Thanks for this! Very informative. I am considering getting a U now, after seeing the great platformers for the system. Donkey Kong Country looks amazing to me.Thanks again!
When I play my Wii U, I use the tablet gamepad's touchscreen and buttons for Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition, and I use the Wii U Pro controller and other wireless controllers for Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.. There some other controllers that you never mentioned in your videos such as the Madcatz Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition Tournament Edition S Fight Stick for the Wii U and the Wii U Controller Pro U for the Wii U.
Btw, that pro commander is GREAT for fps. More sensitivity=quicker movement and aiming= better game play. Don't be turned off from getting one because of this review.
I got an Wii U for Christmas (Mario Maker Bundle). Great system. Went out a got a Pro Controller and I have to say it the most comfortable controller I've ever used. The battery life is outstanding. It does suck that the Gamepad only lasts 2 to 3 hours at best.
Thanks man! I am getting my Wii U this evening, and was wanting to find out which controllers to get. I know I am getting a pro controller with this for sure now, looks great. Then I will invest in two GC controllers as soon as the adapter becomes available for smash:)
justin rivera So the ONE ZL button is a lot to you? That is true but I don't think that is a problem to me, I mean I don't the C-Stick to get in the way of the buttons and it's not like you sometimes miss the C-Stick when attempting to use it, right?
You need motion plus, it should say on the game box. I got mine when I bought my Wii U, but never ever got to play it because I had old Wii controllers.
Does the nyko pro controller have gyro motion in it? I dont like using the joystick to move my camera around when playing PC games with controllers, so I resort to using gyro aim when I want to make quick movements.
thanks! just got a wii u for my kids wanted to see what other controller to get! It helped with my disappointment of not being able to get a second game pad and I didn't have to resort to just the plain wii u controller. lots of info!
Sirengarcia whyvwould you be disappointed that you cant get two gamepads. a gamepad alone is too expensive. pro controller is the best choice for most games
leviathanX thanks for the advice. just having two kids who are always arguing with who gets what can get stressful but I heard the game pro controller is good unfortunately it doesn't work on Mario party
Really depends on the game. If the game takes advantage of the tablet: artillery, maps, interactive screen features etc, then use the pad. If it's a 2D platformer, brawler or fighter then pro controller.
Can the Wii U Pro controller set up your Wii U and the Wii U menu options without a gamepad cuz I ordered a brand new Wii U console from Ebay that comes without a gamepad (Yes, it has the cables) and I wanna know the answer before it arrives?
Honestly man I have no clue. I do know, however, that when I did the initial setup on my Wii U it had some things that you had to select on the gamepad. Im not sure if those show u[ on the tv as well but I hope everything works for you!
I will also note that without the gamepad you cannot navigate the settings menu, so you will not be able to set up wifi connections or manage storage or anything in the settings which is kind of necessary.
My pleasure man and thanks for the sub and like! I put out tons of videos per week so there should be plenty for you to watch! :) Be sure to share some videos with your friends and maybe they will enjoy them too!
I've asked for a Wii U for Christmas and if I get it I'll be getting the Wii U Pro controller for sure. But I have a few questions. 1. Can you charge the controller while playing? 2. Since it's a normal USB charging device, can I use a USB wall charger to charge it since the Wii U has to be ON for it to charge the Pro Controller. *is it safe to charge it this way?* 3. Can it be charged through a computer's USB port? *again.. is it safe to charge it this way*? Thanks.
+Daniel Newville Thank you very much. One more question.. well more of a confirmation. New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, is compatible with the Pro Controller now right? I heard it wasn't before but an update was added to make it compatible. Right?
