I built an $800 PC in 2008 and it was my main computer until the end of 2016. Very reliable 3Ghz e8400 core 2 duo paired with 8800GTX video card. Technology certainly stagnated in the last decade. The computer I built in 2016 to replace it might last until 2030 if the components hold up.
i paid 30 bucks in April for a E8400 in a TFX Case with 2GB RAM, DVD/CDRW, and 160GB HDD. Put 4GB of RAM and added a Radeon HD5450 1GB BOOM! a quick and easy windows 7 machine for a HTPC for Kodi and Netfix! 720p @ 60fps, no problem! I just need a better TFX PSU... 270W is okay.

Just replace my Q6600 core2quads. The Ryzen 2700x with 32Gb of memory should hold me far into the future. The 1600x I built for the streaming and download server is a good system also. I am up to date.
It's crazy how much longer computers last now. I built a gaming PC in 2012 for $1,000 with an 3770k and 16 GB ram. Other than the video card dying a few years back (where I just purchased a $50 replacement) and upgrading the ram around that same time to 32 gb (for equally cheap), it was fine until recently when I really started seeing mediocre performance in games and upgraded. And honestly, for regular use, it would still be very fast. You just couldn't have that kind of longevity with computers in the 90's and 2000's.
I have almost the same experience (even video card dying few years back). Just finished building new PC few days ago mainly for gaming, and as you said, for other tasks it would have still been fine. Hopefully it will last another 10 years.
@@TheCtibbs I doubt that honestly, I had to get rid of my i7 4790K and GTX 970, with ddr3 ram. The cpu isn't the problem it's everything else, especially since I wanted to use Windows 11 and an nvme ssd. Got a 12700k when it came out (which is now more than half price) and 3090 (same case) which would last me another 5 years but I'm probably gonna upgrade next year again. It was a night and day difference though. The 12700k is now cheaper than the 4790k I bought when it came out. The great thing about PC building is I can sell or keep my old parts. It's like chasing a high. I don't need to upgrade, but the ability to do so drives me to do things that require more power, making me want to upgrade every few years. Honestly though if you can afford it, I wouldn't keep using ddr3 and PCIe 3 in 2024, when ddr5 and PCIE 5 are a thing. Get something in the middle. I'm still on ddr4. Your platform is over 10 years old, it's best to upgrade at least every 5-7 years like consoles do.
@Ciffer-1998entirely depends on what you do. if you are just a casual gamer who wants to play on 4k high settings and changes games like socks, then yes
Same, my my pc is still a 3770 oc 4.1 ghz, 24 gb ram and GTX 1660 Ti, my GTX 770 died in 2018 so I upgraded a year later, in some games still have smooth 60 fps, meanwhile other the fps drops to 40s & 50s, spiderman remastered run at 60 fps custom settings without any upscaling
On just a bad cpu, i'd recommend using your gpu to stream. OBS and xsplit utilities your cpu to stream, try using nvidia shadowplay to stream since it uses your gpu more than your cpu to stream, overall giving your system a better feel.
Hi everyone! I posted a new video "I Got this Laptop for Free in 2008. Here's How It Holds Up In 2017" ua-cam.com/video/aRGjYeQe0ao/v-deo.html thanks for visiting 🙏
That thing is pretty hardcore, with a small formfactor wooden case, a rockium processor and a cutting edge screen made out of quality canvas. The memory depended on how tired you were when using it, which was the best that could be done at the time. Also it had no GPU, as there was no need for one at the time, making it unable to even display a Picture. But it could handle about 0.5 calculations per second at it's peak, sometimes exceeding times of even 1 calculation per minute. The most expensive parts of the PC were the case, and the canvas screen, as canvas was pretty damn expensive at the time and the case was custom made. The canvas cost 1900$ and the case cost 110$. Let's just say i wouldn't play Minecraft on it.
8:00 Your predictions came true. I am still using my ryzen 7 1700x with gtx1080 build today in 2024, and I still don't feel the need to upgrade. It wasn't even 2000 to build it.

Hi There, Before you retire that system buy an used Xeon X56xx chip and install it. I just upgraded my system from a i7 960, to a Xeon X5670 and "only" OC it to 3.6 (3,75 ht) so far. Its performing great. I did this after buying a GTX 1080 card (old GPU 2x6970 2GB) as the first component of a new system, but decided to try out the Xeon X56xx before i retired it. 6 cores with HT with no OC issues so far great results. The i7 9xx series are 130W cpu's on the 45nm layout. Xeon X56xx are 95W on the 32nm build. So my cpu @ 3,6 with all cores, ht and turbo on and 1,32V 150MHz bus and 24x multi is 100% stable. (Motherboard: Rampage III extreme, 12GB DDR3 @ (752MHz/ 2.4GHz). I'm really happy. Way less noise, and performs way over my expectations
Ciliaris1 The 1366 Xeon's are great ! Now im using a x5650 running at 4ghz at 1.285 volts on my asus P6T V2, In cinebench i got like 940 points in cinebench r15
Chubbyemu great video! The 3rd generation i processors sandy bridge were a lot faster than what you have now. If you had that one you probably would have been able to go on for a couple or more years!
