I love this being a WEC game. The 3 categories of WEC car are so different and all feel and look great and the circuits are some of the best in the world. I really hope this gets the love it deserves from Motorsport Games as with the right treatment and with the promised 2024 cars too it really could be fantastic.
The GTP are the easiest cars in iRacing to drive. So I was gutted when I jumped into a hypercar and found I was really not ready for it. I'd recommend anyone starts off in the GTEs. The driving experience for the GTEs is far more involving than most cars in most sims so I'd say forget how good you think you are and start with the slowest cars. You can be a hero in iRacing drifting all the way round a corner in a GTP, but then be completely humbled on first try of a GTE in LMU. The physics are just that much more complex that I think many might need to take a minute to relearn to drive. As an example, I do 1:47s in the P2 at Sebring in iRacing. And around 1:57 in LMU. There's an actual skill involved that I am yet to develop.
Top speed in the Hyper Cars are much faster than on IRacing. I am only 6 months into having a sim racing rig and I love the driving feel of LMU over IR. Also like that I can see tyre temps on LMU vs IR.
@@ABCKickboxingFitnessi'm not sure, but the iracing GTP cars are most likely the IMSA spec, compared to the WEC spec, which might explain something but not all
For anyone struggling to feel what the car is doing through the ffb: for me it helped a LOT to turn the feedback strength above 100%, as the clipping was barely noticeable, if not, even completely absent. I could feel the weight transfer sooo much more.
First off, I’m an huge iRacing fan and it’s my sim of choice but the engaging feel I get whilst driving this game is on another level to the equivalent cars in iRacing. Maybe it’s because I’ve done so many laps in iRacing that new is novel, but I find I’m having to concentrate so much more to eek out those extra tenths in LMU. There’s more variance to the lap due to the slip angles and throttle control is on another planet to other sims. I feel now like I’m driving the car, rather than driving the game. Very good review. I felt the same about how the FFB doesn't really give much information on corner entry, especially in the hypercars. But it's early access, and I think they have a good foundation.
LMU is so engaging and I love how the FFB vibrates and starts "breaking down" as you push the limit of grip in long turns. I'm so smitten with the physics and ffb. It doesn't feel over the top like RF2, which I don't like. LMU is currently my favorite sim. I'm so glad I bought early access.

the main problem i'm having right now it's the lack of grip on slow cornes with hypercars, any input above 35% the car just wants to rotate, i can't get confidence driving them anywhere
The Hypercars are 4 wheels drive after a certain speed, and revert to 2 wheels on low speed (FIA rules) that makes you basically drive them differently

Great review. Spot on. I cant tell if physics are accurate but its far more exciting. I think slip angle is a little overdone but this game makes iracing driving feel even more boring. The bugs are really a killer and they need to get to fixing asap or we will lose the userbase quick.
While in iRacing it's said you need to underdrive the car I find that in rF2, and LMU for that matter, you need to overdrive it. LMU feels a bit different from rF2 but I feel like these differences go against other parts of the physics behavior inherited from rF2. The tyres in LMU are more punishing over the limit, when you lock up under braking or give it a bit too much throttle, but you still need to rotate the car quite a lot and abuse the tyres' wide slip range to go fast. In rF2 the tyres are less punishing over the limit so you can make use of that extra slip range without the car snapping on you without warning, so I'd say that rF2 still has a more intuitive and consistent driving experience. I feel like LMU's more punishing tyres over the limit make sense, but not when you still need to do the rF2 drift into and through a turn. If they were to tighten up the rest of the slip feel, not just the over the limit bit, then the physics behavior would feel more consistent and coherent.

