Welcome to Djibouti
I hope you had a great time.
Thank you, I sure did!!
Glad to see that Djibouti makes news also on her landscape rather than its strategic location which brings all those bases here
I know I’ll never be able to visit the places you’re exploring. Seeing it through your eyes is a treat and I find myself anxiously waiting for your next video. I travel the the world for the type of business I do (Executive Protection) but never have the opportunity in your visits. Thank you for your great work. Stay safe be aware of your surroundings and most of of all have fun!!!
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!
Hey nice editing and video.. Djibouti is pretty cool.. I'm currently in Mogadishu 🇸🇴 Somalia

Somalii gang taking over 🇸🇴
Good to have you back.
Greetings from Portugal, love you story and also listen to your podcast in ghd overland.🇵🇹👍
Love seeing those Djibouti roads out by the port, I've driven them myself many times. Spent 5 years there working at the US Navy Base Camp Lemonnier.
Wow, I was fascinated by the mind-blowing views from my second home, DJibouti..... good to see you again man, keep up the good work
Wow this is epic!
Great meeting you at Expo East. Glad to see the next installment!
This is awesome dude, how many people can legit say theyve been to Djibouti City?
or any of the other crazy places youve been for that matter.
Love your channel dude, youre living life the way its meant to be lived, and im thankful you make the effort to share it with me and the rest of the world!
Thanks for the kind words!
Oh, yesterday, I was wondering about what happened to you, because your last video is from 2 months ago! Good to see you again!
If you follow Dan on Instagram, you can see what he has been up to. Cris-crossing the United States, attending almost every Jeep or adventure travel event that he can.
Waiting for next videos.....! 🇮🇳
beautiful place
It really looks like the moon or another planet. Nice to see all that different landscape and beautiful see.
There have been many times in my life I have felt as if I have driven to the Moon or Mars, though Djibouti takes the cake!
@@TheRoadChoseMe Yeah I had the same feeling when watching your video. Very nice footage really.
Great video! Another Jeep fest in Toledo was recently announced for next August. Hope to see you there!
Fascinating!
wow, epic travels, my sis was almost stationed there some time back. i really enjoy the shots you get.
Great video, please come to Somaliland
man i was bummed when your africa trip ended, glad to sign on and see some new content!
Great video mate love the insight :)
I'm also stressing over getting a multi entry visa to Ethiopia cos going there in January. Even though I'm going by airplane, I'm hopping back and forth between Somaliland and Djibouti a d Ethiopia in transit.
Yet apparently a single entry Ethiopian visa is used up just by going from Addis to Djibouti cos it has a 45min layover in Dire Dawa which is not considered transit ! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
It can be a pain.. but as long as you fly into Addis, you can just get a new visa on arrival each time, easy
@@TheRoadChoseMe thanks mate appreciate it. Yeah must be a money making exercise. Anyways great channel and loving following your journey :)
@@HughesyTech you should make time for Kenya, a very great place to visit.
Great video! Keep up with the good work!
This is a dust desert just like the outbacks!
Nice
Ain’t that the East African Rift? I did an essay on it in college.
.. yes, I think it has a few different names
Really inspirational videos. I'm hoping to drive from Morroco to South Africa in the future. Do you you speak any other languages, or how do you get on with English?
On the West Coast you really want to learn French, it makes a big difference!
Southern and Eastern you'll be fine with English.
@@TheRoadChoseMe I'll get studying while I'm saving for my car. Really loving your channel.👍🏾Did you ever meet any female only overlanders? I wonder if it would be safe doing it that way. I noticed a big difference when I was alone in Morocco.
Yes, on the East Coast it's quite common for women to overland and backpack solo.. and sometimes they team up too.
On the West Coast I only met one, and I heard about one more. It's much more difficult (even for me), though it can be done, if you're determined enough! Good luck!
@@TheRoadChoseMe if it is dry waterless foodless now then ibin batutas queen of sheba and islam and christians were very brave to travel to Africa how about people on silk road and spice merchants across Asia to China .the planes ships lorries cars have changed the landscape .Why do modern young people whine with all the modern luxiuries oh my God
I wish you can project map on your videos
🇩🇯🇩🇯🇩🇯🇩🇯
7:35 oceanfront property 😅😅😅😅
Come to Somaliland.
Hamud Egeh 😂
Lolll
the coral reef seems not really fully vital
Just out of curiosity, what was the reason you didn't consider / didn't do Ethiopia - Djibouti - Eritrea - Sudan? I know in your AMA you talked about the border between Ethiopia and Eritrea being fussy but as far as I'm aware Eritrea Sudan border is doable.
Things were very strange then - the peace deal had just gone through with Eritrea and Ethiopia and so it was a very big unknown.
Also nobody could tell me (and I still can't find info) on going from Eritrea into Sudan - nobody knows if it's actually doable as a foreigner, and if the roads work. I've never directly spoken to anyone that has done it.
@@TheRoadChoseMe well with the current tension between Sudan and Ethiopia and my plans to do a Europe to Cairo trip in the next couple of years I might just have to find out 😅
Ethiopia right now is a HUGE problem. As far as anyone can tell, all land borders are closed. You can fly in/out no problem, but not driving.
@@TheRoadChoseMe so I guess south Sudan might have to become an option for the Cape to Cairo road 🤔, I have seen more and more videos of people visiting it in recent years so it's definitely doable. I don't however know what the border situation with Sudan is like
I met people that had been - flying in/out of the capital and staying there is doable, there is a strong protection force there. Everything outside that is a literal war zone. I spoke to a Doctor who treats 30+ gunshot victims a day.
South Sudan is NOT an option.
😎👍
Hey brother I was wondering why you didn't go to somaliland then Djibouti it would have been much easier
The visa for Somaliland wasn't a sure thing, and I wasn't sure about safety there.
@@TheRoadChoseMe Hey brother, I was wondering what type of Jeep is your car what year and what model the one your driving in this video
2011 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Why didn't you go to Eritrea?
They just declared a truce with Ethiopia, and nobody could tell me what would happen at the un-manned border. The ambassador figured I would probably be arrested for entering illegally, because there would be nobody to give me a stamp. I desperately wanted to go, but decided it wasn't worth it. Next time!
Did you try thru the Sudan ? Thanks
Sure did, absolutely loved it. I have a video from every country - ua-cam.com/video/9pqtfwlfDAw/v-deo.html
You go frutcci ...
Fratacci :) glad to see someone who has bought beers like me there. Cheers!

There has gotta be a back story here. Are you traveling alone? Seriously, is the any female companionship on this trip? Even Lewis & Clark stumbled into an Indigenous female once in a while.
I've been alone for about 50% of the trip. I had a partner with me, but we went seperate ways. Also sometimes I convoy with other overlanders
For a few days out of every month, when my girl is on her period, i visit Djibouti 😋
