    Sorry to hear you're sick! Hope you feel better soon! I'm a critical care nurse so I know nothing about lobster boats etc, so I really enjoy watching your vids. The Question that I have is how do you deal with injuries on the boat? How far off shore are you if someone needs immediate medical attention? What's the worst injury someone has sustained on the boat? Either on your boat, your dad's or grandfather's? Thank you again for lobster education and entertainment! love it! 😁👍🦞

      Sadly… the hospital is always the best place to get sick. Hopefully Jacob just has a cold and he’ll be fine, but being at the hospital for the baby puts you in the proximity of other sick people. I came down with bad colds & a flu after the birth of 3 of my children… I think I may have had a better immune system for the 4th!😂 While it was “a few” years ago, it stands out because I was always on a plane for work back then… but because I had these head colds, I ended up being home for the first weeks for my 1st 3 children instead of travelling a few days after they were born. It’s just a cold Jacob… we’ll stick with that. 👍🏼☮️

    • @The_sinner_Jim_Whitney
      @The_sinner_Jim_Whitney 9 місяців тому

      @@trudy285I swear I think being out in the elements helps with regard to immunity. I'm not a nurse, but my mother was for 40 years (NICU, PACU, rehab, and hospice) and my wife is (ER, rehab, PACU) and I heavily considered it before I got into the IBEW (union electricians) apprenticeship. My dad and I did the same job til he retired, and my mom always marveled at how quickly dad got over being sick and how much less bad he seemed to feel than other people with the same bugs. My wife has always been blown away by the same thing with me. I can have like a 102.6 fever and pitiful O2 sat and be like 'eh, feel kinda like shit, but I'll go to work' and be fine in like three days, haha! I think being out in the cold and the wind and the heat and the rain makes a person's body work a little better than it would inside all the time. I think we evolved outdoors and it'll be a LONG time til we evolve to be indoors, if ever. Nature's part of us, and I think it's important to embrace it.

      What's more interesting is the evolutionary pressures this puts on the lobster. For example female lobsters who are more likely to enter these cages actually have a higher rate of survival and reproduction. The same is not true for the males.

    Wow, I enjoy your videos. My relationship with lobster usually starts on a plate with lemon and butter. I appreciate how you explain where and how he/she ends up on the menu. Thank you.

    Your giving your lobsters a 'snack' seems to be developing into a tradition! Saw another UA-camr doing it too.

    Great way to explain the traps. You explained the function of the trap that even a guy in the “County” can understand that… I may have to explain the “County” as few will know that. I’m sure you do. The other end of the state….4 hrs away…

    Random question: How long do you think it takes for the lobster to get all the way to the bottom of the ocean from the boat?