That's how I would describe it. Very first i7s were 920 2.67ghz(20x133mhz) for around $300, 940 2.93ghz(22x133mhz) for between $550 and $600, and 965 3.2ghz(24x133mhz) for $999. A while later we got a new cpu stepping and models 930, 950 and 975 with similar prices compared to the originals but with a bump to the multiplier on each(21, 23 and 25 respectively).
In 2018, I still use my gaming PC bought for $1000 in 2009. The only considerable upgrade was last year, when I ditched my HD 5870 for a GTX 1060, added 2GB of RAM to get an 8GB total, changed the case and some coolers. It runs just about everything with fairly good perfomance at 1080p and will serve me at least more 2 or 3 years. The longevity of RAM, motherboards and CPUs has improved big time in this decade.
My CPU is top tier for my MoBo (lga 1156), so I would need to upgrade the entire system. When I do that, I'll want to get a better GPU too (my 1060 model is the cheaper one and the 3GB VRAM is starting to show its age), so it will be basically a new computer. But I don't have bottomless pockets. And I can live with 30 fps gaming for some time if I need to (not the case atm, except in very specific titles).
That's gonna be tough, as you said it's gonna be a whole new PC. I'd get a used i7-4770k, you can get them for like 200$ in good condition and a brand new LGA1150 motherboard isn't more than 70$, they're DDR3 and the i7 is still a beast of a CPU. You could also go with AMD but Ryzens run on AM4 which is only with DDR4 and you'd need around 100$ for 8 gigs of fast DDR4 (Ryzens are super dependent on CPU speed).
I saw his CD drive was made by LG and thought "lol I didnt know LG made that". Then I looked at my 5 year old current pc and it's the exact same drive. facepalm
They are way more common than you think, it's just that most don't use mic or let it be known they are girls because they will just get harassed by creeps. Name any multiplayer game and I can guarantee you've played with tons of girls and just didn't know it.
I really admire how clean you have kept the case, for 7 years there's usually bound to happen a couple scratches and finger prints everywhere, but you have kept it in an amazing condition
thanks everyone for the support on the last video. i really appreciate it. Summertime is here this weekend in USA, so Weekends with Bernie is back! 🌞🌞🌞
Man.... watching this on a pc with a R7 5700X, 32gb of 3600MHZ Ram (unthinkable back in 2010), and a RTX4060TI that could take that 970 to the moon and back 10 times is crazy.... computers really have come such a long way. even more crazy to think that even my computer which is significantly more recent would only be considered on the high side of the mid end spectrum/ on the low side of the high end spectrum.
Here let me lower the flex, I just fixed a pc I found in the trash that has a 1080ti, 32gb ddr4 ram, i7 7700k. Will be giving my gf this pc for Valentine’s Day 🫡 also don’t worry I cleaned the case, cable management and it’s practically looking brand new
Again when you build a computer you feel like you accomplished something it's a hell of an experience and you keep a computer upgraded and well taken care of it will last you for years
Agreed. I find it very therapeutic to build computers. I remember being so intimidated when I built my first PC in 2000. Now it's something I could do practically in my sleep.
2013 built a pc for 850$ of all components 1step below the most expensive, It still holds up but now I can't upgrade. RAM and GPU are 3x more expensive than back then. Intel 3770K, Asus Radeon 7990 3GB, 8Gb RAM, OCZ vertex 4 128GB SSD.
Ddr3 is pretty affordable used today. I run basically the same system as him with a x5675 xeon overclocked, 24gb ram and a 980ti, it still does pretty great
you content is actually superb, I even like your talk videos on motivation and shit. I dont even know how I found the channel. but what I like about you is you do unspecialised content; never know what youre gonna make. I kinda like that, most UA-camrs specialise in one type of video and do the same thing over and over, whereas you do whatever you feel like and make a video; and to me thats awesome! keep it up! :)
Wow really timely. I built a computer back in 2011 for about $1400, and I've been thinking about doing some upgrades myself, possibly a whole new built. Good to hear your perspective!
depending on what parts were used in your 2011 build, you could probably save a little money on a new build....if your PSU, hard drive(s) and case are still in good condition, you're looking at around $100-$200 savings...just would need a new GPU, CPU, Motherboard and RAM...
