Let me add, as a point of curiosity, going around most tracks in a real GT3, is the steering wheel jerking and twitching all over the place? I could see it a place like Sebring, but LMU FFB just feels .... Wild. The FFB in sims like RaceRoom, iRacing and ACC feels like it's focused more on tire load than jerking all over the place on every surface irregularity. I hate adding dampening and filtering to quiet things down, but I feel like I have to dampen the crap out of my DD wheel on LMU. You tell me? How crazy is wheel feedback on a real McLaren 720 GT3?

@ oh I completely understand how sound implementation works. I’m just saying how they aren’t even remotely close when most modding teams do a much better job.
From what I understand it seems to be a bit more complex than that. You need high quality audio to put into a sim, so onboard videos on UA-cam aren't enough.

James I use a hydraulic brake. I have it set up with very little travel so change is based on pedal pressure not travel and make it so it is almost impossible for me to hit 100%. Is that how you would set your brake up?
Not sure if James gave the GT3 mods from RSS in Assetto Corsa a go, but to me they are way better than any other GT3 I tried. Compared to iRacing, Automobilista and ACC, they sound spot on and drive remarkably well.
This game is actually so good. After an unreasonable short term ban from iracing, I’ve been looking at other sims, and I am now obsessed with this. Thanks iracing! Appreciate you being absolute tossers and allowing me to dump your game :) If I’m honest, I’m over iracing. Their feel sucks, the immersion sucks, the sound sucks. The game needs to die. LMU has been so fun!
I just don’t get it. What’s up with the consistency of sims just making cars too whiney? Also on heaviness, I’m just confused on what the difference is between a car feeling heavy and the force feedback feeling heavy. Is it about being able to have a high ffb while still having a wide range between that and min ffb?
To answer your FFB question, yes I could turn the FFB up, but the car would still feel too light at times. It's very hard to explain, it's like the detail of the FFB lacks that 'heavy' feel, no matter how much you turn it up.
@ honestly I think I finally pictured it. Like a light car is going to have less variation in the strength you feel at different suspension loads maybe? And a heavy car will have that wider range of ffb til you get between suspension locks?
For me, Rf2 > LMU > iRacing > AMS2 > AC > ACC. This may be suject to your wheel base settings. I remove all filters and only use direct FFB from sim, to get the authentic feeling.
The weight of the car is best communicated in rf2/lmu, followed by iRacing. That sliding around for no reason is something I hate with ACC and that input lag, almost like you’re dragging the car through the corner.
Regarding the car weight feeling: I think Raceroom currently does that best. And since they now have a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo (in the DTM 2024 class), I would be really interested in your thoughts on that implementation. I hope you can do a video on that.
I've been staying away from LMU because the cars just feel too sketchy, they either understeer or just go into slides that shouldn't require tons of opposite lock to correct but they do. I've gone through different setups, cars, tracks and track settings but it never felt quite right. rF2 feels more coherent in this regard, compared to LMU, but the slip angles are a bit too high and drifting is way too forgiving and fast. Do these GT3s feel any different?
With tyres up to temp it’s worse, funnily enough. Happens with rF2 as well. When the tyres are cold the car actually has some play and it’s at its nicest to drive IMHO. The moment the tyres come up to temperature the car becomes even more stubborn, understeering more and snapping more aggressively when pushed harder. I have an okay understanding of car setups, I usually tinker with setups in all other sims I play (basically all commonly played ones, excluding iracing) and I can get the car to behave how I want it to. That’s why I don’t understand how people say LMU drives just like rF2. Sure, it’s the same engine and underlying physics but the final result is very different to me. I could get decent laptimes in rF2 as well, I wasn’t far off people like Michi Hoyer in some combinations if I spent some time practicing, but in LMU I get granny laptimes in comparison, 3 to 4 seconds slower to the top times. I know the competition in LMU is more fierce because it’s more focused, but while in all the other games I play I can tell where time is being lost, in LMU it just feels I have less grip sometimes. Long rant I guess, but ultimately I just never clicked with LMU. I guess I just have to move on.
@@nismo97 fair enough the tyre model has changed quite a bit from my understanding. for me it's the best bits of rf2 without the crazy sliding. could be a driving style thing as I feel like lmu is more punishing with overheating tyres
Not concerned at all about the audio. S397 seems to want to make the sounds in the game as close to reality as possible, theyve done that so far with every car
To be honest I feel like his complaint about the sound apply to all the LMU cars generally. I'm not saying they are bad, they are quite accurate. But the sounds being "weak" is something I agree with, especially with up and downshifts. They lack impact and energy. Which is something that I think ACC does extremely well for example.

