The WiiU was such an overhated console. I get why people didn't buy it, and I honestly don't blame them. But the charm the WiiU had... it's vast library of games, the honestly pretty cool gamepad integration into games like Nintendo Land, ZombiU and Game and Wario, and the wide array of virtual console games make it such a great console to look back on. Great Video! :)
I love my Wii U until this day.. I hate they shut down MiiVerse, Wii U Video Chat, Messaging, invites, seeing your friends' Mii running across your screen or you would see crowds of Miis that you are not friends with on your screen (Some people chose to have their Mii and Username public so they can enter the Mii palace) The Wii U could have been an amazing system but hard headed leadership and bad marketing killed that console potential.. We had music on the eShop.. The eShop felt alive and made you wanna just search for games.. When you boot up the eShop you get to play a matching game before everything loads.. This console didn't fail Nintendo, Nintendo failed this console..
@@GerardMenvussa the switch just feels so bland. It plays games and that's it. But that's not Nintendos strong suit. If I just wanted to play games, Xbox and Playstation do that better. I come to a Nintendo console for their unique magic.
@@kenrickkahn whenever the people at pretendo arent eating gamepads, their working on pretendo which brings back miiverse and wii u chat and the online functionality that will be lost once nintendo shuts down online. its not perfect, it’s not even finished but go take a look at it!
Your story of how the Wii U was your first personal console lines up exactly with my experience. I used that thing every moment I could. Even used it to watch UA-cam since I didn't have a phone at the time lol. The Gamecube/Wii was my first step, but the Wii U was when I truly became a fan. Good times 😌
The Wii U was the first console I ever received as Christmas gift in 2014 since the Wii was only a console my parents bought to play Wii Fit, Wii Sports etc
The Wii U, in my opinion, is the best Nintendo console. The personality, the nostalgia value, everything is just so perfect. It hurts to see this console age so badly. You have my respect. Edit: My goodness. This comment got more likes than I expected and even the content creator liked. Yes, I did say that the console aged badly, but I do think that as time goes on, the value gets more realization. Thank you, guys.
I think I get what you mean, but I reckon it’s ageing like wine! As time goes on, I think people are only going to see the value that this console had/has, and it’s gimmick (the gamepad alongside the wiimote pointer controls) can’t really be replicated natively on any other console, unless future consoles have similar control schemes. Only time will tell I guess.
Yeah once modded it’s like does everything Nintendo prior to it. Plus the smash bros adapter opens up a lot of controller options with Nintendont (like the bongos).
This Wii U will always have a special place in my heart. I remember me and my 3 brothers all spending our money on Christmas to get it when it came out. We played it everyday for years. Even 10 years later, when we are all back from college or together for the holidays, at some point we pick it back up.
@@dardalion3199 growing up it mostly smash 4 and some super Mario bros U. Lego games of course. Now when we play we either pop in a wii game like wii sports resort and old Lego game and for Wii U our top picks are usually Nintendo land and wii party.
It’s really refreshing to hear so much positivity about the Wii U! I will die on the hill that this console is delightful. I loved it back in 2012, I loved it at its lowest point in 2016, and I still love it now. I cannot believe the amount of crap I have gotten over the years when expressing how much I adore the Wii U. I don’t understand how low sales and most of the games getting ported = bad console (individuals saying this probably never even had one). It bothers me how people seem to take any opportunity to dunk on it for no reason. This was especially prevalent during the early days of the Switch, everyone was acting like nobody ever liked it, meanwhile I was having a blast with Breath of the Wild on my Wii U. I’m glad to see more positive discussion around the console, it really deserves it. I hope those who didn’t like it can look back in retrospect and recognize the charms and awesome features of the Wii U!
I just love the imbeciles saying the Wii U had no good game while half of their Switch games are ports from that console and the best selling game is just a port too.
@@wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 Yep people can't seem to understand that the switch was sucessful because of the wii u. especially since hald of the library at launch were wii-u ports.
