A close up in depth look at Leon The Lobster molting for the 2nd time since he was rescued from a grocery store. A beautiful and touching video. - Розваги
Can't believe I've been keeping up with a lobster for the past 2 years. Long live Leon. You are a sacred soul, Brady.
Has it been two years already? Insane! I remember watching Leon’s first video when it came out.
Lobster actually live a long time. Leon will probably out live him.
@TentaclePentacle I meant more, so the fact I started to watch this in lockdown of what was a soon to be eaten lobster in a tank to being rescued by Brady. I can't believe how fast the time has gone, and I was surprised because of the circumstances that he was still alive, considering how it all began.
@@Liberate1990 I wood break into this ngga's house to take leon for dinner. Crazy mufcka keeping food as a pet.
Amen to that
You really have given this lobster a soul, a persona, and made him an individual that I feel empathy with.
you should see a psychiatrist then.
@@MikeR65wow....
Totally agree with you ALL life is precious
@@MikeR65 who wee wee'd in your breakfast buddy? This was a completely wonderful video and M M's comment didn't deserve your juvenile remark.
@@MikeR65 That is really uncalled for. I think that you need some empathy towards other humans.

Awesome! Thank you for checking back in on Leon. ✌️✌️✌️🦞
Me too
They can live longer than 100 years, so this will be really cool to watch over the decades!
Lol, silly lobsters are some of the longest living animals in the world, 100 is middle aged
Interesting video, but when’s dinner?
Lobsters aren't your traditional "cute" animal, they're not a mammal, they're not even a vertebrate, AND they're an animal we're used to seeing as food. The fact that you put so MUCH effort and heart into caring for this creature is such a picture of pure compassion, it never stops being the most beautiful thing to see.
humans..
This shows just how comfortable, safe and healthy Leon is-that he can shed his shell and exhibit such normal, healthy behavior. Thanks for this amazing video filled with amazing things that happen deep down in our oceans.
i have noticed that with enough exposure, humans will consider anything cute.
It makes you wonder about the first poor, starving bastard that was so hungry, he was willing to eat a giant sea bug? 🦞🦀🐙🦑🦐🦂😋 or worse🪼🐡🐸🦎🐍🤮🥶🥵🤮💀👻
I like to eat lobsters... Yum yum. but it would be cool to have one as a pet too.
My 7 year old and I are over here cheering for Leon “GET UP LEE! Get up! You can do it buddy!” I’m sure so many of us are rooting for him!

@@langustajableczna thank you! I was taught to have great love and respect for all creatures great and small and I think he’s got the hang of it now. Our poor dog thought we were crazy…but we panicked when we saw Leon completely fall over.
I thought he couldn't get any more colourful, but here he goes, with the redest claws I've ever seen. You go, little guy!
This was absolutely fascinating to watch.
He is truly a magnificent creature!❤🎉
Totally fascinating...Brady's narration enhances our experience
Beautiful eh! Almost ruby coloured
Yep, lobsters always seem at their most vibrant after molting. My guess is that their shell becomes duller over time as they get closer to their next molt
(Just a guess, I’m not an expert on Lobsters so feel free to correct me)
His colours are just amazing.
Awwwwww!!! You kept his old claw!? That's like a parent keeping a child's baby teeth!
Haaaaa haaaaaa so true! 😅
@@Bradybrandwood your comments on hot water sensation for them is interesting given they dont feel pain. Their sensitivity to movement and vibrations is a separate thing all together. if you think of how theyre able to detach from the shell completely. Imagine being able to shed/exit your skin in one go. we couldnt due to pain so what theyre sensing isnt the same
Getting rid of that old grocery store body must be amazing. Look at those colors.
Seeing his progress from when he was in the grocery store to when he was in your care is truly heartwarming. What's even more heartwarming is that lobsters dont really "die" of natural causes. You're gonna have this little guy around, possibly for the rest of your life. Leon has made me care very deeply for lobsters haha
Might be wrong but don't they reach a point where they essentially stop molding but keep getting bigger, then die ?
@@Yautahmolting gets harder and harder and eventually it might be so energy consuming that they die
@@bugguyonline So theoretically if we could assist in the molting somehow without stressing the lobster out (I imagine it as an old person trying to take their clothes off but can't, then suddenly giant hands appeared to strip them), we could have a lobster (if remains healthy) that grow infinitely? At least until it reaches a limit that's not existed yet in the wild.
@@ADKV95 technically there are medical substances for fish and crabs that just knock them out or makes them relaxe very much. So if someone figures out how to shed a Lobster without damaging it, and before doing so knocks it out, maybe?
Same!
I still remember seeing you take off the elastics from his claws and seeing what poor condition he was in. What a life changing experience for leon, thanks for sharing leon's changes over the years.