+Shawn Peterson Yes, you can use the controller while it's charging, Yes you can charge it thru, Wall ports and USB Ports, on a Computer. and its safe to charge it that way.
the wheird thing is, there is a 3d party nunchuck from logic3 I prefer above the regular nunchuck because your thum doesn't slip over the joystick as much as the regular and it has a half ruber handle. teh z and c butons are so made that they feel so good with your fingers and my hands always swet with thge regular nunchuck and not with the nunchuck from Logic3. it's a awesome nunchuck
I am looking to buy the wii gaming system for my 8 year old. Can the older wii long remotes work with the new wii u because he likes the motion sensor when using the remote instead of the big gaming pad. Thanks
WiiU pro Controller is excellent! no complaints so far. Light and comfortable. Battery life is the best any wireless control has had so far. I don't care if the triggers are not optical, they are great. Wii U gamepad is also great, although life battery is the weak point, but in no way the gamepad is heavy or uncomfortable.
The GameCube controller used to be my favourite controller (want to try get the smash version for my WiiU today if I can). However the WiiU main Game Pad is my favourite most comfy controller... used to like the 360 one but Playstation is too small (I know everyone else says the opposite but I have banana clumps for hands). Got to big up the original Wii U one for making something for people like me x'D
This is random, but do amazon gift cards(physical ones) require a snn to be activated, i have one but don't want to use it or do i just scratch the code off and redeem it online?
I completely agree! I think Nintendo should make a Wireless Wii U headset. Sort of like the first Wireless headset Microsoft made for the 360 (Not the crappy Bluetooth one). Thanks for watching and feel free to subscribe for more videos!!
is the gamepad neccesary my friend and i are gonna go halfers on a wii u consle with out controllers and cables and buy the rest seperate i was just wondering if you can use these other controllers instead of the gamepad we planning toonly playstuff like mario maker supermario bros wii u super smash bros and maripo kart
jamiehinzer The gamepad is not required for every game, but there are some games which require it. Another thing to note is that currently you are not able to navigate the settings menue without the gamepad. So, I would not recommend buying a Wii U without a gamepad.
is finding the right controller really something to deal with for the wii u? what would be a good controller for the wii u in general for basic games such as Mario kart smash bros and Mario party exct...
that Nyko controller was a great pro controller for my Wii U but, the rubber started deteriorating... I could have called nyko to see if I got a new nyko product but it was well past its lifespan.
Are there any other Wii u Controller that are official licensed like the PDP Wired Fight Pad? I need a good controller for MK8, price doesnt matter. U Controller Pro (original) vs Wired Fight Pad vs X?
So sorry someone call me an idiot, the wii classic controller is compatible with some Wii U games? Only I've been looking on amazon, and on every faq I have read says the classic controller isn't compatible with any wii u games only the wii? If so is there much point in me buying a pro controller? Also if this is the case, is mario kart 8 compatible with the wii classic? Thanks!
It is compatible, I used to use the wii classic controller and it works great. You can steer with the d-pad or the left analog, which is pretty nice to have the option.
To be fair the gamepad honestly isn't that heavy. I was actually quite surprised when I first got it because it felt a lot lighter than I thought it would be.
salozmen29 Maybe so but I still found it comfortable to use and it didn't 'weigh down' my hands. Also last time I checked it's around 1.08 lbs (491g) not 5.3 lbs.
+Felipe M. Well, the Wii U gamepad IS the main controller of the Wii U after all meaning that it mostly needs to be one of the controllers that you can use. It can be pretty useful for that you can switch weapons on the touchscreen instead of pressing the weapon button until you get the weapon you want to use.
Well, if I ever buy a wii u, I will definitely get the pro controller, main reason why I didn't like the original wii, was because of the wiimote, just doesn't work with most games..
If I send my gamepad to warranty, will I be able to playa smash bros using just the pro controller? Or am I required to have the gamepad on? Please let me know asap
Thats a great question. Since Smash is compatible with tons of controller schemes I do not think you would need to have the gamepad connected. That would be my best guess anyways, thanks for watching!
