this song and "the outlaw torn" are the most underrated metallica songs
What About Fixxxer? The Twin Of The Outlaw Torn, That song is Massively Underrated
alex You're underrated Brother, YOU and your millennial opinion.
how about lowmans lyric
Fixxer is perfect song..
And “Fixxxer”
5:21 Those 2 headbangs still give me chills af
Nice time stamp
Fuccccccccck YES!
Definitely. And that perfect "Aagh!!" From James to top it off.
Hell yeah.!!
Add fixxer in there too
The energy coming from James and Jason is pure Electric. Awesome.
I've grown up with metallica. As I've got older I've gained an even deeper appreciation of hetfield's talent, presence and passion. He is an absolute monster. Perhaps one of the greatest frontmen of all time. It's a privilege to be alive with this band still here. Their music is a part of me.
Agreed. If James retires for good tomorrow and never plays another note I am fine with that and I thank him so much for all he's given me over the years since I was 11 years old and now I'm a man of 40.
True.
Absolutely!
He’s without question one of the best frontmen ever. Not to mention a top 5 all time rhythm guitarist
James is just pouring with aggression and feeling on this one! 5:00-6:30 might just be the most epic shots of his live career.
Look at the Seattle '89
Rag eN You are right. This is James who has since spoken of this era as being the height of his addiction. He had tried to get sober many times on his own and failed. Load and Reload are albums that chronicle this in a variety of ways, but Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn are two songs that represent it quite literally. James said that he would play sing song and sometimes cry because he was in such distress and the other guys didn’t even know it. This song is his actual hope that he can get past his demons and live a happy life. When he says “You can’t stop it” at the end, he’s being 100% real. In everything you watch before rehab, he is a scared kid in a grown man’s body. It’ll change the way you watch and hear everything. If you understand addiction you can see all of this quite clearly.
@@lontroll most well known famous
Couldn't have said it better myself
@@Rickkelley365 This comment is awesome. And it explains quite well the reason why their performance of "Outlaw Torn" in S and M 2 is so emotional. I could not get the grasp of how emotional that performance was for me when I first saw it, and then it hit me when I read that James went back to rehab in 2019...
Damn they were really on to something in the 90's. Everybody was trashing load and reload. Some of their best work imo. Don't get me wrong, I grew up on puppets (my favorite album) and justice, but black through reload were pure inspiration through my late teens. Truly artistic magnificence.
I do agree. But in my opinion there were a fair amount of songs that were just okay. Load and reload would have been more powerful if they took the best songs and put it into one album, then released the rest as B sides.
Yes, it truly is artistic magnificence. Must have been awesome to see them at this concert. I've only seen them once :(
Had this been by any other band it would recived massive praise ;)
Im %100 sure that Load and reload was too much change from their older music. At the time, a lot of people didn't except it, as if Metallica "slowed down"
Shit yes absolutely awsome performance...load era is fucking alot better than some folks give it credit
This is truly one the most underrated songs, not just of Metallica, but in general and I wish more people recognized it as the masterpiece that it is.
I agree, this one an The Outlaw Torn.
Who's here in 2023 still amazed by this gem of a performance! Just seen them last month in Detroit for 2 shows and they...havent...lost a beat! Long live mighty METALLICA
I hate when people underestimate jason just because he is not cliff, jason is one of the best bass players in metal, he never miss his role of being the foundation sound and the best second voice, he has nothing to envy anyone
People tend to forget that the band members of Metallica are people as well. They’re not playing music to be the next vai or flea but to enjoy having the best job in the world.
I think it was less about his qualifications and more about what cliff brought to the creative process when it comes to making new music. That's just what I've gathered from the few interviews I've seen.