As a proud owner of a WiiU, I am glad to see someone finally stand up for this amazing console, and as I watch this video, I learn more about the WiiU. I always wondered what had happened to the main menu, with the change from all of the games you have to the setting. Now I know it was from the shutting down of Miiverse and all of the other online aspects.
I love the Wii U and wish it got more recognition. I definitely don't love it as much as the Wii (thanks to nostalgia), but it had a unique controller, beautiful graphics and a great library. I had badly wanted it for a long time before getting one for Christmas 2014, where it stayed for a particularly important era of my life. I only wish it lasted longer.
Even though a lot of Wii U games have been ported to the Switch, I'd argue that many are still best experienced on the original system. Treasure Tracker and the first Mario Maker are way better when playing on the TV because of the gamepad. I miss being able to manage my inventory in Zelda games with the gamepad, too. There's so much to love about this system. Like you, I always have my Wii U hooked up (even if I don't always use it lol). It truly is the ultimate Nintendo console with its vast game selection and charm.
The eShop for me is the main thing I always point out to people. It's something that I actually couldn't believe when I first saw it, but the fact that they actually put DS games on the Wii U eShop and took advantage of the 2 screens is just so cool to me. I really hope I can get my hands on a Wii U to experience DS games on a big TV screen.
Just so you know, ds games really don't look good on the tv. It really shows that they were made for a small ds screen. They're very low resolution and basically a pixelated mess on tv.
I quite literally have never found a video I've agreed with more than this one. The Wii U's failure is an injustice in the gaming industry and I'm overjoyed to know that I'm not the only one with fond memories of it's games, and incredibly charming personality. Awesome video.
Ugh, it really feels like all Nintendo's personality left with Iwata and Reggie. The Wii U was packed full of it, but then didn't sell well and now the Switch is too basic. It's like being yourself at school, getting made fun of so then you just act super reserved. I've been told the music stuff was removed to help with loading times and performance since that was a pretty common critique of the Wii U, but even the Directs back then had so much goofiness and memeable moments. Miss those days.
I absolutely loved playing the Wii U. Great library of games and the gamepad made for some incredibly immersive gaming experiences. Thank you for giving this overhated console some love.
Very cool video. The Wii U is one of my favorite consoles. If you’re interested at all, there’s a homebrew project for the Wii U called “Juxt”, by a group called Pretendo which brings back miiverse. It’s worth looking into. I believe the Wii U has gained a lot of value by being a very powerful homebrew console.
Im getting a modded console, and im getting a seperate NNID from my 3ds (because the username is cringe) and getting pretendo and getting a old save file of youtube for it to work again (because its shut down but i want to watch yt on the big screen)
I didn’t get a WiiU until the start of the Pandemic. I fell in love with this console! It scratched my nostalgia itch for the original Wii while introducing me to a whole new range of games I had never played before. I wish I had it in its prime.
@@dardalion3199 where to begin, really? A bunch of games from this system you can already play on Switch, like Mario Kart 8. But there are so many great exclusives too that are great. Zelda Windwaker HD and Twilight Princess HD are two great examples. The original Splatoon game is on the Wii U.
Had a great library and was definitely worth the purchase. Just because it didn’t sell well doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. I still remember playing it for the first time on launch.
The Wii U was my first ever console. Ive had so much fun with it, if it was by myself, with family or with friends. A few years ago I did switch to PlayStation and never really bought a different Nintendo Console. Mostly because non of my friends play on the Switch. But alot of times when family is around we still hop on to the Wii U to play Wii Sports Resort...
Damn I feel old now. As a kid I played on the Wii all the time, I made up stories based on my Miis and everything. I remember first seeing ads for the Wii U and it immediately skyrocketed to the top of every birthday and Christmas list for years. I didn't end up getting one until after the Switch released, but my years of Wii U love were a big part of my childhood. 10 years ago... can't believe the time goes like that.
