He is talking to Mother War (sang by the incomparable Liza Minelli) who is the gas mask faced character in the WTTBP video. Its about a soldier writing to his mother the night before a battle, he knows he is going to die and is going over their relationship
The woman singing is Liza Minelli, the one yes. She liked MCR so much she sang on their song. And the other backup singers are parents of the band. There...you have much info
This song is so frenetic and funky. The melodic changes kind of melt your brain, don't they!? Once you get comfortable with the insanity, it becomes a lifetime favorite. And this whole song is based on back and forth letters between The Patient (who was a soldier) and his Mother or Mother War (depending on the interpretation) and are all about war, regret and rejection for evil deeds.
One of my all time favorite My Chem songs. I loved it on the record and when I saw them perform it live for the first time I was blown away, an absolute monster at a live show! I'm from the same state as them and around the same age so I've been seeing them for years and with how much they've progressed musically it's been a joy to be along for the ride! Loving all your reactions to my favorite band, keep up the amazing work!
Aw thank you so much for your kind words regarding my reactions, glad you are loving them!! Yeah MCR are really impressing me at the moment, I've not heard a bad song yet, thanks for watching 😁🤘
No worries Joe, I like to keep the viewers happy, without viewers there is no channel, so thank you for every video that you and every one else has watched! I appreciate it!
this is a concept album, this time focused on the story of a dying character known as the Patient, who suffers from cancer. During the album, the Patient discovers that his illness is terminal, and reflects on his life, while his death appears represented by a parade.
This song continues the war theme of previous songs you've done from this album, it's part of the overall story. Great reaction as always! The Sharpest Lives, House of Wolves, Thank You for the Venom, and Disenchanted are all incredible songs by them that I hope you will do eventually!
You gotta put this on your playlist and drive, Lee 🤣 still love this reaction, you looked so confused, it was adorable 😂💞 Literally, it made me have actual tears in my eyes 😂
Great reaction love this song I remember learning it when it came out and had to learn hot to play barre chords but it was worth it I played it to get into my music schooling
You’re spot on that’s basically the point of the album there’s no point because the cancer patient is the main character of the album and he knows he’s going to hell and has no hope.
all the comments are similar, but it’s about a soldier writing to his mother as he’s in war. his letter is telling his mom “mama we all got to hell, etc” and since he killed so many people is why his mom is resenting him like “when you go don’t return to me”
I love this album so much! Gerard Way is so creative and such a good actor. I often feel like I'm watching a musical when I listen to their music. That was Liza Minnelli singing the Mama part!
my interpretation is about the soldiers off to war, Mama is basically their own country and how the soldiers have a hard time being reintroduced to society. This is a concept album, so it does have something to do with the stroy line but the song by itself is talking about war and soldiers. At least that is what I have interpreted it as.
The entire black Parade album ties together and has the overall message of coping with life and death and carrying on after. There are heavy overturns of regret and depression throughout. Maybe not for a video, but once you have reacted to them you should listen to the full album in order some time... you will find new insights to it!
As a massive fan of Avenged Sevenfold I also love me some My Chemical Romance and Bullet For My Valentine- my top three bands so thanks for doing some MCR 👍🏻🤟🏻👌🏻 The lady that sings in this song is Liza Minnelli
Once you listen to all of the black parade album, you’ll see the whole story. But essentially it’s the patient looking back on his life and all he’s done and realizing he’s likely going to hell and coming to terms with it. Also, when you’re ready to see something very different from them listen to the album that followed this one, Dangers Days, and watch the videos for Na Na Na and Sing. They follow each other so watch Na Na Na first. Not to give away the story, but the album and the story in those videos is basically the pre-qual to the Killjoys comic book that Gerard wrote to follow the videos
Awesome reaction again! MCR has inflluenced many of our lives (I was a teenager when they were releasing their music) so it is great so see people enjoying their music in the current days
I haven't heard MCR in what seems like forever. Nice reaction. It's strange to hear song that sound upbeat and 'fun' that are about something very deep... (Avatar does that a bit, too.. "Child" from their new album is a good example).
To me I thought it was about a soldier of war..the lies and brainwashing of war..I'm still not sure? Lol but I couldn't ever listen to this song when my mom was around

Thank you so much!
If I read it right Liza Minelli was their grandmas favorite singer, this is why they asked her to be part of the song.

The song being “One hell of a ride” is the best description of this song that I’ve ever heard!!! I love it, thanks for reacting!
Haha aw thank you! And thank you for watching 😁🤘
The next song on the track after Mama is "Sleep" highly recommend, very deep song.

The whole Black Parade album, pls. Rock Opera at its best.
Yesss, first one to comment! Mama is a great song, and one of my personal favorites. Thanks for reacting to it.
No problem shana! Glad you enjoyed it! 😀

This song is a told story of a soldier in combat who's about to die.
Aw man, the memories. Haha miss this song. It’s like being at a carnival :)
I just noticed Mic Shinoda and almost choked on my water :D
Hahaha be careful, it is funny tho 🤣
Fun reaction again!!!
Thanks so much, I was confused 😂😂😂
Awesome reaction again! MCR has inflluenced many of our lives (I was a teenager when they were releasing their music) so it is great so see people enjoying their music in the current days

Heh, Mic Shinoda gave me a good chuckle.
Asking “ is he talking to his mum?” On a song called Mama halfway thru was a bit much 😂
I can be so stupid mate 😂😂😂
great reaction again! love hearing your thoughts as they’re always very well articulated and interesting!
house of wolves next dude 🤘🏼