Default setup huh ? You can dial out that sliding pretty easily, unlike AMS2, it is not part of the engine. Just a look at the default setup you can see that the camber alone is helping that slide in the defaults. I spent about 20 hours now since release and to be fair I got to a level where I drive like in ACC, which is for most people known as the "understeery sim".
When it chatters that just means that your tc is kicking in, turn it down if you want it to step out when shifting down too fast. I am mainly driving the lmp2, it always breaks lose when you shift down too fast haha (iRacing)

I wish iracings tires were half this good. They have the rfactor dev that made these, now, right? lol
I purchased the game because I really enjoy the LMPs and Hyper cars (and yes, to support the developers). There are some show stopping bugs (sometimes when I pause the game and go into the settings to tweak things, upon leaving the settings and unpausing, the car either plants partially into the asphalt (think Philadelphia experiment) or is suddenly flung skyward and tumbles back to the ground with a damaged engine as my wheel spins violently, potentially causing injury (they really need to fix these sort of things). But these are not frequent occurrences thankfully. When everything is functioning as it should, its a solid game with huge potential! The dev team really needs to keep full throttle on as many fixes as often as possible to bring the game to a more stable and enjoyable state. IMO, "Early Access" should not be a 'blank check' to be able to ship a game in any sorry state. I think in this case, it could have benefited from a bit more time in the oven so to speak.. but I guess Motorsport Games needs money and fast..
The lockup must be your PC set-up. I’m on a 1070GTX, coupled with 32gb RAM and a Ryzen 9 3900x, and with a full grid (all visible), on HIGH at Spa…never had a lock-up.
How does LMU handle the hybrid side of things? rF2 can't do it so how does LMU manage? It sounds like they made a copy of rF2 that's not as good as rF2.
I'm really nervous about Motorsport Games being behind this. Seems like it could be abandoned at any minute. But I've also heard a lot of praise for it, the immerison, the multiplayer, the feel. I haven't bought it yet but at the price point it's almost worth it as it is now from what it sounds like. It costs like 3 cars in iRacing 😅
@@kekke2000 yup, they definitely got that price point right. You know you can't entirely trust its future, but at that price you know you're going to buy it eventually. May as well get it now! I did, and it's proper fun.
I’m gonna wait and see how this pans out, but I’m excited to see what the full game looks like in 6 to 12 months. Motorsport Games have had a lot of issues, but I hope this succeeds as it seems it will help RF2 in the long run and the more good sims we have the better. Look at what’s happened to Rennsport, that game is DOA and seemingly even the esports side has died off. Thanks OverTake crew and Emily for yet another great video.
t's unbelievable to me that iRacing, which requires a subscription, doesn't invest in continuously upgrading the visuals. In terms of pricing and player count, it should be on a similar level to the new titles.
Having the opportunity to spend five years in I racing and 4000 hours in race factor two. Once do you know the inner core function of the game? It’s actually not bad navigate Emily it just takes a minute to get up to speed I was in a club in I racing used to do on average 15 hours a week for five years. Race factor two is as good RF 2 Is as good if you give it a chance. As for the new take Lemans, I’ve only spent an hour on it but yes, it’s basically an extension of RF two. Where race factor to really accelerate it’s the modern community. If you haven’t been to Race department, then you have an experienced.RF2
It was okay, I guess I'm just so used to iracing, it is going to take a massively better sim to break me away. And thats going to be hard to do for anyone. Well made game though.
Whatever!!!!! I don't do either one of these games - because. LMU might be a good game, but only has 7 tracks to race on and I have the same tracks in RFactor 2 - so why do I need this LMU game. I will check back sometime in the future to see if they add any more content . But I doubt if they ever will. This game is like ACC - too specific of a racing series - not for me. IRacing, I will never pay for a monthly subscription based game. I do only one time buys of racing games on STEAM and usually try to buy them on sale. Plus, I do not have the dedicated time to do IRacing to even get my moneys worth of playing it. AMS 2, RFactor 2, and Assetto Corsa are my 3 racing games. Allot of variety and content to these games. I do have ACC since they have good DLC content.
Just to quote Alberto Naska: "I've been racing in real life for 7 years, over 120 races, so many different cars. I think I can do a comparison between virtual and real.... iRacing is the worst simulator of all. Especially the tyremodel has nothing to do with real life, while the best in my honest opinion is rFactor 2." He was saying that in his video testing a Cadillac prototype in a multi-million dollar simulator and you can see how he's struggling with that car, so they are probably a handful.
Race the latest content like say GTP, LMP2 & GT3 at Daytona, and the game looks as modern as any other - but once you step into the cars and tracks that were built a decade ago or more things start to look a bit ancient. I get that iRacing can't scan every track again as it would take a decade, but they should put more effort into cosmetic updates for the tracks they do have. Bathurst for example, even without a full rescan it needs an refresh to update stuff like some of the horrible textures and clunky tree models.
@@AndreMiguelLopes69I love how iRacing players are always defensive and don’t want anybody to criticize the game xD Let’s be honest it looks like shit. What saves iRacing is relatively good car models, but the tracks, trees and all are very old assets and the lighting is very very basic. It’s time for them to upgrade their engine and assets. IRacing is my favorite sim and i play it regularly, but it doesn’t mean it cannot be criticized.
@@nicolaslopez3987100% it can be improved. But it’s also not fair to call it 2005 graphics. There truth is it’s not the best, but it’s not terrible. They did say they have a current project for a graphics overhaul in their recent dev update.
Huh... What do you mean. It's RF1 by ISI into S397 RF2 into S397 LMU. RF1 into AMS1 where it stopped and they started using the pcars2 engine for AMS2. Dude if everything releases uncooked the hope in sims and general gaming is lost. They have other products to look at. You can't release something that isn't finished.
FFB is still the same as rf2. In other words, terrible. So many go on about physics and ffb in rf2 being world leading, but both are still a mess of compromises created for older wheel hardware. What is interesting is the same bugs as rf2 are in LMU. The game crashes in the same places. The game freezes in the same places. The game drops ffb in the same places. If you think is all coming from an iRacing fanboi, you are wrong. I see all sim titles as lacking in large areas.
Like always, a lot of salt in the comments. From the same ones who would play iRacing all day long if it was free and if they accepted underage members.
There is no excuse for a company to release unfinished software (configuration, ...). Early releases should be to optimize the model. Imagine they serve you half-cooked food in a restaurant as early access. It is all about money. Take RF2, polish it, and release it. Pay some UA-camrs to create hype about the game. Then, there is the magic of raising funds from investors to complete the game. Once the funds are raised, the mission is accomplished. This is behind wondering why a new product and not RF2.
Why? It's a 2024 release vs a 2010 or early game. Surely they woulda learnt on the way here what's good and what's bad. Also stop accepting undercooked products, you're being part of the problem. Just look at how fucking raw ACE is released now. Even worse than LMU, way worse actually. Rawer than Gordon's trainee's lamb.