Thank you... thank you for helping people see the Wii U for what it was, not the sales numbers it produced. I missed out on the Wii U era and would still like to buy one. I watched ZackScottGames play a lot of Wii U games, and it opened a whole new world for me... it's why I bought a Switch. I wish more people would give it a chance. I hope Nintendo goes back to the Wii U style of software and maybe even hardware. thanks for letting me rant a little. 😅
I really do miss this era of Nintendo. I think the idea behind the Wii U was so great. And had so much potential! Just sucked the marketing wasn't great. I miss the time of Iwata speaking *Directly* to us and telling us that the Wii U was made to get people together as he believed even at that time, that livingrooms had become alone together. (Basically what we do now all the time where we just sit on our phones without interaction) This man's goals were so great. Shame it never came to be! I still love the Wii U and play a lot. And even tho we miss this era we can also appreciate that he brought the idea of the Wii to this world in the first place. Great video! Ur already way too underrated!
The Wii U is the first console I got brand new. It was Christmas 2012, I was 5 years old and my dad comes down with a Wii U. That will be fully engraved into my mind! I am now 16 years old and this console is my all time favourite!
You said it. People don't know what they missed. Had some friends over a few weeks back and they thought we were gonna play Switch, but I switched it up and fired up the Wii U. We had a blast. Wii U was a ground breaking system, making developers have to think outside the box. Such a shame it didn't get the love it deserved. That's why I'll always keep mine. Truly, a hidden gem.
about the whole "system personality" thing, i'm pretty sure the reason the Switch has so little of that is because Nintendo probably wanted the menus to run as smoothly as possible. i booted up my Wii U back in february and it was way slower than i remember it being. they could've at least added music though, that wouldn't slow the Switch menus down too much would it? personally i prefer the 3DS over the Wii U when it comes to that generation of Nintendo, but i still had a lot of fun with the Wii U.
I had a similar experience with the Wii U to what you’ve described in this video. I remember I had a Wii but all I really played was Wii sports and Lego Star Wars, and when I saw a Disney infinity demo running on Wii U I begged my parents to get me the system. It came bundled with nintendoland and Mario 3D world, which was my introduction to the Mario series. I’ve been a huge Nintendo fan ever since and I will always believe the Wii U to be one of the greatest consoles Nintendo has created, even with its flaws.
My first console was the NES for Christmas in ‘93. I completely skipped over the Wii u and sort of knew it existed. I was busy having kids and working many jobs throughout the Wii u life. Now that my boys are a little older, I’m surprising them this Christmas with a Wii U and tons of physical and virtual games. I’ve had to hide it all year and play it in secret..... it’s become my favourite Nintendo system. I want this to be like ‘93 was for me. I’m excited. Thanks for the video!
I got the Wii U a bit late in 2016 but overall I love the console the UI was friendly and cozy,The Library was good like Nintendo Land,Splatoon,Super Smash Bros Wii U,Mario Maker,Yoshis Wooly World, and Super Mario 3D World those were my favorites on the system. Not to mention it was backwards compatible with Wii games and I loved playing the old Wii games on the Wii U. Miiverse was also my first time interaction with other Nintendo Fans my favorite community was The New Super Luigi Community we were always off topic and I will always remember those interactions. And yes as I said I got it late I will always remember how much fun I had with the system and I'll end up buying one again since I regret trading mine in for the Switch on launch!
It is crazy to thing that this console is already this old, I love it so much. I was similar to you in that I got it for christmas with no knowledge of how hated it was until more recently. This was my intro into many gaming series I'm obsessed with now. I wouldn't trade my experience with it for anything. I have so so so many good memories with it. I have so much love for it, so It's so so nice to see that other people love it as much as I do :-]
I never had a Wii U as a kid (because I was dumb kid with dumb kid brain who thought it was just a Wii add-on) but my goodness looking at the games the collector in me wants to get the Wii U pretty bad. It has such a unique look and amazing games, great vid as always bro
Absolute W video. I got my Wii U for Christmas 2013 when I was 6 and enjoyed every single game I played (Except Star Fox Zero even though I know people like it). I strongly agree with everything you said in this video, it is one of the best consoles ever in my opinion and it is insane that is now a decade old today! The Switch is still a good console and a great concept with great games but it feels like a lot less original games that are as great as the Wii U as a lot of Switch games are Wii U ports with little new features, and plus almost every great Switch game came out in 2017 with very little games afterwards. Don't get me wrong, Switch is still a fabulous console but I still think it's no where near as great as the Wii U or even the 3DS. Overall I'd say the Wii U is definitely the best Nintendo console and possibly the greatest console of all time.
