I went to a few Dinah Shore golf tournaments in palm springs in the early eighties...I was getting a couple of autographs from a couple other stars and he walked up and asked if I'd like his..I said yes and he signed my golf paperwork. It's been protected and is in perfect condition. He smiled for a picture and was very nice..
Joe D was a right handed hitter who played half his games in Yankee stadium. Left center field was called death valley. 451 ft. I'd say Joe would have hit over 500 hrs had he played at today's Yankee stadium. Williams at Fenway was a monster. Comparisons can be made but why? They were two of the greatest. Both were class acts too...
I remember getting DiMaggio's auto as a teenager in the late 80's. He was at a show in the Chicago suburbs and I paid $25 for his signature. Still have it in my collection.
Great info. I got burned on an Operation Ballpark DiMaggio about 20 years ago. Williams was a better hitter and DiMaggio was a better all-around player.
I joined Out or Safe on your recommendation, I think they're very good, but one of them said safe on a 100% fake Mariano Rivera and when I had the audacity to disagree I was put on probation and blocked from commenting for a few weeks. I understand they get a lot of weirdos arguing, but I private messaged the mods and tried to be nice and professional about it. It was pretty disappointing. Later someone asked about Mariano's style changes and I did a detailed tutorial using 6 or 7 different examples from 1990 to 2010 using item from my collection of 1300+ Mo autos and they deleted it. That made me think they're more concerned with their egos than being right, which is pretty gross IMO.
Yes, they provide a great service….but get very defensive when someone disagrees. I once did the same (disagreed) and got a gentle reminder that their opinions are not up for discussion. We both know that you are the #1 Mariano expert. Know I just use the page as a resource to show bad autographs when they appear.
@@baseballHOFautographs I really do enjoy the group, and understand why they wouldn't want arguing, but deleting the tutorial I did really bummed me out. Being burned myself as a kid it breaks my heart whenever I see a fake auto sell so I'll do whatever I can to help people out. If you ever get to the "R's" and want some better examples of early Mo autos than PSA has let me know.
Why do most current players draw illegible scribble as “autographs” but DiMaggio and his contemporaries had legible signatures. I don’t see how TPAs can authenticate chicken scratch.
dimaggio won because Williams hated the press and antagonized them. Ironically, DiMaggio was maybe just as cantankerous, if Billy Crystal's story about getting sucker punched by him is true.

Oh Joe D.
I’ve got a Perez Steele, but still need a baseball.
Someday.
Merry Christmas Frank!

100% agreed, switch each player to the opposing team and I think the outcome is the same. I look at them both of them the same.
Another great video. I would like to add a DiMaggio one day. Checks are nice
His autograph is beautiful
Thanks! Just picked up a DiMaggio ball cheap and it might be good.
Thank you, Frank. Have a great Christmas!

Me too but I didn’t pay for my DiMaggio autos.
Was it in Harvey, IL?
Great breakdown. Thank you for the info
Meh, I’ve done better

@@forgerelli1 for sure will reach out!
Hey quick question on comc there are $238 autos of joe DiMaggio autos leaf executive collection. Are these legit in your opinion?
Are those the cuts in slabs? If so, yes-they are usually fine.
Always judge a player not by a season but by their body of work. Have you seen Marilyn Monroe's body?
Fine, you win!
@@baseballHOFautographs ha!
I think Stan Musial was even better than DiMaggio !
Yes, I can see your argument.
maybe, but he struck out way more than Joe D

Can’t say no to money.
Ted Williams is a better hitter than DiMaggio in my opinion.
That isn’t opinion, that is fact!
