- Oct 14, 2011 -- It's been a busy year for Derek Trucks, who released the first album (Revelator) with his new group, The Tedeschi Trucks Band. Formed with his singer-guitarist wife Susan Tedeschi, the band also has toured extensively. In the midst of the craziness, the SG-playing slide guitar virtuoso recently stopped by Gibson's New York Showroom to share his memories of legends such as Les Paul and Joe Walsh and talk about how he developed his unique playing technique.

His humility is incredibly refreshing, and it has everything to do with what makes him such a great guitarist. It's all about the music for him. Ego never gets in the way. And that's a rare thing. Love him!

I'm really touched by their Les Paul story. Them being on stage with Les Paul, Him playing guitar and Susan singing and their son, 6 months old at the time there with them. Susan and Derek are such beautiful people, I really admire and respect them so much and I hope one day that myself and my family can have the privilege of hearing them play In person.

...what a blessing that we have Derick's (& Susan's) brilliant talent, integrity, humor, and kindness - and a truly cosmic band with those same attributes, they bring it all to every performance.
Trucks is the best! His needs are simple. One guitar, a slide, no pick...and yet the sounds he gets with very little or no effects. Truly special musician.

Favorite guitarist- speaks through the guitar better than I could dream of. I thought something was wrong when I couldnt quite play as comfortable with a pick as my fingers. Even though classical, flamenco and folk is not really my style. Best example of being you and don't fight it just be your best at it

** I had a 69 SG same color, when I was 13 ... I took it apart and it never made it back together. I should be ashamed of myself. I didn't know what I had ... I played a little, but not great. GOD Bless