Great video as always! One of my biggest gaming regrets is trading my WiiU for a Switch (was trying to save money at the time) and I'd love to get my hands on one again. It was such a unique and fun console and spawned my favourite Lego game, Lego City Undercover. Can't wait to see the rest of your videos this month!
I got a 2DS when I had just turned 10 back in 2015, then a Wii U on Xmas of the same year. It was a console that I thought was difficult to get back then. But those consoles actually helped me access social media for the very first time in my life with Miiverse. I was truly pleased to finally see what interacting with people around the world and playing in online multiplayer was like. I also received Mario Maker and some amiibos along with my Wii U, then shortly when the new year passed, I had been able to publish stages online. It eventually became something I always did daily for a long time, until I joined UA-cam in the end of 2016. And here we are in 2022. I am now 17, living happily with my artistic skills and a powerful PC. My Wii U and 2DS are also both still working, although I gave my 2DS to my little cousin after I upgraded to a New 3DS. During the time I had a Wii U for a few years, I didn't know about its flaws and that only a few people also owned one. Regardless, I still managed to reach out to a plenty of people on Miiverse, mainly because it was then ported to the 3DS and it was full of Nintendo enthusiasts like me. It hurts for me that it had to fade away and I wish I could actually be able to look back at everything I shared there. That console deserved better. It was a big improvement to the Wii when it came to accessing internet services, like the 3DS to the DS, but it unfortunately had a bad start with a messy presentation, poor marketing and games that turned out to be uninteresting to many. I think that if those sole problems were resolved in the first place, it would become a colossal success and everyone would understand all of its potentials.
This video took the words right out of my mouth, regarding this console. Out of all the 8th Gen systems including the Switch, the Wii U was the main one that I had the most fun with and years later, nothing has changed.
I bought a WiiU just yesterday and I’m having so much fun with it already. My main reason for getting it was to play Windwaker HD. I didn’t even know about the eShop and how it provided some of the older DS games, like animal crossing. It’s also backwards compatible? That’s friggin’ cool. I don’t understand how it got so much hate but I’m glad it’s gaining popularity again.
Thank you so much for making this video. I was a day-one, pre-ordered Wii U guy. I loved it so much and I still use it today. Best Nintendo console ever imo, and I have 3 Switches.
I agree so much about the personality, video games and consoles nowadays feel so corporate, the WII U was the antithesis of this. Will always love the WII U, nostalgia bias or not.
Thank you for video. I'm new to the channel. I was late to getting a Wii U. I got one 2 years ago, and just feel in love with the system. Even with all the negatives you can find with it, you can't overlook all the positives.
The Wii U was also the first home console I could call my own and I had so much fun with it and so many memories were made on it, heck I still use it and play it to this day! I'll never forget that console
I love this video dude! It's great to finally see another person defending the wii U. It's one of my favorite consoles and doesn't deserve the hate it gets i hope this video motivated people to buy it and experience the great games.
Great video, I love what the Wii U attempted to do, it is or was an important "mistake" for Nintendo to make. Without the lessons learned from the Wii U we may not have the Switch. Unfortunatley the Switch feels like it is missing some of the Nintendo magic, the games are still great and make you feel that magic but what the Wii and Wii U did was bring it all together with the consoles music which set the tone and the games as well. The Wii U made you feel apart of large community, I really miss interacting on Miiverse, or just seeing the Miiverse comments on the home screen, I also miss the Weather Channel and News Channels from the Wii, it made the console feel like more that just a console without losing its character, something both consoles did very well. Anyone that has a 3DS/2DS or Wii U should be paying attention to rverse and Pretendo, these groups are attempting to revive the social aspects of these consoles and have me excited for the future of the WII U and 3DS/2DS. Very similar to what the Riiconnect 24 team did for the Wii.