Full credit to you for keeping this guy alive and kicking and going through 'what he should do naturally' Well done to you for supplying everything he needs to keep him healthy.
except for an actual home or cave he can hide away in when he doesn't want to be seen
@@rochelem3872 I think I am right in saying he has a hideaway in the back of his tank. His owner will know the answer to that of course. When you take into account he was rescued from a live tank in a restaurant, ready to cook and eat, I feel he has been a very lucky lobster indeed.
@@rochelem3872 I believe he's said in another video that he feels safer being able to watch Leon molt, to at least be aware of any consequences happening. The little lower part behind the rocks is something Leon made himself though, and it's kinda his sleeping spot from what we have seen😊
Amazing to watch.. ,thank you!!!!!!

All that good steady food must of helped with his new sized...

Never ate a lobster in my life and never will. Unreal videos and thanks for saving Leon and showing us all his life.
Never had lobster either, and don’t wanna. How beautiful
I've never eaten lobster either. These videos are a real insight into a creature I knew very little of.
I couldn't agree more these creatures not only deserve to live but they deserve to just be left alone and contine cleaning the bottom of the ocean
Leon is so inspiring and I found the molt deeply spiritual and reverent, even seeing him going back to it right after he shed it
Yes agree ...spiritual and reverent ...God's creation is just wonderful
Same , powerful to see what happened to us when born again and our old nature dead
I am so fascinated by Leon's improvements. So glad you saved this little guy. We are leaning so much. I didn't want to eat these lobsters before, and really don't want to now.
I was a HUGE shellfish eater. I stumbled on Leon’s first video and I’ve never eaten shellfish since..
That was so interesting especially the slow motion shucking himself out of his old shell. When i watch Leon i know I'll never be eating Lobster. Boiling them alive feel utterly barbaric. He looks so beautiful,so many different colours in his shell.
I've learned so much from your videos, thank you🦞
I have stopped eating fish completely, not solely because of Leon but he absolutely contributed to my decision!
Me neither. Seeing the lobsters piled up with their claws banded in those small tanks at the grocery store is heartbreaking. Thinking about them being boiled alive makes me feel sick.
im going to eat twice as many lobsters now just so your change makes no difference
My eyes swelled up with tears when you pointed out the sensitivity of his shell and what this amazing creatures suffer when they are boiled alive, literally torture, I will never sit on a table where this is served and will always be loudly against this inhumane form of torture.
Leon is such a beautiful creature, and you are a great man. Thank you for this series.

Yeah, it's been debunked that they don't feel pain when boiled. Just took a few centuries to figure that out. *shakes head*

By boys and I have been following Leon since the beginning. None of us can believe how big he has gotten. The 12 year old keeps trying to bring his own Leon home from Publix. Sending all the love and best for our favorite lobster Tampa Bay, Fl. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
This video made me so emotional and I cannot exactly place why. Just seeing Leon safe, healthy and seemingly so happy with Brady is just so lovely. I hope Leon has the best life ever with Brady.
I felt quite emotional watching this, too. The entire molting experience is just so incredible. It is truly remarkable that he had legs, claws, a body inside his body, like he is two lobsters in one (even more than two as he molted before and likely will molt again). Makes one wonder, how many Leons are in Leon?
One of the most striking parts of the video to me was the comparison of the claws. It is incredible how the second claw "grew" but was a different claw. The teeth look exactly the same, as though it was the same claw growing. But it was an entirely different claw.
Leon is healthy because of what you have done for him. Love nutrition exercise and a few friends has really brought him to a great place
When I lived in Florida I would catch Florida lobster sometimes I would come across a few molted shells it was very interesting never seen one mold but thank you to you now I know how it's done thank you