I have a wii u I checked my wii u compared to my tablet and 3Ds xl and the wii u was bigger than both of them and a wii u is light is just you get tired from holding it
The Nyko controller or whatever looks horrible to use, the a button (main action button) is so far away from the joystick. I grew up on playstation controllers, so it was a little easier for me to get used to the gamepad and pro controller. With the pro controller, xbox controller, and even playstation controller the main action button (a/x) is right next to the joystick (which is one reason I don't think I'll be picking up the steam controller) This isn't including the gamecube controller, but since the c-stick is smaller and easier to grip with your palm while keeping your thumb on the buttons I feel like it still passes the test
so i am planning to get a wii u soon and i want to know just how many controllers do i need ? xD because first i planned on getting about 1 wii u pro controller and 5 wii remote+ so what i want to know is if this is enough ? or is i too much ? xD and also i completely forgot about nunchucks...so what i want to now is, is it necessary to have a nunchuck ? like if i don't have a nunchuck are certain games unplayable ? xD
I would recommend 1 pros(preverablly the afterglow pro controller) 2 wiimotes with one nunchuck and one classic and the game pad. Of course you can change it to any number you want but that's my recommendation.
Thanks for the insight dude, given me some clarity behind what controllers I should use with my Wii U - As I only recently got my hands onto one! BTW - I see that your still an xbox fan by heart... all your games are little stale for Nintendo :P - Each to their own. - Well done :)
I had one of these and it was awesome but the charging port on the controll broke off and fell inthe controller only about a month after I bought it, so I have no way of charging it again
This is *my* opinion, but I think that the Wii U pro controller and classic controller pro placement are better. one have both analogs upwards, the other downwards (As the playstation's controller). I find quite odd the GameCube and Xbox's pad button placement. probably due to my experience with sony's playstation one console,as it was my very first console,so the first pad I had was the dualshock and the one without analogs. Don't get me wrong,I'm not saying that I don't find comfortable the xbox's controller, I have one for the PC, but I prefer the Playstation's and WiiU's one (I have mayflash's adapter for both ps3 and wii u pro controller. - I like those controllers but I dislike their usb's lenght. So i got a wireless adapter without sacrificing bluetooth dongles with needless drivers that did not worked *for me*)
I cant stand the wii u pro controller Idk what changed between the gamepad and the pro but for some reason I struggle to hit the face buttons and it's the only controller Ive ever had this problem with.
I'm pretty sure someone asked you this already (I'm too lazy to read every comment if so, sorry hehe), but how did you customize your gamepad? I really liked it!!
Its actually not customized! Alot of people ask that but it is actually the gamepad from the Windwaker HD Wii U bundle. It comes with a special edition gamepad which you see in the video! Hey man thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you don't want to miss a video! :) It also really helps me out ;)
Yeah but it only has one down side if you use nunchuck, grabbing is so hard with nunchuck you have to use the dpad with is very uncomfortable. Other than that it is very good and that's usually what I play with
Agent Bricks Channel ik this late but I played with the wiimote and the Wii classic controller pro with the gamepad on the charger and the gamepad becomes the map and extra HUD which is pretty cool hope this helps
Thank you for the great advice! We are buying a Wii u and we appreciate your thoughtful comments.
My Wii U pro controller is a glowing one
1:02 that's what she said
Good one XD
Delphineaux Mustardwater good joke mah bruh
Omg i read this comment just as he said it!!!
LMAO!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
I loved the intro :o This video was very informational as I was questioning whether the Nyko controller would be worth it or not. Great video :)
I love the back of the box for smash bros on the Wii u. Like 20 freaking controllers the game is compatible with, crazy!
:) They knew that there are soo many die-hard fans and they wanted to literally tend to everyone in this version of Smash!
ik got it today and i checked just for curiosity :P
I like the pro elite. It is more similar to the NGC controller, which I love the most.