Hi there. Apple TV’s UA-cam app recommended this video and bravo!! I’m a massive Wii U fan. I bought mine the week it was released and this and the 3ds are my top two favourite gaming consoles EVER!! Very excited to see the rest of your wii U videos for this month! And I for one always have and always will defend the wii u! Such a underrated console!! My wii U and 3ds are both more fun than my than my switch and it is because it’s quirky charm with the Mii’s and things like Streetpass! I MISS Streetpass!
I remember getting my Wii U on Christmas 2012 and it really feels like a nostalgic console. The day I got it, I remember hooking it up, making Mii’s, and then grabbing an extra copy of Wii sports resort that my grandma had at her house on her Wii and then played it for like 8 hours. The next day I spent money on the E shop channel and bought Mario 64, Mario bros 1 and The Lost Levels, Yoshi’s Wooly World, and Wii Sports Club. Me and my brother played it so much together that it’s really nostalgic and fun to play together. It’s one of my most nostalgic console, but I also had a regular Wii where my grandma’s house was so we can play the Wii games at our house or our grandmas house.
This video made me remind of how I still miss the Wii/Wii U/3DS home menu and it's customization and I really hope nintendo can add some of these games/configs to the switch :')
I grew up with the Wii, but just like you, the Wii U was my first personal console. I loved that thing, everything about it. I really do miss all the charm that the Wii U had... Great memories!
amazing video, the wii u will always hold a special place in my heart. it's UI design was top tier, so clean and innovative, the friends list was intuitive with the unique NNID's. I have around 900 hours of Minecraft: Wii U edition on there, meeting random people and hanging out. It just isnt the same on Nintendo Switch. I am really sad that this console's services are dying/have been killed. Who knows when Nintendo Network ID's get shut down.
I loved the Wii U and was very surprised with how poorly it did. Even now, it still has a lot going on with it like Virtual Consoles, Nintendo Land, the two Zelda Ports and many other games that utilizes the console's unique features.
I spent 900€ on my Wii U this year to get everything I was interested in before the eshop closes. So many months of games ahead of me! And you have no idea how fantastic Game & Wario's artwork game is when guests visit. They all loved it. So much fun.
Yay, finally some WiiU appreciation!!! I really like your video and I relived my nostalgia when I was an young adolescent through my viewing. Another thing I would like to mention that you didn’t talk in your video was the birth of the Nindies. Maybe this wasn’t part of your memories (which is ok, each their own experiences) but I think the WiiU had a crucial part of Nintendo trust on indie game developers to bring new experiences on their consoles. Cadence of Hyrule would have never came out if the Nindies weren’t created. Thanks for the video and the memories!
I totally agree with you. Wii U had so much love in it that most people took it for granted. They never gave much credit for how much fun was to just play games on the Wii U with the Miiverse, songs, animations etc. And you didn't even talked about how better Wii U was with storage being able to use an external HD. Wii U just needed a better maketing strategy.
I got my Wii U used as a gift to myself. I went out and bought Mario Kart 8 the same day. Fired it up at my friend's place and we spent so long playing Nintendoland and Mario Kart. A lotta good memories with that one.
On September 13, 2012, Nintendo announced that the Wii U would launch in Japan on December 8, 2012. Later that day, Nintendo announced that the North American launch date would be November 18, 2012.
One of the less known titles that launched with the Wii U was Zombi U, which I think is one of the best and most immersive zombie survival games I've ever played.
The Wii U was designed for asymmetric multiplayer. It’s unfortunate that third party developers didn’t realized that in time. Nintendoland is a perfect sample sized demonstration of what the Wii U could have been capable of.
The WiiU was my first modern console when I got it in 2015. I played the hell out of Mario Maker for a few years, and it's honestly still my favorite home console. And you can tell that this Era of Nintendo has the most charm because they literally dedicated a whole year to Luigi with multiple Luigi game releases and IRL events.