@@Beyond-Antares
It’s exactly why they chose Jason.
"Don't be afraid to feel it Woodstock"
You're all a bunch of fuckin'slaves! How does it feel to be alive? Come on! No limits, No laws!
Epic phrase!
I felt it
Then.... "Feel it, mother******, yeah!!!"
James is absolutely monstrous here. Really amazing.
Later switches to a pick
Agent Smith huh?
Agent Smith James not jason lol
An unreal frontman.
Yes, he is the rock god possessed here, and he's a year away from total alcoholic meltdown. He's feeling the lyric. He is literally being bled.
5:22 james' power headbangs and the aaah. can't stop watching this. pls help
Im addicted toooooooooooo
Metallica addiction is real
This is what I like. You can't beat it when James is fired up. Tonight's metallica Monday's in Berlin certainly is one of those shows too
😂 I'm helpless too, I love him to pieces
Phenomenal performance, solo was spot on. James was really feeling this song
James, I believe, was feeling this song with a little alcohol on board.
and boobs, don't forget the boobs!
Controversial as it may be, this is my favorite post-Lightning Metallica track.
Puppets and Justice had great songs, but Bleeding Me brings the emotion/passion of the RTL era masterpieces.
Ian C. Buonamici is a bad assed song.
boy, you must be crazy,
3:34 that solo hits my soul everytime
Load and Reload were some of the most impressive albums I've ever heard. Judge me
Agreed
🤘🤘 fans for life
for a metal band gone country.....yes.
I concur...
I can't judge someone if they're speak the truth
A massively underrated song from an equally underrated album.
Heavy emotions, amazing vocals. The best vocalist on the planet..
Hell 👍
'99 was an amazing year for James' vocals.
No.
@@budkasuflera7169 gonna cry?
The entire 90s were good
Probably the most under rated Metallica song. You only hear on the radio is someone requests it.
+P. Gravelle i would include Wasting My Hate and The Thorn Within
Not in Boston. This is the only Metallica song you hear on Boston rock radio. This and until it sleeps
outlaw torn.
on the most underrated album
I sleep to this jam, outlaw torn and wild things
spacey blues metal....perfect song to stoke up a fat one...
+Ravi Shanker Even though I'm not into those things I've always kind of thought of this song as perfect for that :)
Ravi Shanker As we speak bro
It's also perfect for sobriety 👊
Jason's voice gives so much extra timbre to James' voice. They sound perfect together.

Jason Newsted...one of the reasons why I love Metallica
Jason fucking newsted
The bans was not the same after he left

This song is special.
Kinda wish they would play this live more. It's a really good song.
Hell yeah! Great fucking song.
Especially live...
Robert Johnson it’s full of deep personal pain for James, since it was about his multiple attempts and failures at sobriety. I still cry every time I hear it knowing how much pain it was written about and how deep in despair he was.
Jason’s vocal backing sure have Metallica some powerful depth back in the day. Absolute monster on the mic. Love and miss ya New Kid.
bleeding me will always be my no.1
The studio version of Bleeding Me has one of Kirk's best solos I think.
Bleeding me and Unforgiven 3
Yeah, never herd a solo with SO MUCH wah-wah)))))) Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it is a bad thing, just it was like Kirk has to use his leg to play guitar as much as hands))
GilianesWorld and here comes revenge
And Ride the Lightning
dst and Dyer’s Eve
One of my all time favorite Metallica songs.
Jason’s vocal backing sure ghave Metallica some powerful live depth back in the day. Absolute monster on the mic. Love and miss ya New Kid.
For those who still asking why Metallica has been and will forever be the best heavy metal band of all time, this performance is the best answer.
Hell yeah#!!!!!!!!!!!
Thrash metal band *
And this comment proves your relevancy in the comments still after years like Metallica
@@MrRobcix1 KEA is their only thrash album
@@lclccl yes but they are the pioneers of the genre and actually RTL, MOP and AJFA are thrash metal albums too... After The Black Album came out their sound became more heavy metal but before it was pure thrash metal

