Carlos I have a 19 Roush Stage 3 and put some Nitto 555R2 or Mickey Thompson ET Street SS drag radials on the back and they are game changers with traction. Both very streetable tires.

So that everyone is clear about what happened on the first race. The Roush driver had no business manually shifting that 10spd from a dig, it’s the 18+ mustang’s cheat code. Once he let the auto do it’s thing on the second race and beyond, none of the races were close. The 10spd keeps the mustang in it’s power band! No more manually shifting 10r80 equipped mustangs please! Great video 👍🏾
For those who missed everything in the first race (including the OP apparently) the guy driving the Roush was in Line Lock mode at the start of the race and you can see his tires spinning but he's standing still. That's used to warm up the tires so his front brakes are engaged and rear tires already spinning when the guy says go lol. To add on to the lack of proper traction, the guy was also short shifting using the manual mode (paddle shifting) which defeats the entire purpose of having that 10speed auto. You also can't really "miss" a gear in the sport mode, but he probably fudged that up too somehow lol. Terrible first race and the latter ones happened as expected. Kia is a decent car, but the power/weight ratio for the RS3 Roush comparatively sets it far ahead, especially in a roll race. Bad match up and not sure why they didn't catch this in the edits or do 2 races of each for comparison.
@@matteo_syd7271 ah, I see at 6:50 he's shifts from 1st to 2nd and almost immediately after hitting the paddle he hits it again. Not sure if he actually short shifted or not but that's what it looked like to me. A good tuned RS3 or even FBO gen3 coyote should be able to hit 7200rpm and I would bet my bottom dollar he was shifting at or around 6k
Yep and the cats are most restrictive after that. If you know how to drive the stinger...you can decimate almost everyone on the road. Tuning a stinger gets you FAR below 4 sec 0 to 60 and puts you at low to mid 11s at 1/4m.
Roush Stg 3 driver here. Very impressive race and mad props to the Kia. I always drive around in Track or sport plus... got to be fully focused though.
A fan of both cars...Huge Stang fan but really impressed with the Kia Stinger. Yeah, at double the HP and significantly higher price, the Stang would have been expected to win by a good margin. Well done Sam
Very have a very nice sound and that 10 speed is crazy fast. I miss my ‘14 5.0 wish I never sold it. Especially cuz it was pre corona and I only got 16k for a ‘14 track pack with gt500 grille and wing. It was also lowered with a full exhaust and bolt ons. At least the guy I sold it took has taken good care of it
Just got a Stinger GT. I'm coming from a 2020 Mustang GT pp2. I loved my Mustang, but damn, Kia absolutely nailed a great experience with the Stinger. It is subtle, until you get on the gas and it lets loose. The Mustang was my dream car but it was uncomfortable after a few hours. The Stinger is just an absolute joy to drive.

People. No matter what u drive. Never roll race a 5.0. Supercharged or not. Never a good idea unless u want to loose. The 5.0 in all its 3 gens is an absolute beast
Calm the hell down. A 5.0 without major mods isn't all that fast. Stock for stock a 382hp 340i would take it. 5.0 does mid 12's and 340i does low 12's at a higher speed..
For what its worth... The Kia has a totally usable back seat for adults and four doors... We love our 2018 GT1.. Have the JB4, midpipes and cold air, it's loads of fun. Thanks for the testing, sorry i was late to the party.
Torque number that's posted for the stinger is too low. Has to be higher, typically if it's making 500hp it'll be making between 550-600ft-lbs. Factory stingers dyno at around 330whp, 390wft-lbs

Sam the quality of your videos is really good. I like all of the different angles you are using now. It really looks great. Do you know if the Stinger had the “brake snip” or a TCU tune for boosted launches? By default the Stinger doesn’t build significant boost off the line. However, a simple modification can allow the car to build significant boost off the line. With boosted launches the Stinger are significantly faster.
All s550 autos do not use paddle shifters. it makes the cars much slower. throw it in sport and right before the car switches gears throw it in drive. Let the car do the work.

That Ikea stinger that was a good race that a Kia stinger is lighter than the 5.0 the motor in in the Kia stinger is impressive I think that was a Fair race and just like always the 5.0 always pulls it off there's not much on the street that's going to beat that 5.0 actually the roush
This race was stupid. If you want to race a modded stinger vs a 750hp mustang atleast bring a proper tuned stinger. If it was a mustang GT tuned it would be fine. Jb4 is decent for what it is but it’s just a boost controller. It literally does nothing to timing fueling etc……..Get a lap 3 2.5 ECU/TCU with bolt ons. Then it will be interesting.
Agreed, but also even justa tcu or brake snip would make a big difference. lap3 2.5 or even 1.5 with a tcu tune as well will be sick. Lozic have some nice ecu tcu tunes too! meth on the stinger would make a big difference to the IATs or a proper intercooler.
@@Pratagraph yes the oem LC on stinger/g70 is the biggest problem. It builds ZERO boost. It just starts you out a 2krpm. But when you can build boost on the launch they launch like rockets. Like you said a simple TCU flash allows the stinger to launch properly. I have a stinger and do the parking brake launch it works very well. My car is bone stock does 4.2 0-60 using parking brake launch. The problem is a lot of jb4 stingers still use regular OEM LC which results in horrible 60ft’s over 2 seconds. A TCU tune or brake snip or parking brake launch will cut .5 off the 1/4 mile alone.
@@Tsand4 hey Tim, just for the record, don't do the parking brake launch. It can mess up your trans. The line pressure is too much and can cause many problems down the line. You can get a TCU tune for as cheap as 300 bucks. Trust me it's the best money youll ever spend on your car.