My most memorable gaming experiences in late elementary school to late middle school were on the Wii-U at home and with friends at sleepovers. Pure nostalgia for me.
I love my Wii U, I got mine right around the Year of Luigi, and it was cool to see a very active online community within the Miiverse. I love my Switch, but the Wii U just had some much charm to it., I hope Nintendo bring that back
so many hours went into mario kart 8, breath of the wild, super mario 64, the ds remake, and so many more. the wii u is one of my favorite consoles, I got one a long time ago when my mom went to go get a replacement for our broken copy of new super mario bros wii, I grew up with that game, so when it was broken, I needed to get a new one. while my mom was at the store, she also bought a wii u with it. gotta say, the wii u is still being used to this day.
I actually really like the Wii U a lot, it was one of my early Nintendo consoles I’ve owned, I got it because my original Wii stopped reading discs. So I got a Wii U roughly around 2015-2016 and it came with Mario Maker 1, Splatoon 1 and Mario Kart 8! I did get a lot more other Wii U games later on like New Super Mario Bros U, Wind Waker HD and Nintendo Land. I’m glad that you’ve mentioned that it has all 3 Disney Infinity games as those were some of my first ever childhood games. It is a shame that the Wii U failed, but I still use my Wii U even today. I like that the Wii U supports HDMI as the original Wii did not. The compatibility with USB storage devices was so cool. It is good that Nintendo ported many Wii U games to Switch already. Looks like it’s completely the end of the Wii U and 3DS era after March 31st 2023. But that still won’t stop me from using my Wii U!
Giving praise to a very well done video. I still wouldn't have bought one even hearing your points. One thing for me was for the time frame it came out, it was not worth $300 so I waited for it to come down for a holiday sale like past Nintendo consoles. For reference, I grew up playing with NES, and SNES first originally launched as a kid.
the wii u was one of my favorite consoles growing up. for a while we had the wii, then my aunt moved out and took it with her. then we moved to a new house and one christmas we got one, and then goddamn i was addicted to that thing. when i got splatoon id play for hours on end. a couple months ago i ended up plugging it back in and had a genuinely great time playing games i hadnt touched in years.
The Wii U is the reason why I'm a Nintendo fan today. It's because I got it in the christmas of 2015 together with Super Mario Maker that I saw what the Nintendo charm was really capable of, and I instantly fell in love with it. I still remember taking the conscious decision of never leaving Nintendo, and that's when I became a fan, a cold december morning of 2015 playing Super Mario Maker and just thinking "I don't want this magic and charm to end". And I must say, I don't regret this decision one bit
I'm so glad that the general opinion of this console is shifting to the positive side of things. The Wii U is a fantastic system that really shines through it's extensive library and backwards compatible games. Splatoon 1 is STILL my favorite Splatoon game (3 is still fun tho) and I love jumping back into the HD remakes of WW and TP. The Wii U got way to much hate back in the day, and as a game collector I'm really glad that people are beginning to appreciate it as it is and what it did for the gaming industry. Happy 10th to the Wii U!!
Thanks for your amazing video! I always loved the wii u and as I kid I would go over to my friends’ house and play games like Nintendoland, and it was always a blast. I was thinking about getting one now that I’m older, and your video convinced me to get one! Thank you and I’m so excited to start playing this amazing console once again!
The Wii U has my favorite game of all time, Wind waker Hd. I got the deluxe bundle with Nintendo land and 3d world, which were both games me, my sister and my dad played together, along with Mario kart 8. I played splatoon and smash bros with my dad, no worries about the sales and the critical reception, just plain and pure fun. It’s still plugged into my tv today and I sometimes pick it up sometimes and play wind waker sometimes, it was such a huge part of my childhood and the reason I got into video games.