Outlaw Torn, Fixxxer, Bleeding Me three of the best songs they ever recorded
I love the solo for this song & the album “Load” has really grown on me over the years as it was a difficult time for me during that era that Metallica released the “Load” album in 1996/97 so every time i listen to this album or hear a song from it, it sends me back in time with a lot of emotions.
I always get chills watching James at 5:10 he's such a fucking badass
Kirk just killing the solo makes me feel some type of way. The way he moves and feels the music is amazing.
DevelDogg48 I freaking love his solo on this song!
It's just a damn shame the video editor/ producer did not feel it necessary to keep the camera on the solo for the entire solo! Made me angry!
uhh, which way would that be?
metallica live performances in the 90s were at their peak, they just sound almost perfect in this era
This is quickly becoming a favorite tune from Metallica, and I am very Old School Metal!!!
This song is very special to me, every time I hear it, I can vividly remember the day I bought the load album on cassette tape, really don't know why everyone hates load.
Shane McRedmond ya im totally fine with load
Shane McRedmond I love the LOAD album. I hated it back in the day, but right now probably is my favourite album. Got it in CD and vinyl, I saw them in the Oh Poor Touring Me World Tour '96, and the Cunning Stunts VHS is lost somewhere in my room. So yes, I'm fine with Load too!
They hate load simply because they are used to compare every new release to the first 4 albums. Load is not as heavy as Master of Puppets for example. I wouldn't even consider it "metal". Maybe something like hard rock. BUT: It's still a fu**ing great album! Great lyrics and guitars.
Thewise one I respectfully disagree. Case in point being this song - a 9 minute meandering (yet very soulful) number - hardly cookie cutter. The deal with these guys, and especially James is that they truly don't care if you or I like it or not(certainly used to). James was channeling a raw, exposed nerve here, and just because it wasn't in the puppets or justice mould doesn't make it any less heavier - but in a different. Honestly don't think they sold out, just decided to tread a different path. Those band photos on the Load CD though...
Oh no, they definitely sold out to make a more commercial friendly sound in order to attract mass appeal, however at the same time it doesn't mean it is bad music. Just different. Whether you are a fan of Load/Reload and the albums since, it is hard to deny there is a stark contrast in style. This wasn't made to "explore different musical tastes" it was a strategy by their producer to make them a bigger band. It's not an opinion it just is, but like I said it doesn't mean that all the songs are bad. Contrast this with a band like Slayer who has largely maintained being a Thrash metal band despite their more recent albums not being as furious and unrelenting as their classics, but the style itself largely remained the same.
5:05 over and over and over again. Love it!
This song is my sacred temple. From time to time, I make a pilgrimage and watch all live performances. James wrote a true masterpiece musically and lyrically
It's a pity that this song is so underrated, a pure gem. SO MANY FEELINGS
never get tired of this song 🤘
I think it’s fair to say that this was one of their finest performances in their entire career. The emotion and energy that they poured into this song is staggering!
Moscow 1991 powerful💪
Newsted is so freaking cool man
This thorn in my sideeee, is from the tree I planted.... Perfect Lyrics
There is no comma, though, yu dumbass!!!
MrParkerman6 you*, dumbass!!
His voice is even better here than on the album cut, beautiful!
once James starts the breakdown to this song the rest of this performance is chills city wow outstanding effort
metallica at their prime as a live band..
fuckin speechless..
Dude, no. 89 Seattle was their prime
1:08 Jason’s just in that mood
James singing from the deep of the heart,
... fucking awesome
that moment at 5:09 in the black light where all of newstead's teeth light up
They were hitting on all cylinders that night. Flawless.
James bleeding out his soul for everyone to see. Almost as if to hide in plain sight
Couldnt say better than this!
vinsanity982 What's to hide? Saw him twice last month in Austin, Tx. ACL live... Sadness is written ALL over his face, there's no hiding it.
@@davidtrevino5211 what makes you think sadness was written all over his face?
David Trevino couldn’t disagree more. He seems like he is in a great place.
Bleeding out some coke too
Jesus Jason...his intensity is just mind blowing
This was at a point in James Hetfields life when he was going through some very well publicized Alcoholism, and he has since recovered but I suspect he wrote this about that time of his life. Good Job James I have been a fan since day 1
this was at woodstock
Paul Smith he meant in this era of his time in Metallica james was going through a lot. Including a public battle of alcoholism. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't drunk. This was two years before the band completely imploded with Jason leaving.
Jesse Deleon yeah haha, James was pretty drunk at this show
Paul Smith I truly hate to say this, but sometimes James Hetfield was at his best during his drinking years. Uh, sad but true?
XxxxxxxxcccPaul Smith
I don't care if its 2021, THIS is ultimate badass James! Still as excellent today as then! MetFamily loves you .
Wow I got chills watching this!!!
2018, I just felt it...again
Jason was just absolutely ridiculous. While I wish I had gotten to see Cliff, I am so glad I got to see Jason. Metallica is so many stories, one of which, is the story of their bass players. Their bass players have elevated them in every season. Had they not found the right guy, they would not have survived at every step.
Not many bands can pride themselves with a catalogue that ages like extremely fine wine. Albums that were hated when first released then, now people come back and really appreciate them more. Stuff like St Anger, Load & Reload. Truly Metallica are in a league of their own.
What a badass performance wow
This song is so underatted and the beat and lyrics and vocals are so good
That "I AM BLEEDING MEE" at 6:00 is one of the most fucking powerful things I've ever heard. Holy shit.
Nevermind changing the style...this song is simply awesome...Metallica's journey while exploring musical abilities serves them very well...I do like a lot when an artist tries to come up with something else and possibly more meaningful
How Jason backs James voice gives me chills in the video.
I thank God every day for creating Metallica, and keeping most of them around long enough to make a difference in this world, and hopefully the next.
It’s like a good shot of adrenaline!!!! God Bless Metallica!!!
7:28 is such a nice shot. Always loved this song and even more live. It has dynamic, it's hard and loud, yet quite and subtle, layers and flow and the solo is just ball breakingly good. Not the most complex, but it fits the song so well, which is what a solo should do.
I like the shot at 0:00
@@sumbitch3rdgen me too
I am freaking in love with this song \m/ Metallica rules
There’s a 22-year-old me in the crowd somewhere stage left. Now I’m 45 and these dudes are old. Sigh. I’ll never forget, sooo hot, sun setting and they open with One and the rain came. Seemed like the rain got louder cheers than any band that day.
Best song from Load and none better since
Fixxxer
Outlaw Torn is fucking awesome.
Alan Lloyd I love mama said too
Until it sleeps was a really good one too!
Low mans lyric
Load is by greatly one tragically misunderstood album. Yes, it does not sound like the big Metallica 5, but that comparison is completely unfair. Load was the product of a significant opening to the creativity of Jason and Kirk that hadn't happen before (at last not to this degree). With load, James and Lars explored different stylistic and song writing elements, which lead to a very dramatic change to their sound. I think this album had great gems, like bleeding me, Mama said, The outlaw torn and more, which sadly may had being drowned by the noise of the disappointment that many felt in light of such transformation.
James always sings Bleeding Me excellently, but am I the only one who would love to hear a version with just Jason singing the chorus?
totaly rigth Men.... james need Jason voice in backvocals..... now he is getting old so need there voice more than ever.... trujillo well..... nothing to say about him.... good skills on bass but i dont see nothing spectacular on him so boring