I have the same lockup problem on Eau Rouge, it must be a bug. I'm running ultra settings on 4070, 32 gb ram and 12600k.
So you’re gonna assume from two examples that it’s a PC issue just because it hasn’t happened to you? That’s wild lol
I've the same lockup on Eau Rouge, and I'm on a 5800X3D with 32gb of ram and a 4090... good for ya you do not get the problem, but it is there.
It could be the ultra post processing settings or so they caused this
Silly to invalidate someone's experience because your experience was different.
I really like the Porsche but that thing is a wild horse😂😂😂
So far the corvette suit my driving style (rockie style 😂)
There is no turn name 200R at Fuji 😉Only 100R and 300R. I thought you meant 100R :) Cheers, cool review.
I don't agree at all with the claim, that LM is similar to rFactor 2. I think, it is a huge step upon rFactor 2 already at this stage.
Excellent review
i'm in iracing but the management of the hybrid system in lmdh is totally wrong, in lmu is correct
How does LMU handle the hybrid side of things? rF2 can't do it so how does LMU manage? It sounds like they made a copy of rF2 that's not as good as rF2.
no other sim manage the hybrid system like LMU
I'm going to wait at least a year before I get this game (just like FM)
I'm really nervous about Motorsport Games being behind this. Seems like it could be abandoned at any minute. But I've also heard a lot of praise for it, the immerison, the multiplayer, the feel. I haven't bought it yet but at the price point it's almost worth it as it is now from what it sounds like. It costs like 3 cars in iRacing 😅
@@kekke2000 yup, they definitely got that price point right. You know you can't entirely trust its future, but at that price you know you're going to buy it eventually. May as well get it now!
I did, and it's proper fun.
LMU makes i racing feel like a kids game.
setup setup setup 1 things or 2 and evaluate
and repeat
lol your good have fun!
Refunded, will try again next year!
Pure Eargasm!!