Wii U was the last to have "put disc in and play", it's basically GameCube in 2010s, it's so creative and fun to be a kid at that time, Wii U will be much loved in 2030s
the wii u was my entire childhood and i didn't even know it was hated until recently, and it definitely got way too much of it. really wish it was appreciated more for basically raising a lot of people born in the mid-late 2000's
I think that in 5 and 10 years, people who were born in the late 2000s will become adults and start to appreciate Wii U even more, because the nostalgia of the moment will be the 2010s, and I think that's already deserved for Wii u just like with GameCube
I LOOOVE my WiiU and it’s been connected since day one. Excellent video as always. I’ve been buying here and there some of my last games from the eShop before it’s closure😢. I 100% preferred the gamepad over the switch in termos of buttons locations and is just perfect fitting in my hands. And the menu music is just amazing, like you I could talk for ever about the Wii U.
You are absolutely 100% right! I have always loved my wiiU, and always will. People who understand what the wiiU has done for us know how great the system is. Nintendo hero, you are a legend, and the wiiU is too!
MAN!!! This is an amazing video. I really feel the same way about many of the things you mentioned. I mostly grew up with the Gamecube/Wii, but I was still relatively young when the Wii U came out, and I played it like EVERY day. I am very nostalgic for it at this point, and I genuinely think there are so many great features, especially with the great shop and killer virtual console. I also started my game development career on Wii U. I was really young, and I actually released one of the most HATED games on Wii U ever, "The Letter", but the system helped me get started in indie game development and I learned a TON over the years. I would not be where I am today without the Wii U. This is the first I have seen of your channel, but great stuff. I am going to have to check out more of your videos. Really like your attitude. Have a good one man. -Eli
I love this console so much I have two of them. Every year on my birthday, I make it a priority to get on my Wii U, 3DS, and Pokémon games, just to experience that warm welcome. In fact, one year, my family forgot my birthday, but Nintendo didn’t. It was a solace. It has a complicated past but that console means a lot to me and I have made many memories with friends and family because of it.
I should have known that this console was going to have a troubled run as soon as I preordered it and got a call to come pick it up only a few days after release. I actually had to check my bank account balance to make sure I could afford it since I assumed that it would be awhile before mine came in based on how hard it was to get a Wii at launch. It is a shame that more people didn't give it a chance.

Exactly. U & Wii should just ignore all the haters who never even played it.
Same but in place of gamecube it’s 3ds
Same for me, word for word
Same
The Wii U was the first console I ever received as Christmas gift in 2014 since the Wii was only a console my parents bought to play Wii Fit, Wii Sports etc
Agreed.

@@Kuuk99 yeah that too hahaha
Yeah once modded it’s like does everything Nintendo prior to it. Plus the smash bros adapter opens up a lot of controller options with Nintendont (like the bongos).
This Wii U will always have a special place in my heart. I remember me and my 3 brothers all spending our money on Christmas to get it when it came out. We played it everyday for years. Even 10 years later, when we are all back from college or together for the holidays, at some point we pick it back up.
What games did you guys play the most?
I'm still missing my Wii. It had support for both Wii and GameCube. RIP refurbished Wii

Same here. Its a great device. I doubt I will ever get rid of it.

I only wish it lasted longer.
i feel near enough exactly like you there, love the wii u to bits
I'll never forget a good portion of 2016 while everyone in my college was on PS4 and Xbox I was the few that happily enjoyed my Wii U
+1 about the graphics, for such a hardware limited console so many games on it look absolutely incredible
It sm the switch lacked
I've been playing Mario kart 8 on the Wii u ever since I accidentally drilled a hole in my switch battery, online works great especially at night.
Ye
I thought they shut that shop down.
Just looked it up, you got until March 2023.
Just so you know, ds games really don't look good on the tv. It really shows that they were made for a small ds screen. They're very low resolution and basically a pixelated mess on tv.
@@Jetanium nAhhhhh homie you can mod it I think

The game pad as a controller was pretty nice I enjoyed it a ton

I love the Wii U as well! It feels really great to see this system given some defense and appreciation in the leadup to its 10th anniversary. :)
I hope it doesn't get shutdown by Nintendo like they did that project for smash bros brawl

I didn’t get a WiiU until the start of the Pandemic. I fell in love with this console! It scratched my nostalgia itch for the original Wii while introducing me to a whole new range of games I had never played before. I wish I had it in its prime.
