    I love the informal, “behind the scenes” vibe to this with the handheld camera. Ian did such a great job translating what Scott was saying into something a dummy like me can understand.

    These swing journey videos are amazing. Watching Ian’s lessons definitely turned on the mental lightbulb for me. I felt like the swing path made perfect sense. Brought it to my instructor and we worked on it. I am hitting some of the best, most consistent shots I’ve ever hit. It even feels effortless compared to how I was swinging before and, if anything, I’ve gained some distance. The golf swing never made as much sense to me as it does now. Thanks for doing these videos, boys. Much appreciated.

    I am 100% nerding out on this modern swing journey topic..... to think back on how I learned about the swing ("Golf My Way" VHS tapes from Nicklaus back in 1989), makes me want to be 16 again and starting down the rabbit hole of golf all over again. Keep it going lads.

    Based on Cowx's own instructions as found in his 4 lesson series given at Smash Factory Golf 8 months ago, the downswing Ian is working on requires him to make a very strong, fast pivot in order to get the ball to travel straight or slightly to the right. Otherwise he will still hook. Cowx himself says this much pivot is beyond the physical capability of most average recreational golfers and especially seniors like me.

    Great video gents. I am going through the exact same process with my coach. Much the same as what Ian is working on. Slowly coming along with a bit more consistency now. Scores are now within 4 or 5 shots of each round. This is the most pleasing thing. Been working on alignment more this last week and realised I have been setting up left of target. Starting to feel very happy with my progress.

    😳, my last lesson was basically Ian’s drills. Smart ball, check. Similar training aid with the ball bearings in the shaft, except taking it to parallel in a vertical enough position to drop the bearings and start my swing. [to help with better wrist position at the top and avoiding ATL].

  • @johnk.atchley5079
    @johnk.atchley5079 2 роки тому

    Are you by any chance using the Hackmotion wrist sensor that Cowx has used a lot? Not perhaps so much to change things, but to know precisely where your wrists are and what they are doing on good shots and bad ones.

  • @decdoesgolf
    @decdoesgolf 2 роки тому

    Ian, correct me if I'm wrong, but in the past you've talked about preferring your clubs bent flat to protect against the left miss - is that still the case with your current set, and if so, do you risk 'overdoing' this swing change by trying to achieve a dynamic toe-up?

    I don't know why, but as a 16 handicapper, I'm always shocked to learn that golfers of your ability still struggle with certain elements of your swing/game, and that you are also constantly looking to find ways to improve. To me, you are so good already that there's no need to practice any more! Great video, thanks for making content like this. One question, do you think a mid-handicapper could benefit from that "smart ball" device? I already have a version of the "orange whip" so I've got that covered, but the idea of having something to reinforce keeping things connected would be helpful I would imagine.

    Watching Ian's swings at minutes 8 to 9, it does not seem to me that he is looping the lead arm and shaft as far behind him and as far down as he was demonstrating during his warmup. The nice shot at minute 9 seems to be the result of a fairly straight back and down, not a distinct looping motion behind him and dropping the club down low and shallow.