1:00 to 1:07 , that's what she said!
i have literally waited 2 years for someone to make that joke! haha
I commend your waiting.
it never gets old. I didn't catch this one. well done
Everyone has that dirty mind somewhere inside of us...
plz
I got an Wii U for Christmas (Mario Maker Bundle). Great system. Went out a got a Pro Controller and I have to say it the most comfortable controller I've ever used. The battery life is outstanding. It does suck that the Gamepad only lasts 2 to 3 hours at best.
very informative, especially for a new Wii U user! Thanks!
The Fight Pad (that Gamecube-like one that connects to Wiimote) for everything that supports Classic Controller, Gamepad for everything that doesn't.
Thanks man! I am getting my Wii U this evening, and was wanting to find out which controllers to get. I know I am getting a pro controller with this for sure now, looks great. Then I will invest in two GC controllers as soon as the adapter becomes available for smash:)
Hands down people the GameCube controller has been the best controller!
I wont disagree with you that the GC controller is amazing! Please dont forget to subscribe and spread the word! Thanks for watching!
Heck yeah! I have been advertising about the MayFlash GameCube Adapter that adapter is amazing!
Game cube controller is missing a Lot of Buttons. Also the D Pad and C stick are two small
justin rivera So the ONE ZL button is a lot to you? That is true but I don't think that is a problem to me, I mean I don't the C-Stick to get in the way of the buttons and it's not like you sometimes miss the C-Stick when attempting to use it, right?
GameCube is missing Select, LZ, L3 R3 also it has 1 rumble motor instead of 2
THere's also the classic controller for the wii, which I enjoyed best of all back when the wii was the thing.
To play Nintendo land Do you Need the motion plus or you can play with normal wii remotes ?
You need motion plus, it should say on the game box.
I got mine when I bought my Wii U, but never ever got to play it because I had old Wii controllers.
Does the nyko pro controller have gyro motion in it? I dont like using the joystick to move my camera around when playing PC games with controllers, so I resort to using gyro aim when I want to make quick movements.
Can I connect my wii u pro controller with wii u with a usb code when it's battery is low?
thanks! just got a wii u for my kids wanted to see what other controller to get!
My god, do you get brownie points for moving your hands as you talk
Bootskoot589 What? lol
sonicLOPSIDED there were a LOT of hand gestures man.
I express alot with my hands when I talk I guess lol
sonicLOPSIDED apparently, its all good. Tabletop recording persuades most people that way anyways, otherwise its just a table with a thing on it.
Really depends on the game. If the game takes advantage of the tablet: artillery, maps, interactive screen features etc, then use the pad. If it's a 2D platformer, brawler or fighter then pro controller.
All these controllers u mentioned. So many options for new smash bros
I know that in the start up it asks to sync the gamepad, but i dont know if it gives you any other options
I will also note that without the gamepad you cannot navigate the settings menu, so you will not be able to set up wifi connections or manage storage or anything in the settings which is kind of necessary.
***** It was cheaper. I've been planned on getting a gamepad anyway. Just dont have the money for it now.
Question, does the Wii U pro controller work using Wii U games? (as opposed to using the Wii remote and Nunchuck)
Can we play the following zelda games on (pro controller) and/or (remote plus/nunchuk)
1-Twilight princes
2-Wind water
3-Ocarina of time
Thanks.
Thank you so much sonicLOPSIDED This helped me soooo much keep making great videos dude. Btw I subbed and liked. :D
*is it safe to charge it this way?*
3. Can it be charged through a computer's USB port? *again.. is it safe to charge it this way*?
Thanks.
1. Yes
2. Yes, and it is also safe, and it uses a Micro USB to plug into the controller
3. Yes, and it is also safe
+Daniel Newville Thank you very much.
One more question.. well more of a confirmation. New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, is compatible with the Pro Controller now right? I heard it wasn't before but an update was added to make it compatible. Right?
Shawn Peterson no problem
+Shawn Peterson Yes, you can use the controller while it's charging, Yes you can charge it thru, Wall ports and USB Ports, on a Computer. and its safe to charge it that way.
