restrictive and having to spent 20 mins clearing wave after wave of goblins bandits harpies and those stupid lizards just to get to the next town just drains any desire I have to replay the game
@@darkomihajlovski3135 You know that the game gives you the infinite ferrystone when you reach Gran Soren right? Unless you are playing the OG version of Dragon's Dogma on ps3 or xbox 360
That pre-boss fight stage where you run away from Grigori while fending off against him is some serious gourmet shit
Oh yes that 1 cap com game That made me go:
Hears English op:oh my god this theme is SO American Anime I love it!
Hears Japanese op:SO MUCH ANIME!!!!!!!
Hears Dark Arisen op:......Wow major downgrade.
DA OP is so beautiful and totally fits the theme of the game.
Besides there were copyright issues for Into Free so they had to make their own theme.
@@TheVeryAngryShrimp Oh I knew about the copyright issues.
@@TheVeryAngryShrimp Yeah I agree, the OST set the mood for BBI perfectly, absolutely love it
This game was one of the best RPG games along with skyrim.
I Remember Playing this all day on the PS3 and now I even have the game on PC now, I would always go back to the game whenever I feel like playing it. Beated the game like 8x
the Pawn System was amazing. And you can hire other players pawns too.
There's many classes to pick from. I would always go with Mystic Knight and sometimes warrior.
You mention D&D a lot in some of your reviews but never go into it much. You should maybe do a video about your D&D experiences.
DD2 BABYYYYYYYYYY
If the sequel for this game ever gets announced, I'll actually cry. This is one of the best games I've ever played.
Dragons Dogma is the Dark Souls of Dragons Dogma games.
It's a joe schmoe named _Ethan._ 😬
its got a shit ton of lore to it, apparently, and the traveling is exceptional
Hey thanks for giving Whisper123 a shout-out in the video. Their vids are immensely descriptive and interesting for those who are looking for more in their class
The ‘comely face’ at 2:35 is easily the funniest thing Kbash has ever done
Dragons dogma remains one of my all time favorites and I’m so glad it’s been getting more and more attention throughout the years. I feel the only major reason the game got so overlooked back then was how close it was released to Skyrim which took the gaming world by storm and was also fantasy setting
i'd actually never heard of this game before, but i'm super glad this is how i found out about it. fantastic video, loved every second of it, keep up the great work!
7:30 made me subscribe for ever, great video! Started playing DD this week and im not too sure if i like it, all of this made sense
You have no idea how happy i am to see someone reviewing this game in 2020. Glad to see it's not forgotten yet!
Cant describe how many times my pawns walk near the ledge of a cliff for no reason just to give me a mini heart attack.
SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PLAYED
I heard a lot of people saying that the cycle isn’t broken, or that it is. I personally feel the cycle is broken. The game even tells us so, but the reason why in NG+ there’s a Seneschal, your old Arisen (offline), is because it adds replay value to the game. A way they could’ve forgone that is either
