Men most of the time don't understand this. They think we want a solution and than ask "What should or can I do? Why do you tell me this when I literally can't take your pain away."
When we just want empathy and compassion. Just some form of recognition and understanding that it is in fact hard or painful. Nothing more or less.
It's scientifically proven that mens first instinct is to solve problems that's why their reaction don't go the way us women would go to. Ofc there are always exceptions.

My darling husband wasn't dumb enough to tell me things like that. Heck he was more telling me that he would like me to restore and not do so much. But I did have man foolishly risk life and limb by cutting in front of me at the corner store when I was 38 weeks pregnant. I cleared my throat and told him that there was a line. He turned around saying "What are you going to...." It was at that point he saw my absolutely massive pregnant belly. (Mind you this was mid June in San Antonio, TX. We were already hitting triple digits.) He just looked at my clearly not having any of his nonsense expression, then at the clerk, who had a "you done screwed up" smirk, and the three people behind me that he also cut in front of, and just slunk to the back.

Man, that last 6 weeks or so before my son was born was roooooough. I was so miserable. Everything hurt. I was constantly out of breath. I went back and forth between having searing heartburn and diarrhea, constantly. I was so swollen that it hurt to bend my fingers and elbows. I had my baby at 39 weeks, and I believe my final weight gain was 34 lbs. I was just so so so swollen. I had lost all but 12 lbs of it within 2 months, so I think it was mostly water retention.

As a father of 2, it does help to go "yes it'll be tough, though we know what's a ahead, are prepared, I'm right here with you taking care of x/y/z, and you have the strength in you to make this work".
Where prepared means to talk about food, clothes, massages, driving, how to spend time waiting, opinions on medical interventions, possible complications, music, preferred distance, place of birth (hospital, birthing center, home), people around after, who to call after, how to meet siblings, ... and the possibility that she may want something completely different than discussed in the moment and to be supportive of that.
In every prep course I've been there was some dad asking "what am I supposed to even do" or stating "you can basically only stand by the bed and hold the mom's hand", lol
For our second, my wife had her screaming "I can't do this" moment minutes before the baby was born, but we'd talked about that unavoidable mental state beforehand so I was able to honestly and truthfully comfort her that she was doing great and it worked out perfectly.

All these videos make we want to cry. It’s like she cut out moments of my life. I had extreme ppd, and could not even tell anyone because I didn’t understand. I felt like if I actually told anyone how I felt they’d take my infant. I realize now- that was the ppd increasing my anxiety and paranoia. I was sinking and in full autopilot mode. I felt like I was screaming for help through smiles and tiny comments about needing a little help. “You’re fine. This is normal. Enjoy this time. Sleep when he sleeps.”

When carrying my 1st and nearing my due date, I couldn't drive. Between my sighing and whatever, she says to me 'when you think you can't stand it anymore, you have another week to go'. Marked that day on my calender, and she was dead on.
    All four times!

My poor aunt had a 11.5 pound and 21 inches long baby, and wouldn't dilate past 6 after 16 hour of labor, refusing pain meds because of her addiction history. She was induced 2 weeks before her due date. We joked that if she had waited he could have drove her home. It was the most intense 16 hours I've ever witnessed. (Yes I got to be there, I was 16 and so excited). When I get scared about birth when I eventually have kids I think about her and say if she could do THAT, I can too.

ah pregnancy. i lost it over a snickers bar one time. i had an absolute breakdown. beside myself with grief and misery. i wanted a king size and they only had….. the minis in bags… i sobbed in a gas station. at 1 in the morning. loudly. with witnesses. cried the whole way home and then cried myself to sleep that night. still a little pissy about that one to be honest

I have chronic pain from a minor pregnancy inconvenience (SPD caused me severe muscular pain including sciatica). I thought i had GERD late in my pregnancy and for the first year post-partum, it was nightly gallbladder attacks! My physio said to me at 37 weeks that i had dropped and I'd probably deliver by the end of the week going on my walk and the way my ligaments felt, i was pregnant for another MONTH after that! The only thing worse than your partner dismissing your pain is the medical staff who are supposed to be supporting you doing it.

Not a native speaker here 🙋🏼‍♀️
English language has always buffeled me in that way. For example I'd go like "This place is weird and give me the creeps, let's leave" and the answer would be "No, you're fine". Like WHAT? Do I not understand smth? I just *told* you I'm not fine, you *can't* tell me that I'm fine, it's not for you to decide. And the list of examples goes on and on and on. Still makes me effing mad. 😡