OutOfTurns Thank you. ;)
No classic controller?
The Wii U pro controller lasts for so long it's amazing!, I haven't charged it since Christmas!
jeezum xD
the wheird thing is, there is a 3d party nunchuck from logic3 I prefer above the regular nunchuck because your thum doesn't slip over the joystick as much as the regular and it has a half ruber handle. teh z and c butons are so made that they feel so good with your fingers and my hands always swet with thge regular nunchuck and not with the nunchuck from Logic3. it's a awesome nunchuck
Hee Nederlander hoe gaat het
I need a remote for my wii u that looks like a xbox 360 i also came from a xbox360 to wii u in 2019
Cool
Thanks for the review mr S!
I will gladly buy a pro controller once I get a wii u!
if you had talked about and shown the classic controller pro this video would be perfect
I personally use the Pro Commander paired with the Gamepad when I'm not using the TV.
Can you answer my if game supports Pro Controller, will it support nyco pro commander? And how can I sync Pro Commander with Wii U?
I am looking to buy the wii gaming system for my 8 year old. Can the older wii long remotes work with the new wii u because he likes the motion sensor when using the remote instead of the big gaming pad. Thanks
The older Wii remotes can indeed work for the Wii U. Most games support them!
So is it okay to just buy the old wii instead of the wiiu
Is it possible to use a wii u without the Gamepad at all? Like on first start up do you need it or can you just plug in a regular controller?
+Otimo Regular controller
Most of the fun is on the gamepad though.
TheDualWieldingGamer So if I just get the base console I won't need the gamepad? Because it is like 120$ and the console by itself is like 70$.
Otimo
You wont NEED the gamepad but the ame has LOADS of important exclusives.
also the console comes with the gamepad.
He's lying. To log in to a user you have to use the gamepad, unless the remember this user function is on. And a lot of games use the game pad.
Swordmaster105
I never had to use the ghamepad to use it though...
Can you play the Wii U without the game pad? Can only use the Wii remotes?
Yes You can turn off the Wii U GamePad and use only the pro controller or the Wii Mote and nunchuck
Kaiser Wilhelm II on certain games
WiiU pro Controller is excellent! no complaints so far. Light and comfortable. Battery life is the best any wireless control has had so far. I don't care if the triggers are not optical, they are great. Wii U gamepad is also great, although life battery is the weak point, but in no way the gamepad is heavy or uncomfortable.
That was so helpful, thank you very very much
your hands are massive
senor karma or the controller is small lol
@@gustrrer2409 his hands look big because when the game pad looks smaller lol
The GameCube controller used to be my favourite controller (want to try get the smash version for my WiiU today if I can). However the WiiU main Game Pad is my favourite most comfy controller... used to like the 360 one but Playstation is too small (I know everyone else says the opposite but I have banana clumps for hands). Got to big up the original Wii U one for making something for people like me x'D
This is random, but do amazon gift cards(physical ones) require a snn to be activated, i have one but don't want to use it or do i just scratch the code off and redeem it online?
Pro controller would be the best controller of all time if it had a headphone jack.
I completely agree! I think Nintendo should make a Wireless Wii U headset. Sort of like the first Wireless headset Microsoft made for the 360 (Not the crappy Bluetooth one). Thanks for watching and feel free to subscribe for more videos!!
yes it would if it had the headphone jack vote up
Um, The nyko controller actually looks more like the GameCube controller than the 360 one, if u can see the difference. Just pointing that out!
is the gamepad neccesary my friend and i are gonna go halfers on a wii u consle with out controllers and cables and buy the rest seperate i was just wondering if you can use these other controllers instead of the gamepad we planning toonly playstuff like mario maker supermario bros wii u super smash bros and maripo kart

how about the setup i hear that is a problem that is aproblem without it or has that been patched
is finding the right controller really something to deal with for the wii u? what would be a good controller for the wii u in general for basic games such as Mario kart smash bros and Mario party exct...