Me too!!!
@@asadovesoacrowWe've all been there. Hang in there! Always darkest before the dawn.
Leon's new look is incredible, I love his lava coloured spikes on the claws. I relate to Brady on some level. I saved a campbells hamster from a home that didn't want her anymore and she lived for 3 years and a few months, an incredible age for her species. I believe she appreaciated her new large tank with lots of activities and a thick layer to dig her tunnels. She was calm, sweet, curious and never bit anyone, let me clip her nails with no problem. Giving an animal a second chance and seeing it flourish is a great experience.
Brady is a cat rescuer, so there is that! (Admittedly cat rescue is more mainstream than adopting lobsters!)
20:50 Leon is so beautiful here. He truly is a survivor, and a big ole beast. The colors on him are so vibrant. Glad he made it through the molt.
Ive literally just found this channel. It's so gracious that you "rescued" him from the Fresh Seafood shop. I watched as you snipped those elastic bands off his claws. Ive noticed - since literally watching back-to-back episodes - how colourful he has become. I believe it's because he's happy, healthy & it's because he's completely safe. Such a glorious sight. ❤️❤️😘
Wow! I remember watching the old video when it came out and thinking he looked way more healthy and colorful after his first molt. His colors now are somehow even more bold and brilliant! Amazing how love and care can bring him from being in a terrible state to how he is now. Awesome stuff.
How weird it would be if humans moulted. You'd have to book time off work for it. "I can't come in today, sorry. I'm still feeling pretty vulnerable and my eyesight isn't 100% yet."
We'd get two birthdays as well, which reminds me:
HAPPY REBIRTHDAY LEON! ❤
Never thought I'd be crying over a lobster - it really was as if he were saying goodbye to his old self... some deep philosophical stuff in there.
Great photography as always, Brady. Honoured to be on this beautiful journey with you and Leon
At that point it wouldn’t be weird at all, it would be normal.
We kind of do dust is skin flakes.
Can you imagine how creepy it would be having the skin of our old self to dispose of.
@@davidmccann9811 You know we would play with it, like the curious creatures we are. We'd find different ways to fuck with people by stuffing them with newspaper or something.
Thats probably what will finally kill him. Lobsters are essentially biologically immortal but eventually he will get too big and it'll cost too much energy
Leon is living and thriving because of you. ❤ Thank you, Dad! 😊
Leon could potentially live forever in his current climate. This story could span generations!
IIRC lobster can grow up to 80 years in age. so its a lifetime job if you get one as a pet. ^^
Actually in the wild they can live to be 100+
@@nvgboiyes6386 That would be an extreme outlier. Generally they're believed to live about 45-50 years. What's interesting though is that they don't really age like other animals do. The limiting factor to their lifespan is the moulting process. The bigger they get the more energy it takes, so eventually they reach a point where they die from exhaustion during a moult.
As an invertebrate owner, I am shockingly surprised at how similar Leon's molting process is to my tarantulas and scorpions. It's incredible to watch. Their vulnerability is the hardest part to think about. Especially how delicate they are for WEEKS after their molt. What a WONDERFUL thing you've caught on camera. Thank you for caring so well for this special little guy. People often ask me how I can care so much for spiders and "bugs"....I tell people that once you're forced to keep something alive and actually CARE for it, you start to see it in a totally different light.
I love this!! You truly care for Leon’s dry-land-equivalent critters! You’ve got a perspective on Leon most of us and likely even Leon’s caretaker don’t even have! How beautiful ❤

I can’t bear to think about what it feels like for them being boiled alive 😢 I love to see Leon living a better life than the one he was destined for, on a plate. It’s been a great informative and close up look on a lobster so far and looking forward to many more. 😊
I've always been vegetarian (well since my mom read me Charlotte's Web around 6 and then took me to Austria to her farming village!!). As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember when my family or neighbors would have "crawfish boils", I would always steel one or two and bring them to the levee and set them free. I think, without being preachy, Brady and Leon have probably saved many lobsters and maybe even other animals. Maybe even crueler then being boiled alive is being starved with claws tied together (imagine being starved with handcuffs) for weeks? months? Leon was probably broken and wishing for death when he was chosen from the tank and voila, he's a star of the internet, living the life, given treats regularly and getting better and better digs.
I agree, it is barbaric.
"its Gucci man, its Gucci..." lol Leon so princely. Thank you for saving Leon and documenting his survival. May he continue to thrive!