James I use a hydraulic brake. I have it set up with very little travel so change is based on pedal pressure not travel and make it so it is almost impossible for me to hit 100%. Is that how you would set your brake up?
Not exactly, the video I'll make will explain all.
@ thanks mate
can you make a video comparing lmu, acc and iRacing to irl, and which is most realistic?
Maybe
Not sure if James gave the GT3 mods from RSS in Assetto Corsa a go, but to me they are way better than any other GT3 I tried. Compared to iRacing, Automobilista and ACC, they sound spot on and drive remarkably well.
Have tried some, maybe not the latest ones. I'll have a look
Excited for these
Get decent VR headset, whole thing become much much more immersive, specially LMU does brilliant job at it.
I've got Meta Quest 3's now brooo
When is lemans ultimate coming to console?
Not sure
This game is actually so good. After an unreasonable short term ban from iracing, I’ve been looking at other sims, and I am now obsessed with this. Thanks iracing! Appreciate you being absolute tossers and allowing me to dump your game :)
If I’m honest, I’m over iracing. Their feel sucks, the immersion sucks, the sound sucks. The game needs to die.
LMU has been so fun!
What you got early access to the GT3's😢
Hell yeee
I have the worlds best PC, 4090, 9800x3d, 64 gig and graphics are dogshit on LMU, all settings maxed out, what am I doing wrong?
Hmmm, what FPS are you getting?
Thank you for this Video. :)
Welcome!
Also, it didn't throw a rod on the cold rev! Game not Sim XD
😂
Do you think the sound is better on rF2?
Slightly better on LMU I think.
Us console gamers can use some love on the sims
I can never understand why sound replication is so bad on most sims.
How did you use qualy engine map? it has disappeared for me :/
For me, Rf2 > LMU > iRacing > AMS2 > AC > ACC.
Not sure I agree, but each to their own!
I feel like regarding sounds, obviously in real life the sound would be muffled a bit under your helmet, but few racing games simulate that
The revs sound flat.
Its frustrating they got everything right except the straight line speed 😔
They got that right actually
@ 🤓
Regarding the car weight feeling: I think Raceroom currently does that best. And since they now have a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo (in the DTM 2024 class), I would be really interested in your thoughts on that implementation. I hope you can do a video on that.
Will give it a look, cheers!
how do you have an extra telemetry overlay?
I think it's RaceLabs.
@@Wilayaat Maybe tiny pedals for damage and meteo
@@Wilayaat thank dude! Appreciate it
A mixture of Racelab & TinyPedal.
James please do new dtm 24s in race room next. Id love to get your take on those.
This feeling is pretty accurate though
are you getting the tyre temps up before pushing? sounds like weird behaviour
These feel better than the rF2 GT3's yes, mainly because the tyres behave in a more realistic manner.
i think gran turismo is the only game that gets it right
Don't agree with that my friend
Not concerned at all about the audio. S397 seems to want to make the sounds in the game as close to reality as possible, theyve done that so far with every car
To be honest I feel like his complaint about the sound apply to all the LMU cars generally. I'm not saying they are bad, they are quite accurate. But the sounds being "weak" is something I agree with, especially with up and downshifts. They lack impact and energy. Which is something that I think ACC does extremely well for example.
