    NOW AVAILABLE IN ALL 12 KEYS! The response to the Lucky 13 has been so positive that I decided to order every key straight away :-) G remains the lowest key, with the range going all the way to up to F#. But of course the F# and other high keys (F, E, Eb, D, Db) all have an extra bottom octave tagged on, giving them the speed and cut of the high harp keys PLUS that extra low-end warmth.

    Brendan, I love seeing all the brilliant ideas you come up with. Most of them however do not apply to me as I am a hard core 10 hole diatonic player. These Lucky 13s however, really have me excited. These are so perfect for me. I love the low tunings but miss the high holes. I will be buying a full set of these as soon as I am able. Being disabled, I depend on my harps to keep me fulfilled when my body is rebelling against me! I can hardly wait to fill another row in my gig case with a set of these along with my Special 20's and Lee Oscars and Suzuki Manji M-20s. Love your videos! You keep making them and I'll keep watching them! All my best to you!

    Brendan, I have been playing harmonica (and guitar and bass) for over 40 years, years ago I started using two harmonicas when playing Great American Songbook songs;; if doing a song in the key of E, I would, of course, use an 'E' harmonica, and below it in the sling an 'A' harmonica -- this gives me a full range of all the notes I need. I lost the specially adopted sling I had made for accommodating the two harmonicas, but I will make a new one. You make some amazing harmonicas, best of luck in all you do.

    I have 2 of these, A & G. The bass holes are no gimmick, they allow me to do much more than I can with my other harps, they are surprisingly responsive and have a really badass tone, not like the honk of my Rocket low C. The low notes on my G make my eyeballs vibrate. This is a wonderful thing.

    Awesome harps as usual. All of your stuff is top notch. I'm hoping you offer these in PowerBender tuning in the near future!

    One more question, please, Brendan. Are the Lucky 13 harmonicas that you are selling now in the standard Richer Tuning? And is the additional low octave note layout the same as in the low octave of a standard 10-hole diatonic? It is not quite clear from the website and it the video you are using different tunings including the Powerbender.

    My ideal design for a harp would be this same idea but with the top 3 or 4 holes chopped off, I never play up there anyway... More like a seydel big 6 but with this lower octave stuck on underneath... Right, I'm gonna chop some reedplates up and make one, just for the hell of it...

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  8 років тому

      You should try PowerDraw, then you'd love the top end :-)

      I have one of your powerbenders... It's cool, but at the moment it's been hijacked by my 5 year old daughter, because it has an orange comb and is apparently prettier than the rest of my harps, Lol... She has covered it in hello kitty stickers... Not to worry, I'll steal it back off her when she gets bored of it... Still don't like the top end though, I just prefer the lower tuned harps, Low C to high C would do me for a collection... I will try one of these lucky 13 at some point...

    This is a question important to me, as I carry my harps around with me constantly. Is there a case that comes with them now, or would I still need to make my own right now?

      BrendanPowerMusic Thanks, man. I may be a jobless teen, but I have a birthday coming up. Just one other question: do they all come in the same tuning, which in this video you mention is your Powerbend?

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  7 років тому +1

      So far just in normal Richter tuning with extra low octave. PowerBender, PowerDraw and Paddy Richter coming.

      At this stage spare reed supply is not envisaged. Replacement reedplates are possible, however.

      @RAkers-tu1ey 8 років тому +1

      Well... I have made reeds before, but if there are to be power bender reed plates? My time is valuable too. I have become rather addicted to the PB tuning. My blow bends and overblows - well, they blow.

  • @HarmoActive

    Brendan, amazing work! I have a question about the retuning you did in the lower octave:
    Did I understand you correctly? You turned:
    B down to A (3 draw whole step down)
    G down to F# (2 draw half step down),
    and
    C down to B on hole 1 in the lower octave 3?

    • @steventroch
      @steventroch 8 років тому +2

      Yes, drawing holes 1,2 & 3 (D, F#,A) gives you a D chord and blowing holes 1,2 & 3 (B, E,G) gives you a Em chord.

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  8 років тому +1

      That's correct. You could leave the C blow chord alone if preferred, and another option is leaving hole 3* as a B and just lowering 2* draw to F#. Or have the full lower D chord as in the video but tune the low blow chord to A minor (C E A), or A major (C# E A). Lots of possible options!

    I've ordered twice from Brendan Powers' web store. The first time I ordered a C powerbender and got a G powerbender. The second time I ordered A, C and D powerbenders and got A, C and D lucky 13's in standard tuning. I like the lucky 13's, but how many times do I have to order until I get what I ask for?

  • @alexmc69
    @alexmc69 6 років тому

    I want! As a beginner/intermediate player with 6 quality harps already (low D, G, F, G, A, Bb, C) what model would you recommend for versatility and playability? I cannot draw bend hole 1 on the low D nor blow bend above the A.

  • @johnfleff
    @johnfleff 8 років тому +1

    Can I get a complete set but with normal shape covers...I don't want flared covers...I don't plan on using my set for bending. I want that cover as low to the comb as possible...The height of the Suzuki HA-20 is perfect for me. ???? If so, I would like to order a complete set this moment...John PS: By-the-way...do you still work with Suzuki Company in Japan? I need their phone number or/and their address. I would like to email you a PDF you will be very surprise with, to say the least.

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  7 років тому +2

      No, I don't work with Suzuki, left them in 2013. The flared lower cover is needed for normal play, not bending.

    • @harpinbrad
      @harpinbrad 5 років тому

      The flaring also doesnt go from front to back, there is a slight taper from right down to the left but viewing from the back of the harp you cant tell. Its straight and even along the back, you really dont notice, just received mine and i love it 😍

    Hello Brendan. please, can you post the layout of the reeds for the top and bottom reedplate... I'm interested to buy some keys of this model, but I want to know what is the notes layout... and what is different than a SBS Hohner with 14 holes. thanks a lot. cheers.

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  8 років тому

      Look at the photo of the Lucky 13 and you will understand. The tuning is exactly the same as a normal harp in the numbers 1-10. in the highlighted area to the left, the notes in your standard harp 1-3 are repeated, but one octave lower. Same as SBS, but without 14th hole, and with improvements like standard diatonic hole spacing, flared lower cover, non-absorbant comb, screwed reedplates, clear hole markings etc.

    Hi Brendan ...I have a question for you ... I live in Latvia and want to order a lucky 13 from Amazon.de (Germany) but i notice the harp is coming from a uk based company ,does this mean I will have to pay extra because the uk has left Europe , I really want to try the Lucky 13 but latvian customs charge 40% from non Eu countries ! Do you have any idea how this works ?

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Harry, good question. We're just working on securing one or more European Distributors right now, to address this issue. However it will take a month or so before they have Europe-based stock. We'll give the details on my website when confirmed, so it's up to you whether you decide to wait a bit to avoid extra charges.

    • @SCALE_SLOTCARS
      @SCALE_SLOTCARS 3 роки тому +1

      @@BrendanPowerMusic thank you very much for your quick reply . Yes I will happily wait for a European distribution agent ... I have a feeling I will like the Lucky 13 so I will definitely be buying More than one so Internal Europe sales would be good . Might I be so bold as to suggest thomann.de (Germany) as a possible outlet considering they also have a UK online outlet😎 Greetings from an Irish man in Latvia 👍

      An even later one.. how both the Hohners and Lucky 13s 'sound' will depend primarily on who is playing them! The tone of a harmonica is more dependent on player skill (and often preference) than virtually any other instrument.