If you are playing smash brothers then the gamecube controller is a definite.
I'm pretty sure you need a gamepad+one wiimote for each player for MP10 (not including nunchucks)
that Nyko controller was a great pro controller for my Wii U but, the rubber started deteriorating... I could have called nyko to see if I got a new nyko product but it was well past its lifespan.

Yea the charge on the Pro Controller is insane, I've only had to charge the damn thing like once since i bought it back last year lol.
Joshua W Haha, I have only charged mine 3 times since I got it last March.
I would get Hyrule Warriors. The pro controller is nice but not over Hyrule warriors.
I knew it was gonna be the Pro controller! I KNEW IT!
To be fair the gamepad honestly isn't that heavy. I was actually quite surprised when I first got it because it felt a lot lighter than I thought it would be.
It's 5.3 lbs. That's too heavy for a controller.
salozmen29
Maybe so but I still found it comfortable to use and it didn't 'weigh down' my hands. Also last time I checked it's around 1.08 lbs (491g) not 5.3 lbs.
Where did you get the Zelda controllers?! They look pretty cool and I'm interested in them.
Xanos Kixly They made a Zelda Windwaker HD Wii U Bundle for a while. I know they dont manufacture them anymore though :(
sonicLOPSIDED Well I guess I'll have to just buy them onlone :(
I hope you get one man, its really awesome!
game pad =NINTENDO GAMES
PRO controller= FIGTHING/ FPS
NUN CHUCK = motion control game and Link
+Felipe M.
The gamepad screen isn't mediocre compared to my T.V. screen :(
My T.V. flashes colors n shit.
+Felipe M. "Compared to my T.V. screen"
+Felipe M. Just making it clear for you, that's all.
GameCube Controller = Sm4sh

Ooohhh very inciteful comment!

No sir, it is only compatible with the Wii u.
Ok... Thank you
Well most people have their opinions I love the game pad.
I definitely enjoy the gamepad as well. They built a fantastic tablet controller!
You: *shows Legend of Zelda wiiu controller*

Cool controllers thanks for your video I wan the. Wii u pro controller
I cant stand the wii u pro controller Idk what changed between the gamepad and the pro but for some reason I struggle to hit the face buttons and it's the only controller Ive ever had this problem with.
The wii u pro controller feels so natural to me.
What about Smaysh Brass quatro?
Wii U Pro: Xbox fans (Who may own a Wii U or be new to one)
Wiimote: Prefer to use the same controller as the Wii
Gamepad: Playing in another room
Yoshifan0312RBLX oh shit i didnt realize i was an xbox fan
that controller brand made the gameboy color wormlight
I like classic controller pro for mario kart 8 and the gamepad
I havent tried the CCP with it yet but I did try tilt controls the other day and man is it hard!
:) It also really helps me out ;)
sonicLOPSIDED okay done. and thanks for clarifying my doubt. that explains a lot since i got the 3d world bundle hehe.
When I get my Wii U, i am going to LICK THE GAMEPAD. It has such a sexy look and feel.
+
+Allplussomeminus i used to think that too!
***** what me?!? i dont want to lick my gamepad! thats gay!
+MolecularMoonlight i didnt say anything about having sex with the gamepad...
Thank you for the information.
hey does anyone knows if you can use a regular wii/wiiu remote with out the num chuck for smash bros wiiu as a controll.? and does it work great?
Yes you can and it does work pretty good but I like playing with a joystick but that's me
Yeah but it only has one down side if you use nunchuck, grabbing is so hard with nunchuck you have to use the dpad with is very uncomfortable. Other than that it is very good and that's usually what I play with
Holy 300k
Gamepad: I Don't Agree. The Controller Makes No Sence With Its Controls In Smash 4 And Its Hard To Play
Wii Remote: No Insults Please.
