There are very few KOL interviews that feel so natural and interesting such as this one. I enjoyed listening to their answers to questions that are never asked by interviewers, so thanks Zane Lowe, you're an amazing interviewer. And I think the guys also enjoyed giving this interview.
Just came back to say that Zane was absolutely right. Golden Restless Age hits you in the face the moment you hear it. Probably the best song on the brilliant new album.
They did an amazing job on this album. To be honest I was pretty underwhelmed by their 3 previous releases. At one moment I thought that KoL will be my nostalgia band and I will not expect anything significant from them anymore. But I have to say- this album blew my mind! It's so balanced, smooth, catchy, and fresh! It's easily in my top 3 of their albums! Welcome back, boys!
@@coycoberly4162 i've been following them since their first album. (9yo me) saw them live when i was ten for the first time. (Day Old Belgian Blues) is a cd they made from that show. Youth and young manhood, aha shake heart break. Best albums in my opinion. Because they we're straight up garagerock back in the day. Now i've grown up with their music and i feel like the music matured in the same way as i matured.
@@coycoberly4162 Same. That album made me a fan. Before that I really didn't pay attention to them but Beautiful War's performance on 2013 EMAs and it's bass line immediately caught my ear and I looked up for their back catalogue and was amazed by it.
The album is dynamite I started listened to it in my shower yesterday and it was the longest shower ever. Kept it on all day. I’ve enjoyed every album they’ve made but this was special. Love them.
Personally my favourite albums are still Because of The Times and Only By The Night but every album has songs I really enjoy. For this new one my favourites are A Wave, 100,000 People, and Golden Restless Age. Edit: Time in Disguise has grown on me too.
I love this album. I’ve not settled on a fave yet, but so far I love playing on repeat: A Wave, Golden Restless Age, Echoing, Bandit, When You See Yourself, Stormy Weather. The third play of the album made me cry. I was pretty shocked coz I wasn’t feeling unhappy. Once my record shop opens I’ll be buying it to celebrate the end of lockdown. Much love from the UK. Thank you KOL🔥💥🥰X
The thing that gets me about KOL is like, when Caleb said "..discovering new music..", if I'm not mistaken, they didn't listen to anything but church music until they were well on in age and God BLESS Caleb for his interest in old music! They weren't raised like I was, with all the old Grand Ol Opry stars' music, playing on Dad's AM car radio, the earliest 60's music an older & sister played and the early 70's pop music 45 rpm records my friends & I used to play on our little record players. They found their own sound anyway!!
I’m an album 1-3 lover always and forever but I, like Zane, just enjoy the noise they make and am very excited about this new album. Can’t believe I’ve been following y’all for 20+ years.
nice interview. deep interview. i guess we always think about musicians like gifted people that just get up in the stage and play, we never get to see the struggle (creative process) part. this interview showed that and it makes me want to hear the whole album even more.
Yeah, I love this album, this band, their range of music. Like Zane my mom recently passed away with dementia and this song spoke to so many emotions during that time that raged without a name, expression, or understanding. This song gave me a way to understand what happened, thank you so much.
I hope you are doing ok. I lost my mom in early 2022, also and 100K People touched my heart and soul. I plyed it for her the night she passed and I hope she loved it too. I still can't listen to it without tears but I know she is in a better place. Thank you KOL for that.
Amazing interview glad you mentioned everyone in the band having such an important role in making their music so great and mentioning Jerad's bass playing... Freaking LOVE KOL for life... So special ....
It's a lovely album. I'm amazed. I can't stop listening to it. Every track is an amazing journey. Love it. Thanks for giving us your music KINGS OF LEON. Great interview by the way.
WoW......THIS INTERVIEW IS AMAZING!! YOU ASK GREAT QUESTIONS! THINGS NO ONE ELSE ASKS. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. & NOW YOU HAVE ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER 👍👍👍 CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU INTERVIEW ALL MY FAVORITE BANDS. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE IS CHRIS CORNELL, UNFORTUNATELY THAT FUTURE INTERVIEW WILL NOT HAPPEN ☹️. BUT I WILL DEFINITELY BE SEARCHING FOR A PAST INTERVIEW WITH HIM OR ANY OF THE BANDS OR ARTISTS THAT HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO WORK WITH HIM. 🎶💕 R.I.P. CHRIS ❤️
I just bought the album because of the cover and an intuitive thing I sometimes follow and I had heard the name but never listened to them. Wow. This is growing on me and now I'm wondering what to do about that.
I think they peaked during the first three albums, a bit on Only By The Night (in a mainstream way), and pretty good since. I think they massively underplay their earlier songs.
Mesmo não entendendo, eu quero lhes dizer que amei vê-los, dizer também que gosto muito de ouvir suas músicas, belos jovens, torço que continuem fazendo sucesso e que sejam felizes. Tudo de bom.
Had a major KOL re visit before this new record comes out. Debut was great but confused. Album 2 and 3 utter genius. 3 and 4 so so. Mechanical Bull better than memory when re listened. Walls fantastic, reckon new LP will be up there
I do like the new album, but I must say that ‘WALLS’ is my top favourite album from the band, but the new album is up there in my top 5, and I personally think that there are great songs, and ‘Golden Restless Age’ is a fantastic song and the best on the album, and the guitar on that song feels a little bit like an Eagles song, in fact, a few of the Kings Of Leon songs on the other albums feel a bit like songs from The Eagles, but in a modern era, however I think there are great songs on the new album, but I think ‘Supermarket’ is the weakest song on the album in my opinion.
That's so weird when he said all the album titles are 5 syllables. Never noticed- but he's also wrong. Walls is not 5 syllables. *edit- annnd it is also 5 syllables. Wild.

I don't like the assumptions of the interviewer. Gets on my nerves when he's trying to make thier lives out to be something he IMAGINES in his own head. Annoying!

Zane has interviewed them since the beginning of Kings of Leon so they are friends

I’d say it could be my fav kings of Leon song I’ve ever heard. It’s perfect abs that’s a bold system
Agreed also Time in disguise is also very good song!
I can’t stop listening to it. Just ace.
My favorite band hands down 😍 there’s something about them and their music that just speaks different ❤️
do you listen to stone roses?
@@PazLeBon not even closely related music wise
I love how this video is in B/W as well in sync with their album theme. And if the teasers are anything to go by, we're in for a treat.
I love how they never talk over each other
Every time he sings "nothing makes me feel the way you do" makes me fall in love with someone... but... i am not in a relationship lol

EXACTLY! i only found the mixing of Caleb's voice a bit of. But hey, as an artist who am i to point out artistic choices.
I didn't even listen to KOL until Mechanical Bull came out, BUT...I LOVE EVERY ALBUM! IDK if I to actually pick a Favorite Album!!!

Omg can it be released already 😭 I can’t wait to hear all the tracks!!!
Thank you guys for working on A Wave and not departing from it. One of the best from the album!

It’s sad I haven’t heard any new material on the radio.. the promotion isn’t strong as previous albums.
its sad you still listen to radio
@@jaxpink4555 yeeah there’s a thing out there called Sirius Xm .. its really popular.
Radio is just getting weaker and weaker. Too much BS nowadays.
I think this album isn’t radio friendly as previous. Not sure that makes sense
Why spend alot of money on radio promotion? They already got their fanbase. More than enough to fill arenas and headline festivals.
