so this implies just because a woman is a woman, she is not suitable for role right. can i ask is every man is suitable for commanding role? I think only men who has OLQs are but all women are just not suitable even if they have quality or not, that's what its implying right. I do know men and women are physiologically different. but what this implies women are weaker not different, I still think we are different (for example women have higher pain tolerance I'd say its a good physiological quality needed to survive in harsh conditions). but just because different does it mean not suitable at all. strength can be trained and developed. maybe all men are born with quality of doing 100 of pushups easily but women too can train for it i guess, they too can get that strength maybe it'll be harder for us but not impossible i believe. maybe we don't have those qualities above mentioned, naturally but that's why training is provided those who qualify for officer ranks via exams they face similar situations during tests written or SSBs, and then are determined if they are eligible or not. This person is not even giving proper example Vietnamese-china -usa war??? Vietnam was trapped by china and America both. no modern weapons, resulted so many casualties that men had to bring women to factories and then to war front. Everyday women used to dig 60km average underground bunkers which used to bombed by ys army yet they used to. And work on front line combat and they were struggling with internal forces too but they emerged victorious. Russian fighter pilots ? Ladies use to change broken part of plane mid air . They too were being political right? I saw a documentary on a female truck driver, who was a housewife but had to become a truck driver for survival of her family after her husband's death. she faced difficulties including attacks, hiding her identity(disguise herself as man), and basic hygiene issues and all, but what would have happened to her children if it was not allowed or a rule would have suggested or implemented that no woman can drive truck livelihood or not. Whatever field infact when women started to study most men and women as well(majority back then) hated that as well. Every other field too by the way still hated infact. Don't lower the standard, consider them weak, different but at least chance should be given, choice should be given.

Women can join the armed forces but they can not be in the infantty. Because women are far too valuable for any society to be martayerd in the battlefield. The purpose of having a military is to protect the women and children of the country so it won't make sense to send the very people on the frontline to die we are trying to protect in the first place . Its like we are trying to protect the treausry using golden bullets.

When there is no dearth of perfectly fit Male candidates, then why put Women in harm's way? People need to understand the requirement and what is required to defend us. Everyone is talking about gender neutrality. Then, why are women still not allowed in infantry to fight on the front line? Have women ever asked the government to not post them on the front line ? It's just the narrow mindset of men that is not allowing women to show their capabilities. Just because of a few examples you are judging the whole women community. If a man asks to stay for his family just because there is no one to take care, will you judge the whole men community? You won't and that's the bitter truth of our society. Examples of Israel and Afghanistan are given where women are not even allowed to roam freely and you're talking about women not being on the cross border battle in these countries. Seriously.

Women entered army as short service commissioned officers, it has been more than three decades. They've gone to courts for being Commanding Officers for grant of permanent commission. They want to be leaders of male soldiers and thats their alter egos. Till date none of the lady officers have gone to court that women should be enrolled in Other Ranks as if they already know that women will not be able to rough it out in conditions where males do. Just want to enjoy as officers want to be leaders without ever knowing or understanding what subordinates do, what kind of leader would they be if they cant even sit with their men

Disagree with some points. Army has rules like how long an officer/jawan can be deployed in siachen. For eg. 3-4 months is the norm. Because army know the limitations of a human is that they can for long periods stay in the cold. So now the rules are made with that in consideration. Humans have limitations nobody is perfect and women have different limitations than men. Why can't we provide those facilitiesand then see how they perform. Building a cresh in a peace area isn't that hard. Why not. We build hospitals for injured men, don't we or do we just let them stay with injury. I agree that the criteria for an officer shouldn't be lowered but both men and women should be given facilities to enable them to have equal footing. Sure you shouldn't be able to refuse a posting, but whatever is required for the posting should be given to the officer.

Sitting in ordinance corps and MES , POGs (people other than Grunts) can yapp a lot, tell them to come on ground, carry RLs and Mortars and do patrolling and taking fire from enemies, US Marines have got hit injured and lost lives trying to protect their madam officers in Afg..why do they only want command roles and a real commander leads by example, the officers who i mentioned did that! They are true leaders , sitting and yapping you've no right over anything, you've to earn it, crying sexism will only make jawans lose trust over you, make them annoyed and they'll not follow your command anymore

Pathetic, it is the most pathetic topic which could be taken up by the host, no civil servant would speak how women are serving in their branch openly although they serve at very difficult positions too. But this General like so many others and this loser host have the right to speak about women. Tell me how much salary difference is between a ias/ips officer and defence officers. The amount of payment and perks disparity they have makes sure that they are able to afford so many services for their children and family. With meagre salaries and no absolutely no career planning or career protection, what do they expect. Also, lady civil servants too serve at very difficult positions and have much much more "options" to support them and their families. Can you provide the lady officers in Defence with same. If not then keep your gob shut and EVOLVE AND CHANGE. Host, you are the pathetic person I have ever seen wherein two men are discussing women with no other representative and host you are clearly not equipped to handle such responses and put up counter questions. That Rani Laxmibai example by the host and the reply by General Saab is the most sickening reply I could have ever seen. There were n number of women military strategists not just in India but in whole world. Whether you like it or not change is here and you cannot do anything about it
