Man, you have no idea how motivating this video is. You've showed people who have been afraid of even trying game development that even though they will have to learn a lot, it's more than doable. And for more experienced people, you've reminded them of where they started and how far they've come. Great job on the game my guy :)
Wow that's really encouraging to hear. My goal for these is that people will see them and realize that they can do it too. I really appreciate the comment 🙏🙏
On top of making your first game, these progress videos have been amazing! Love the music in this video and how entertaining it was to watch given that I don't even know much about how to make a game and I don't even play much games. This game is pretty fun, looking forward to the next video!!
you were a gamedev the second you decided to work on making a game. it doesnt matter whether that was by writing the idea down, or by opening a game engine, or otherwise. you developed a game.
Thanks for the encouragement! I guess it was difficult to see myself as one until the game was finished, but you're right. I just didn't know it until now 🙏
WAIT I CANT BELIVE I MISSED THIS UNTIL NOW. In all seriousness congrats on finishing your first game! I can't imagine how amazing that must feel, also good job on the boss music, I feel like it encapsulates the fight perfectly. I can't wait to see what you make next.
Thanks man!! I really appreciate that!! Glad you like the boss music, too! Music is pretty tough for me and usually takes me a while to come up with something I like. I appreciate the encouragement! 🙏🙏
Dude you're gonna make it big one day! Your editing skills are top notch and your determination is addicting! Thank yoy for sharing. My brother's and I are getting into game dev and we are so exciting to continue, you are an inspiration and I'm gonna send them your channel
That's so cool!! Especially getting into it with your brothers too--you already have a game jam team ready to go if you ever decide to do that! I really appreciate the kind words and sharing the channel!! It means a lot! 🙏🙏
There's a better way to loop music, you'll probably use this with other games. Click on the audio file in the file system and then go to the "import" tab beside the "scene" tab at the top. There you can change the loop settings, including the loop offset. So if you want to cut out the first 5 seconds of the song, set it to 5.0 and it will loop from there, if loop is enabled. You're welcome (:
Just subbed. Gonna have to watch your other vids after I get some sleep. Gives me hope to be able to learn this myself. I started looking into Godot less than a month ago and it's pretty promising. Gonna have to keep up with the learning myself so I can make my own little game. Thanks for the inspiration!
That's awesome!! The reward of being able to make something happen on the screen is REALLY rewarding, especially when it starts making sense. If I can do it, anyone can 🙌🙌
Killed this & we look forward to the next game. Genius level haha As a multiple time winner of the game, I can leave the review of “You need to play this game! Two thumbs up!!” 😂
Ive been following the games development since almost the beginning. All I can say now is congrats ! Im really looking forward to what you’ll be making next.
Nice work mate! Now i'm sure you're familiar and will handle code with ease and you get how most godot 2D nodes work! I suggest you keep on pushing this game and start diving into the aestethic part of gamedev by using some animations, camera shake, lighting, worldenvironment to start having a style in "game juicing". Can't wait to the progress and how juiced your game could get over time 😮 Keep up the good work 😄
Thanks man!! You're right, there's still a lot I can do to add some juice. This is something that I think would be cool to come back to at some point polish it up, especially because adding things that you mentioned like lighting and animations would really go a long way 🙌
@@elfenixoscurooscuro1625 Ok so generally it works out I guess. you are the thing you are trying to be, ur just not qualified to have it as an official role
good job. I will definately check it out on itch and leave a review. Producrion value on the video is pretty gopd for having negative 1 in graphics skill. I'm just starting with godot myself after having done some python games by tutorial. Good luck with the next one.
Thank you!! I'm a little more comfortable with video editing tools than I am with something like Photoshop 😅 I appreciate the encouragement, and good luck with your Godot games! 🙏
Thank you!! I appreciate that 🙏 I use After Effects for the animations, including all the Godot editor syntax. I copy/paste the code from Godot into After Effects and manually match the font and colors to Godot's default settings. That gives me the freedom to change the background, size, and add any animations 👍
Thanks! I have a keyboard that I used as a MIDI controller, and the software I used is called LMMS. The song came out of a few days of trial and error, messing around with different chords and random notes until I had something that I liked

That's awesome, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks a lot for the support! 🙏🙏
Congrats on launching your first game! That's a huge milestone for any game dev. Wishing you the best in your future games!

also, Xscape the shape is such a good name
Thank you! 🙏 It's nice to finally have a name for it after calling it "the game" for so long 😂

Enjoy this moment as much as you can

WHAT! That's awesome, I didn't know I could do it like that haha thanks for the tip!! Good to know for the next game 🙌
Brooooo really???? I was using the audio end signal that triggers a function to play it at the end of the buildup all this time :p

The boss music was really awesome. I would never defeat the boss just for the music to loop indefinitely.
Thank you!! Really glad you like it, it was fun to make! 🙏🙏
@@GreenLightDev welcome, glad to hear it was a fun process.

you were a game dev this entire time dude :)
the game title hits hard man!
Glad you like it! 🙌🙌
very cool 👍
You can do it, Im starting a new 3d open world multiplayer rpg game (mouthfull) since ive been coding for 5 years and built up a small team.
You got this!! That sounds like it's going to be tough, but also a blast to develop!
@@GreenLightDev without enreal engine 5 it would of been a pain, and wiht unreal engine 5, its still a pain, just a more fun pain

Very cool video, can i ask how you do those Animations in your video? Also the Text looks so good
Also, how you did that at 5:58? Like cropping the godot Editor Syntax?

Remember me when your famous

You made it to the boss, let's go!! 🙌
can I also be a game dev
Heck yeah you can!
This is awesome!
It's a shame that "Xscape" is how some people actually pronounce escape
Now there's a reason to 😂
u just need to start using a game engine or a framework to be a gamedev , its that easy 😁
