I don't care if a woman is in the military or not, my problem is that there shouldn't be any changes in requirements for women. Making the selection process less stringent for women would make the institution weaker in absolute terms.

Disagree with some points. Army has rules like how long an officer/jawan can be deployed in siachen. For eg. 3-4 months is the norm. Because army know the limitations of a human is that they can for long periods stay in the cold. So now the rules are made with that in consideration. Humans have limitations nobody is perfect and women have different limitations than men. Why can't we provide those facilitiesand then see how they perform. Building a cresh in a peace area isn't that hard. Why not. We build hospitals for injured men, don't we or do we just let them stay with injury.
I agree that the criteria for an officer shouldn't be lowered but both men and women should be given facilities to enable them to have equal footing. Sure you shouldn't be able to refuse a posting, but whatever is required for the posting should be given to the officer.

@@pkm3173 I agree that army is not for empowering women over men. Then why is army so interested in training female athletes?
A recent news report titled "Girls Sports Company: Inside Indian Army’s mission to turn teenage girls into champion athletes" quotes a serving army officer as saying: "They can get employment out of it, which wasn’t possible earlier. It was high time to support women athletes... The larger logic is that if you look at the Chinese Olympic medals, almost 65 per cent come from women. That is why we felt it was important to train girls…. I feel that India will benefit when the women athletes are very strong.” In Pune, the army selected only 24 women out of 1100 applicants. At Mhow, the army selected only 11 shooters from 1200 women applicants.
This was just one example to make the argument that Indian armed forces themselves are interested in women empowerment because they believe that India as a whole will neither be empowered nor be secure if women fall behind. And the numbers cited above clearly show that even when it comes to sports selections, army does not dilute its standards to favour girls.
Now, I disagree with the idea that Feminists are invading our Army. I don't think that the first women officers were selected because some feminists protested at Jantar Mantar. If you think feminists are only interested in soft jobs that is why they are interested in becoming officers, this means you think Indian Army officer training produces softies? Or may be just the OTA produces softies? I don't think that comfort-seeking feminists even apply for the army. Look at the demographics from where Indian women become officers, you'll find that either they come from regions which are well known for tough women or they are hailing from military families themselves.
If seeking comfort was the problem, please do check with the army how many upper class, rich boys want to join the army these days. I don't think that pseudo-feminists apply to join the army. They simply won't survive the hardships.
I'll tell you one of the real reasons Army opened the door for women officers at first and not jawans. Any officer will tell you that jawans come from villages and they are not psychologically ready to salute women superiors. So this actually means that women were originally recruited as officers because military leaders were quite afraid that women jawans will be handled very badly by our male jawans. Secondly, 100 percent Indian fathers and brothers would have panicked if family's doll was asked to share tents with jawans. Indian women are soft because we keep them soft. It is a Indian Navy officer's daughter who has recently made a record of climbing 7000ft+ peaks on each continent - proof that when fathers want, women can be raised to be tough too. It is majority of Indian men who want to keep women soft because it serves our selfish purposes.
When there is the issue of Agnipath or women officers' sexual harrassment complaints, we argue that army should handle these issues internally and public would not understand. I would argue that if a handful of women COs performed poorly, the army should have made sure not to leak these reports to civilians who are now pointing to the issue to say women are unfit for the job. Army should have dealt with this internally.
There are Generals who have already disagreed with the news about women COs, publicly so on youtube.
Lastly, when male civil servants or politicians are found to be corrupt or pathetic leaders we don't say bar men from these professions. Why are we quick to jump on this "bar women from combat" because a few women didn't perform well"?
If you think feminism is a corrupt ideology, you and I must help make it a better ideology because truly strong, independent women make our burden lighter as men. We must not allow corrupt women to abuse feminism just as we don't wish to allow corrupt men to abuse our cherished values.

These are isolated examples and they should have been dealt with as discipline cases. All women officers leave behind their children to go on exercise, courses, temporary duties etc. it’s the norm. It happens all the time.
So to put it In perspective…this is a one sided story of some not so pleasant personal experiences.

It was an amazing podcast but there's one point where I disagree. The point where sir says that there's no competition where men n women compete together, so in my opinion inclusion of women in army is not for competition, as sir said both have different capabilities so i believe that inclusion of women in army is imp to use both their capabilities well and secure the nation together. The host should be capable enough to raise counterpoint and questions. Bringing one sided view shows only the myopic view of scheme of things. For your information, there was not one Rani Laxmi Bai, there were n number of such women in our history, misinformed people make bad policies. Host, your choice of subject was poor. You are not capable enough to nor ask questions on this subject neither you are capable enough to present the whole rotunda of geosocietal dynamics. Just two men bickering about women......kudos.....but it was not something new

The veteran officer is bickering ? Do you have patience to listen to him? Have you faced the situations he has faced? You are just another pseudo

okay crybaby give some counterpoints yourself. Forget Lakmi Bai, in the present scenario if women denny themselves such opportunities of courses and learning just to look after their personnel lives like the officer said, how are they in a position to earn the respect of those they lead ? And I am sure not all women in the forces are like that, in countries like Isreal, the women are groomed to be equally hardened combatants and leaders, they set apart their personnel lives and need to choose that to be a sacrfice. You dont join the millitary to show how proud you are and serve in a neat uniform with spit and polish and medals, then you joined for the wrong reasons. I would be happy if you can provide me some more information if you think this point is all invalid, that the host brought up
