I'd like to see KOL use Ethan Johns and Angelo Petraglia as their producers, again. WALLS has a few good songs, but KOL is slipping dangerously close to homogonized pop music as their staple. More "Taper Jean Girl";...and less cheesy "Oh-Oh-Oh" generic overdubs. Beware the dark side, boys, and leave Wham! resting in peace.
They've been at the homogonized pop side for the last three albums, don't think we'll ever see them create music like their old style because thats not what theyre about now.. I'm just happy their first three albums exist because they are some of my favourite albums ever
Yeah, it's like those Grammy's were the worst thing to happen to them, in retrospect. Really good bands seem to loathe that version of success until they attain it...and suddenly become addicted to the "cheddar"...spending all their effort on maintaining the status quo. I'm playing the heck out of those early albums, too...like rare, vintage wine. As they tour Europe to promote their new album, it will still be the oldies that will create the crowd "buzz".
Yep pretty much, sometimes no winning for artists though when it comes to evolving.. if they stay the same theyll get slated and if they evolve into something people dont like theyll get slated, definitely agree though that their older music is just so much better I'm always playing them older albums too.. I'll be at one of them Europe shows, hopefully they bring out some old ones!
I hear ya, and I do still love 'em, regardless. Their new album is headed to number one on the Billboard 200 chart, btw. They swing through Europe....Germany and the UK with multiple dates in February. I always enjoy seeing the enthusiasm of the Euro audiences when the videos are available. Have fun at the show (s) !
Yeah course I'll always be a fan and I'm happy with all the success they've gotten.. as any true fan should be! We've always had good crowds here in the UK, hopefully won't be any different haha, thanks!
the kings baby
