- Refurbishing An Old Mamod Steam Wagon - Part #1. I've owned this old Mamod Steam Wagon for a few Years. I bought it from a good friend of mine who has since died. The time has come to make it work again.

Had that exact model when i was young. I think it was late 70's early 80's
Thanks for the video I collect mamod and Wilsco model engines Some are new and some are l think 1960s which need restoration. Yery useful information thank you!!😎🚂🚂🚂🚂🇬🇧
I love my Mamods. Didn't have one as a boy, but about 10 years ago I bought a box at an antiques fair, full of Mamod parts, cos £20. I managed to assemble 6 complete engines. I did have to buy a few small parts like 1 piston/cylinder assembly, a couple of safety valves and some copper tubing. They all now run!
when I was at a steam rally this Year, I saw someone selling an Mamod stationary engine which didn't have a whistle or safety valve or Funnel.
I believe he wanted 75 pounds for it. didn't buy it in the end
Lovely model, I have a static Mamod engine coupled to some meccano that drives a Funicular Railway. Great fun to play with now and again.
Good luck from Spain!!
What a lovely piece! I can't wait to see what you do with it.
i always wanted one of those, but only high end toy stores carried then
Me too, but I finally got one in the end }:-)))
i know that take-it-apart ssee-how-it-works very well . . . my mother cleverly brought home junk clocks and things she rag-picked . . . she couldn't help being a committed recycler having lived through the Great Depression . . . and a lot of that rubbed off on me.

wear it out
make it do

Well I hope you never dismantled one of your girlfriends. Other than that,I agree with the idea of finding out how things work. Any man who says he understands women...........
I have a Mamod Se2a. I bought it second hand to restore. It needed a new cylinder so I bought one but now the engine doesn’t move at all. Do you have any suggestions about why this is and what I could do to get it fixed?
Sorry I don't do much with small steam toys.
A nice back to basic topic here. Mamod have always made nice looking cars, lorries and trains. But personally I can’t understand why they keep on using the (stupid) oscillating cylinders. In my world a real steam engine is a double acting one with slide or piston valves. Wilesco of Germany has a much better engine ( except for the tiniest ones), but Mamod has a better selection of vehicles. Wilesco has fewer vehicles (the ones they have are nicely made), but much nicer steam engines to use. I believe I have only seen one real steam engine from Mamod. A thing that is unfortunately not so nice is the prices for those, so called children toys, are so high that they can buy a simple laptop instead.
Mamod now make some engines with slide valves inc a showmans model