I'm also including the cost of Windows 7 operating system in the cost. But if I can reuse my power supply, case that would be good. I'd probably want to start with a fresh hard drive, both a solid state for booting and mechanical for storage. I haven't looked at new hard drives as the technology has gotten a lot better. Although thinking about the case, it looks like some of these new GPU's are crazy large. I'd need to do some measurements to see if I could use the same case.
Jim the CPU, motherboard, PSU are all essentially the same however do get your point. Think the wider point is that you’ll have to upgrade everything in life with how quickly technology advances in certain areas. For instance not many (perhaps 1%) people would keep the same phone for 7 years.
It's a Fresh Prince who has lost his memory after he punched an alien in the face saying "it ain't over till the fat lady sings", but than he got taken away by some robots just as he was lighting his sigar. It's Willy Boy of course, trying to be smarter than the average Urkel. :p
Good to see I'm not the only one using a 2010 PC, I have the V10 cooler which is a bit bigger than that one, absolutely overkill haha. Looks like we have the same issue with the old motherboard too regarding SATA3/USB3.
definitely. I think with USB-C and it supporting thunderbolt 3, that might for sure spell the end of this PC in another few years. I can still get some life out of this machine by upgrading the processor, as many of the comments keep suggesting.
Yeah true, I've only upgraded the SSD and I've gone through 3 graphics cards but I keep buying the same generation from 2010 when they die, so replacing is only like $20 lol. I've been considering a new PC for 2-3 years now, but apart from slow video rendering speeds it still just does what I want.
I think, if you are going to build a new PC, you should take us (The viewers and subscribers) with you. Unboxing, building, changes etc. I think quite a few would be interested to see what you'd be doing with the PC. Your choice though of course :)
8:01 Okay Chubbyemu it's 2024 now. Time to show us how your 2017 PC stacks up. I'm 100% certain that you're still using the PC you built after this video. And I'd love to see it!

Coming from 2024, when driver support for the GTX cards has been ended and AMD is working on an APU more powerful than a brand new PC from 2017. Nvidia is still developing the RTX 5090 and Intel has burst into the GPU scene and has a very competitive upscaler that beats FSR. How time flies...
MartN187 the 980ti I heard is a tad bit faster than the 1070. But it's better to buy the 1070 (unless you get a deal on a 980ti since they're selling for
I'm still using the Asus tower I bought for $899 in early 2012. Still running Windows 7 too. It came with Intel Core i7 (3rd Gen) 3770 / 3.4 GHz, 2 1TB SATA drives (1HDD & 1 storage drive), 16GB of DDR3 SDRAM, NVIDIA GTX650 Ti with 2GB SDRAM, DVD RW, 16 in 1 card reader, 7.1 channel surround audio. I haven't upgraded it at all except to add a 5TB external drive (have an extensive movie and TV show collection). I've looked at some new desktops lately and I'm not all that impressed, although I am interested in getting a SSD for the speed it offers (or maybe a hybrid drive).
Haha, I designed those clamshell backings for the OCZ XTC RAM you have. You sure kept everything in great shape. If you ever called or dealt with OCZ support or marketing from 2002-2009, you probably talked to me. -Sean
Agility 3 was a Vertex 3 with cheaper NAND, designed for budget. Given the issues with Sandforce drives over long-term, which I think has a lot to do with a lack of cache, the Agility 3 had a lot of issues. I was at OCZ in 2011, but would have been in the Compatibility Labs in those days. Ryan Petersen once shipped about 200K worth of failed DDR3 to Europe and then tried to screw the distributor on the return. OCZ was a shady operation.
Hey Bernard! I just wanted to say that I was initially attracted to you because of your weight loss videos, but I am definitely loving your other content. It is all very high-quality, and I just really love your personality. You're just a funny, quirky, down-to-earth dude, and I really like it. I literally died when you mocked someone who was making fun of your "soft, estrogenic asian body." I will never forget that. It was hilarious. Don't worry so much about maintaining an audience based on niche content. You'll always have a loyal group of people who like you simply for you!
Even if it makes the tech world significantly less exciting as a result, I'm actually pleased with the fact that we get to keep our stuff for longer and longer. Apart from the SSD and graphics card, which have been upgraded in 2015 and 2016 respectively, all of the parts in my computer were purchased in 2012. I am only now considering an upgrade of the base platform, not because of the performance which is still fine, but for small things like having more SATA3 ports, NVMe support, and better connectivity in general.
yeah connectivity will be a sore spot in the coming years. i shoot 4k 100 Mbps, which is close to the SATA III limit. raising those standards will seal the fate of this PC unfortunately
Computexpert lol the original comment stated that it was more powerful. As in, the GTX 970 AND the system it's in runs games BETTER than a PS4 Pro. And all research beyond articles titled, "New PS4 Pro Could Give PC Fanboys A Run for Their Money," shows that it's comparable to low (or at least lower)-tier cards. The Scorpio, on the other hand, might very well run like a 1070 or better like people are saying. I don't think so, but it also hasn't been released so who am I to pull shit out of my ass and present it as pure fact.
hey man, great vid. eBay Xeon w3680 or w3690 CPUs, they aren't that expensive and are 6 core/12 thread and should work in your board. Also they are unlocked so you can OC them easily, and this should help your streaming massively (besides using a capture card and streaming with a second PC). Your PC is still a monster, ride it till the wheels fall off! maybe continue to utilize the PCI and PCI-E expansions to add more usb 3.0 and sata III ports too. Used 980tis are going for $250 or less as well! Rock on, man!
