The Best Cart for a Hobie Kayak? | YakAttack TowNStow Scupper Cart Review

- In today's video, we're taking a look at the new YakAttack TowNStow Scupper Cart. This cart is meant to be used with kayaks that are designed to use carts that are attached and secured to the kayak by using the scupper holes in the hull. Hobie Kayaks and a few other brands are compatible with this cart.
I forgot to go over how I load the kayak back on to the cart after fishing to tow it back to my truck. I usually pull the kayak up on shore, take my crate and rods out, and tip it on it's side and then put the cart in that way. You can also use the kickstands on the cart to stage it without the upright posts installed and position the kayak back on top, but I've found it tedious to line up the holes for the upright posts to go back in, so I just use the tip method.

My wife and I just got 2 Hobie mirage passports in Dec 2023 and I bought the Yak Attack cart. I couldn't be more satisfied with all of it. The cart is awesome and the design is well thought out. Thanks for the video.

If you do a follow-up video you should show how the fold down supports work.
I'll keep that in mind, I usually don't use them all that much though.
I would have liked to see how you put it back onto the kayak down by the water, to take it back to your vehicle. using bungees to pull it up into the scuppers is a popular way to do it with the Hobie scupper version. you wouldn't want to have to tip it sideways to access the scupper holes with all that gear on it.
Tipping it to insert the cart is the best way I have found so far with my setup, but 90% of the time I pull the kayak into the back of my truck at the ramp. Usually, all I need to take off is my crate and secure any loose items before tipping on the shore. I tend to just use the cart for setting up my rig and getting it to the shore when the ramp is busy in the morning.

I liked the format of sharing your entire arrival and then a little bit of your fishing trip...I just wish you would have added how you got all your gear back to the pickup, including the kayak back on the cart. I hope you continue to make videos as good as this one.
I have 2 questions.
What is the liner for not scratching the kayak that you added in your extension for the pickup bed where your kayak rests at the start of your video?
How do you align the poles in the cart that go through the scuppers of the kayak when you come back from the water?
Sorry, I added how I load up the kayak with the cart when getting off of the water to the description because I used my truck to load it up at the ramp on this trip.
I have a cheap rope from Lowe's wrapped around the T-bar section of my bed extender.
I usually tip the kayak on it's side to put the cart back in. I usually have to take my crate out and maybe one or two other things before I tip the kayak on it's side.
@@nathanielholleyfishing I didn't think it was a rope. It's a good idea. How is it working for you to protect the kayak?
What I had in mind to put in is a boat trailer mat. But maybe the rope would be easier and cheaper to install and replace when damaged.
@@araldf It's held up pretty well for around 3 years bur I need to replace it soon though. Starting to look a little rough. It does well enough to protect the kayak when sliding on the bed extender.
Great video. I have one on order for my NuCanoe Frontier. I hope it works. So how was Lake Garfield? Ive fished it many times with varied success. It's so shallow ive got my boat stuck a couple times lol. Anyway im in Lakeland, if you ever want to hook up and fish let me know. 😉 i do a little of everything, bass and inshore. Lmk
Lake Garfield can be good sometimes, it's just been a bit stingy lately. Almost never anyone out there though so it's peaceful.
All that button pressing and walking around you're better off just getting the non scupper version and strap it on. I like how with my hobie cart I can just lift it up and just stow it away.
What if you forget/lose your strap though? With the scupper cart you should always have all of the pieces you need at any point. Not saying you can't lose pieces off of the scupper cart, but it at least is a more complete system in my opinion. You also don't have to lift as high to get this cart out, you can still do the same motion without taking the posts out, it's just easier to take them out with a loaded kayak.
@@nathanielholleyfishingoh i didnt know you could lift the kayak up and let it drop with this cart too. Might wait for the sand model to come out

How did you attach your Ketch board holder to your crate?

how is garfield to kayak fish on we live just up the hill from there
It has it's moments, not gonna catch any giants 99% of the time but some days it's a good place to burn through a pack or two of speed worms.

How is it in the sand?
I haven't been in much sand, but it did about the same as my Hobie cart on a sandy road. I imagine it would be a little bit of a pain to pull it on the beach with a fully loaded kayak.
I wish all kayaks could handle scupper carts
i agree i bought a dual trailer for my 2 ascend 133x s because im not to sure about those carts and even their huge cart im wondering . but the big one at $279. is steep

@@nathanielholleyfishing i just bought 2 of the vevor heavy duty kayak carts they hanle my 133x with ease comes with balloon tires for $96. just need some since some of the kayak launchs have anti trailer post so have to use cart to launch at the coast