It is in it's prime now with modding
What games were on the wiiU? The switch was my first nintendo system so I dont know what came before really

Same day I got mines
I still love map and inventory management on the Wii U. It was so convenient.
i love your videos, they’re so perfect after a long day at work. i appreciate your content a lot :)
The Wii U is the first console I got brand new. It was Christmas 2012, I was 5 years old and my dad comes down with a Wii U. That will be fully engraved into my mind! I am now 16 years old and this console is my all time favourite!
Man I absolute love the wiiu since I received it on Christmas of 2012 and I was still a little child, thank you for giving credit to the wiiu
9:43 But that’s only for Wii System Transfer. The Wii U itself has its own system transfer animation with little robot dudes.
You’re not alone in defending the Wii U. Thank you for representing.
Thank you so much. Ive always loved the wiiu, and all its original music and creativity. this was nice to hear after barley any love to this console.
I got the Wii U in 2014 and never saw that people hated it, I grew up with the Wii when I was little and loved using my Wii U.
Yup, the Wii U had that Nintendo magic that came from Iwata. The next system I fear will be even more bland and basic.
I distinctly remember secretly staying up late at night when I was younger to play games like Nintendo Land on the gamepad.
I miss my Wii U so much.
I have so much love for it, so It's so so nice to see that other people love it as much as I do :-]
So many features from the Wii U I missed when I upgraded to the switch. great video, I needed this!
While some Wii U games aren’t worth buying anymore, it still has other cool games like Wii
Fit U and Mario Party 10.
Can't wait to see the rest of your videos this month!
dang bro. i luckly still have my wii u and i loved it and still use it a lot. and my swtich..... its just laying there
I got a 2DS when I had just turned 10 back in 2015, then a Wii U on Xmas of the same year.
Out of all the 8th Gen systems including the Switch, the Wii U was the main one that I had the most fun with and years later, nothing has changed.
wiiU is one of the most underrated consoles of all time. It just had SO much of that Nintendo charm that Nintendo doesn't do anymore.
The Wii U was a big part of my childhood, It was the first videogame console I bought. Thanks for making an awesome video
I love it, the controller experience was immersive in resident evil and zelda, had a great time with it, success in my book
From the day I got a wii u about 2 years after it came out I always did and will continue to say it’s one of the best consoles ever
Awesome video mate. Still cannot believe it is almost 10 years old… still enjoy it as if I just bought it.
I spent 900€ on my Wii U this year to get everything I was interested in before the eshop closes. So many months of games ahead of me! And you have no idea how fantastic Game & Wario's artwork game is when guests visit. They all loved it. So much fun.

Well, damn. This video actually made me want to get a Wii U someday... didn't expect that. Thanks!
Thank you for giving the WiiU some much deserved love!
On September 13, 2012, Nintendo announced that the Wii U would launch in Japan on December 8, 2012. Later that day, Nintendo announced that the North American launch date would be November 18, 2012.
Honestly thanks for using wii u music in the background its very nostalgic to me since i was a kid playing it and it brings me back to happier times
I've been waiting for this for a long while and I'm glad it's finally here.
GREAT VIDEO! WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE MY LOVE FOR THE WII U. IT WAS A BIG PART OF MY LIFE AND IT DESERVES MORE PRAISE
The Nintendo Wii U may had a rough start at E3, it's video games were amazing! The Wii U Hub songs are magical!!!!!!!
Awesome video! Great editing! We played the Wii U like crazy and it’s our most nostalgic console! Very underrated console! 😃😃😃😃
You have no idea how relieved i am to see another person who actually enjoys the wii u
Great video. Thank you for it. And I love the Wii U. Such an amazing system.
The Wii U had a ton of personality

I don't care what anyone says, the Wii-U may be dead, but it's still alive in our hearts.
