For an '06 Civic EX 1.8L, the part number for the o-ring is 91302-PX4-004. You can also get the cover and o-ring together: 12240-RNA-A00
WOuld this be the same for the 09 civic lxs 1.8L?
Yes
@@ballsoutperformance Thanks.
@@ballsoutperformancewould it be the same for an 07 civic and also where did you get the part from?
Yes. Hondapartsnow.com
Like others have said, good diy, thanks for the video! For anyone else that may be using this as a resource, the thrust plate itself was pretty difficult to get off (after the bolts were removed). I was able to remove it by turning it with very light taps from a hammer. Once it moved a couple times it came off easy.
Thanks for the support
thks man , mines leaking from the same area down to the tranny, i tried taking the harness out before and it was a pain... i just left it as is but now i've seen yr video i'm going for it ... your the man ...your video is the only one out about this issue .. 👍
Glad it helped. Thanks for the support
Exelente trabajo amigo, me ayudó mucho tu operación
Have just finished doing this repair on my Civic defineitly worth replacing this Oring as when it's worn out you will loose alot of oil and it makes a big mess this was also running down in to my gearbox and causing my clutch to slip now that it's replaced and and cleaned up no more clutch issues
💯👍
There were issues with my clutch on a Honda Jazz and the mechanic just found this same seal leaking oil, hopefully the clutch issue gets sorted when the seal is replaced.
@bonneyferns Hopefully it solves your problem been driving my Civic for about a week now after doing this repair and all is good
Dealer charged me 659.13 for this repair.
Thanks for sharing this video. It will be my reference next time.
holy shit, this dealers going crazy on prices
good job
I have a 2008 ex civic, the car feels super good, I did a complete tune-up job, valve calibration, throttle body cleaning, change some sensors, fuel pump filter, but I'm still struggling with high consumption of gasoline, I have a scanner and it does not have DTC codes but it always indicates a rich mixture, I am almost throwing in the towel, i need to do the camshaft o ring oil replaceent to, and thi is the next step,
Thanks for the guide.!
If you havent, you may want to replace the primary (front) o2 sensor. I recommend an OEM honda one as replacement. A failing front o2 can lead to excessive fuel consumption. Also wouldnt be a bad idea to clean the mass airflow sensor.
@@ballsoutperformance I do this, I replace the O2 sensor and I scan, something says fuel trims are always in high negative numbers, I read that this happens because the oxygen sensor is indicating that the mixture is very rich and tells the injectors to put less gasoline, but even so it does not give me even 260 km per full tank.
Clean EGR valve.
Excellent video, definitely the best one on UA-cam for this job. Did it solve the oil leak issue in this area?
Yes it did. Its really the only thing that can cause oil leakage from this area. The valve cover gasket is another common leak area (already been replaced on this car). If you have a leak at the rear of the engine, the vtec solenoid (spool valve) gasket is another common issue.
@@ballsoutperformance Thanks, I've replaced both the valve cover gasket and the vtec solenoid gasket last year. Saw oil in this area and hoped it was residual from the valve cover, but it's the thust plate seal. Have you done the plastic cam cap on the other side? I saw a video where someone just pried it out with a screwdriver, but I'm having a hard time believing it's that easy.
Yea Ive changed that one as well. Its been a while but yea, I think thats all there is to it. The old D series and B series engines were the same way
Hey brother really gotta thank you for this video, I think your the only one that has come out with that seal. Everything else is the vtec gasket.
👍👌
Cual es la medida de la herramienta para quitar los tornillos?
This is a great and helpful diy video man. I already replaced the vtec solenoid gasket, high/low pressure power steering hose o ring and valve gasket about 3 years ago. My son saw oil leaking down the tranny box when he was changing oil and it wasn’t color red so I suspect it’s coming from this. You didn’t have to drain the engine oil before removing that part did you?
No, no need to drain.
Off topic, got the same engine. Did you ever experience surging/minor misfire especially on cold starts/or when the car sits for several hours and goes away after its warm up?
No, i havent had that issue
Thanks
No problem
This stupid o ring is leaking like crazy and all the work I did just to find the bottom bolt not to budge and literally strip. Now I have to figure out how to extract the bolt with such a narrow space due to the wire harness not being flexible to move out the way.
Update: Pain in the damn rear! The new seal got crimped between the thrust plate and surface tearing the seal apart. Local auto parts store do not carry this seal. Luckily dealer parts store was open in the evening and was able to buy 2 more seals just in case.
My friend, I follow you from Cairo, Egypt. You are truly amazing. I want to know the name of that metal thing so that can help me
Thanks. Camshaft thrust plate
👍👍👍👍
gracias por compatir , exelente el video que Dios te bendiga .
Thanks for the support
What is the name of the part or how do i order the packaging
The part number is in the video. Get it online or from dealer
Thanks for the video. May I know what is mileage of your car? My car is now running 120k km... thanks 🎉
I cant remember mileage when this video was recorded. It currently has around 215,000 miles
Que número de parte es el empaque ?
You ganna find it on minute 1:26.
Where did you find the breakdown diagram of the part? I’ve been searching online but can’t find a view showing that side.
Look under Engine / Spool valve