I really have fun with the game, after being frustated with Forza. I hope the game become better and better.
Thanks for the review i just uninstalled iracing. LMU is the best sim!
Idk how you’re comparing a early access game to a game that’s been around for over a decade 😂
Definitely my new favourite sim. The potential is huge!! Hope they will handle it better than RF2.
Nolan Terrace
It was okay, I guess I'm just so used to iracing, it is going to take a massively better sim to break me away. And thats going to be hard to do for anyone. Well made game though.
Rickie Passage
Glad you experienced a real racing simulator. Practice makes perfect 😉
Iron Dames ftw
not easy to get out of your comfort zone, good luck with iracing
ACC of assetto Corsa? Wtf, 2 different game engines.
Just to quote Alberto Naska: "I've been racing in real life for 7 years, over 120 races, so many different cars. I think I can do a comparison between virtual and real.... iRacing is the worst simulator of all. Especially the tyremodel has nothing to do with real life, while the best in my honest opinion is rFactor 2."
He was saying that in his video testing a Cadillac prototype in a multi-million dollar simulator and you can see how he's struggling with that car, so they are probably a handful.
Harber Square
Melisa Canyon
if you cant feel the car then turn your force feedback up
it not always work that way !
1:56 You can tell by the 2005 graphics.
I think you forget 2005 graphics. IRacing is not that bad, the recent tracks and cars look awesome.
We all can see you never played iRacing, much less the last tracks.
They did say they have a current project for a graphics overhaul in their recent dev update.
well u've been programmed like a robot in iracing. welcome back to turning human
Erna Way
So basically this game is modern automobilista as it is in essence RF1
Huh... What do you mean.
It's RF1 by ISI into S397 RF2 into S397 LMU.
RF1 into AMS1 where it stopped and they started using the pcars2 engine for AMS2.
Raceroom is based on the RF1 physics engine and Rennsport is based on the same engine.
So to all people complaining, the only not Rfactor based simulators are AC into ACC and Iracing based on the papyrus physics code of Grand Prix legends.
@@EricW6800 No, you got me wrong.
Autimobilista is pretty much rFactor 1.5, sunce it has its base around this title.
LMU will be rFactor 2.5 as it has its base on rF2
what??

I think I'm right ;)
Go to sleep instead of talking rubbish...
What is the purpose of comparing a software that has one week of usefull lifetime with another that exists since 2010/2011... Only to point the faults?
It is about analysing potential and give an overview of the current market. I think everyone here and in the community is aware that LMU is brand new and in early access :) -Michel
Thank you for your point of view... Next, i advise you to compare the rain system in rf2 and iracing... Even though i'm already sure that the water falls from sky in iracing in a much better way...
Iracing has no Yaw,
Very limited which isn’t realistic. Iracing has made it easy not as easy as ams2 but easy is not always real
iRacing is WAY clear
I think iracing creates bad drivers in my opinion as you are REQUIRED to underdrive.
And they then down talk all the other Sims that allows you to actually drive to the limit
This is behind wondering why a new product and not RF2.
crasy how you compare a game to trash platform like iracing aka Apple sim products. -10 points for using iracing as a bench mark. RIP
slide =lost time
If iracing is your benchmark then you should enjoy proper tyre physics and ffb. I love how slip angle is a new concept for you being an ispender
Lol triggered much?
Iracing è migliore solo perché costa tanti soldi .... lmu tutta la vita
For once somebody come out with a game that's polished, here it is figure it out, terrible🙄😟😪👍🙋
black flag 🙂
That is a horrible thumbnail
IRacing is just overated AC is the best realistic Sim
Big Kappa
Comparing a early access game to a decade old game that rips you money out of your wallet faster than you can you can say go...
@Kpaxlol speaking of under cooked....
LMU i best race sim