Yup.Jason is easily my favorite Metallica member.
Yep
I love Jason!! He fitted so much better than Robert...

Yes!Jason on the bass, this is the era 'Metallica ' I like best ,rob is ok but Jason is what enjoy best.
Jason Newsted was Metallica, he was everything Metallica is.

My favorite Metallica song along with No Leaf Clover. This song is beautiful
6:37 One of the handful of solos from Kirk where wah is most definitely needed - the expression on some of those bends with the wah sound awesome.

Hopeless morons say so.

+do geese see god? You must be hearing them wrong. Load/ReLoad was THE shit
+Pajtim Hasani I love Load/Reload but people are entitled to their opinions. You can't expect everyone to like what you like as well. It doesn't make them, "hopeless morons" because of a difference of opinion, lol.
A good song is a good song. You may not like it today, 5 years ago, 10 years ago. But you'll be surprised when it ambush you out of nowhere and you're not ready.
James writes what he feels, not what people would want to buy. That's why his songs feel so real. You WILL like it, someday, 5 years, or 10 years from now. You'll see.
05:10 - 06:02 he is feelin' it!

Super under-rated song!! If an up and coming band had made a song like this, it would be a major hit. One of my favorite songs by Metallica of all time. People expect heavy when they hear the word Metallica, but why can't a song like this be appreciated as a single work of art? Amazing performance and a great song!
This song is from the depths of hell...just a great song. James is crazed during that break -- the drink is no doubt bleeding him something fierce by 1999. He's a year-or-so away from the wife nearly kicking him out and getting into therapy.
Man I love it when James goes all primal Hetfield on that guitar.
Yeah, Metallica... I heard them 35 ago for the first time and nothing changed till now. Love from first sound... to the last breath .
Jason's addition to vocals is excellent!
Damn, I still miss Jason. Rob is great and all but Jason fit the band so much better. Plus his backing vocals were badass.
You pretty much summed it there bud
Rob’s most closest to cliffs style. Seen cliff twice and rob is up there. Jason was just a good backup singer, his wah wah style of bass was not much
And his energy
He is too fucking metal. Too metal for his own good
I miss Jason because he's 10,000 times the man Rob is.
7:13 Look at him go... I sure miss Jason...
God damn I miss Jason! Just his energy! I like rob nothing wrong but Jason brought something
I don't fucking care what anyone says, Load, is hands down Metallica's best album.
I totally agree. great musical dynamics, listenable, technical. People just want to hear them go a million miles per hour, and will complain anything that's not.
amen
I think Load is better than Kill Em All and Death Magnetic...
You people are all deranged
Definitely one of their best works
That little "AAAAH" at 5:22, that's how i want to feel about my life