On the 1st race, the Roush driver didn't just muff the shifts= (he was in manual mode), he muffed the launch, big time as well.. I don't know why, but some people think a vehicle will be quicker, if they start with the rear wheels, already spinning🤦. Drag racing is all about traction, not spinning! The second race, the Roush driver tried to take off without spinning= WOULD YA LOOK @ THAT, better results🤔😉👍
Did the Roush Mustang have anti hop kit and FP half shafts? Together will help wheel spin and traction over a 1/4 will improve by approximately 1 second.
Get the TCU tune on that Stinger and it will take off way harder. A lot of what holds it back are the nannies and torque limiters to keep that 100k warranty. A TCU tune fixes that and totally changes the cars performance. With AWD it's able to take it without any short term issues anyway.
400 to 400hp Stinger vs a 750hp Mustang what if you get a Atinger with 650hp upgrades turbos using Lap3 stage 2.5 That mustang wouldnt have a chance 😂 Im glad Torq is making a 1200hp Stinger it will tear alot of cars up. What will be fair is a regular Mustang 5.0 vs Kia Stinger GT2
Fbo/meth injection ecu tuned stingers are running 10.9 1/4 miles, that would have been more of a competition for the roush. Jb4 stingers without meth usually run low 12s. Predictable outcome is predictable.
Finally someone who does a ROLL race. I love it when AWD people think they're fast and only want to do dig races. Throw some M/Ts on the mustang and we'll see who takes it from a dig lol 😆
They are making the stinger look good. I just raced an awd stinger with my 2012 tl and almost had it. The roush is supercharged with a 5.0 engine. There is no way!
I actually removed everything from my trunk as much as I could before the race (spare tire, tool, etc). But yes I am sure with a significant weight reduction I can compete or maybe even take the Roush.
A proper comparison would be an awd fusion sport twin turbo and the stinger. Those stingers are pretty privy like 40 grand.I had a brand new left over 2017 fusion sport paid 25k for it and it had 20 miles on it. That fusion twin turbo kicked butt. That was bang for the buck!
5.3 seconds for the ford. A tuned race would be nice comparison. They are very similarly priced and powered vehicles. Comparison of a 700 HP mustang to a kia is just well dim.

I ate one up in map 4 with a Lozic TCU tune. Tuned Stinger dont say much. You get up against one with the right combos you will be surprised.

There’s like 70 stingers on dragy alone with a 0-60 under 3.8, the fastest is right around 3 flat.

What about the other car being twin turbo all wheel drive? In a non prepped drag race that car has the clear advantage to me

The Stinger is a great low cost sports car. But short of a super car, not much is going to beat a 5.0 Roush Mustang.

With 670 torque it’s too much power to not have drag radials on the rear. With drag radials on the Roush tune I ran 10.78 @ 136 and 10.85 @ 135.

Get the TCU tune on that Stinger and it will take off way harder. A lot of what holds it back are the nannies and torque limiters to keep that 100k warranty. A TCU tune fixes that and totally changes the cars performance. With AWD it's able to take it without any short term issues anyway.
Stinger did well. JB4 is great for a Piggyback. ECU/TCU tunes are another story. Lozic ECU/TCU is amazing and the least expensive.

The Roush definitely missed a shift on the first run, which suckered you in worse than Hedley Lamarr's gang in Rock Ridge.
The guy should have upgraded the spark plugs prior to doing the jb4 tune that's the biggest recommend part from burger tune website!

Fbo/meth injection ecu tuned stingers are running 10.9 1/4 miles, that would have been more of a competition for the roush. Jb4 stingers without meth usually run low 12s. Predictable outcome is predictable.

Just to make it known, a ECU Tuned stinger with WMI runs 10.8 not 11.9. We should have done a real “tuned” test against this beast.
Regardless of the outcome I'd always pick the mustang or v8 in that matter over anything!

They are making the stinger look good. I just raced an awd stinger with my 2012 tl and almost had it. The roush is supercharged with a 5.0 engine. There is no way!

I actually removed everything from my trunk as much as I could before the race (spare tire, tool, etc). But yes I am sure with a significant weight reduction I can compete or maybe even take the Roush.
That Stinger is going to need a TCU tune, WMI kit and possibly a Lap3 2.5 tune if it's going to outrun that Roush Mustang
A proper comparison would be an awd fusion sport twin turbo and the stinger. Those stingers are pretty privy like 40 grand.I had a brand new left over 2017 fusion sport paid 25k for it and it had 20 miles on it. That fusion twin turbo kicked butt. That was bang for the buck!

5.3 seconds for the ford. A tuned race would be nice comparison. They are very similarly priced and powered vehicles. Comparison of a 700 HP mustang to a kia is just well dim.