He already has a 1070, so a 980Ti is useless. Xeon would be good for streaming and doing it cheaply, but I guess one of those cheaper AMD 8 core processors would work as well if he wants a more massive upgrade (with a newer motherboard as well). Ryzen 1700 especially seems like a great choice, and it should be cheaper by next year when another bunch of Ryzen chips will come out.
Very interesting video. My "PC-story" is similar, but I went with the six core Phenom II 1090T Black Edition. I find that this CPU in some aspects has gotten better with time as developers started to understand and take use of multiple cores and threads, even for the "simplest" of softwares but also for diverse encoding and rendering tasks. The six cores OC'ed at 3,8GHz is alright even if the so-called IPC is rather terrible. If I don't waste all my cash on alcohol and females this summer, I might build a Ryzen platform. Not that I need a new rig for what I do, but.. you know. Kind of fun. Anyways, thanks again for interesting video!
At first I had a ASUS motherboard for which I cannot recall the name, but some years ago I changed to the "MSI 970 gaming" motherboard because I "needed" a board with higher max GB RAM and an extra PCI for a SATA-card. The ASUS board still works, so I am now considering putting the Phenom II back into that board and setup my old folks with it, buy a cheap 8320e CPU for the MSI board and use it as Plex server - and build Ryzen 7 platform as my new workhorse.
Hindsight from 2024: Kind of ironic that he mentioned a $2000 PC in 2017 would last until 2024. My i7 5820k build with GTX 970 from 2015 lasted me until this year when I decided on my birthday to upgrade on March 2024 with an i7 14700k with RTX 4070 Super. The old $2000 2015 rig lasted me almost 9 years of gaming but is still serving me right now as an SMB file server on a network that I regularly remote desktop and pull files back and forth from time to time.
@@chills_tiny_mom The 5820k is still up 24/7. The 14700k build is still working 100% without software crashes, even COD. Thank god I'm an experienced overclocker because right when I saw from day 2 that at default, I was hitting vcore of 1.41v+ I knew I had to undervolt that puppy. I have two profiles that I work with. On normal gaming/use, I undervolt by 0.060mv adaptive 240W PL1, 253W PL2 AVX offset of 4. If I end up CPU limited even by a tiny bit, I change to -0.035mv adaptive, 253W PL1 and PL2, AVX offset of 2. Both on gigabyte perfdrive mode. I haven't had instability at all nor signs of degraded cores / IMC. There's no negative effects using resizable BAR settings nor with my 6400 MT/s XMP settings either.
ive always said with smart purchases its 100 a year for regular apps and 200 for gaming when it comes to budgeting for a pc that will run efficiently. for example since 2010 ive bought a 1100-1400 build every 5-7 years and its worked perfectly , holding out till 4k monitors and gpus are a bit more affordable
Great video! You sum up the differences in the advancement of technology in the 2000s versus the 2010s very well. The 2000s technology definitely had more innovation while the 2010s technology enabled people to do things faster. I also built my own PC In 2008, where it had a Core 2 Quad Q9300, 4GB of RAM, and a 9800 GTX. I later upgraded the RAM and GPU, and that rig lasted me until 2019 when it finally died. Pretty amazing that I was able to get over 11 years of use from that PC, and it still ran fine. If the timeline was shifted the other way, where you have a 1997 PC being used in 2008, that would not be feasible at all. You can even see this with mobile devices as well. In 2000, we had basic candy bar cellphones, but we ended the decade with smartphones in 2010. Ten years later in 2020, the basic fundamental technology of smartphones generally remained the same, but we just now have faster smartphones.
First off, the i7-930 is a FIRST Gen Core i series. Sandy Bridge (2x00) were the second gen. Also, depending on what program you use for video encoding a fast NVidia GPU would speed rendering up a lot more than a faster/newer cpu would.
If you want to be technical then it is FIRST Gen. That is what Intel states and they ought to know. The 930 uses the same Architecture as the 920, it's just higher clocked. Back then Intel would continue to release higher clock speed versions of the same processor, unlike what they tend to do today. You stated and then deleted the following. "Cmon you know it all, u know what he means" No I don't know it all (but obviously more than he or you do) and no I don't know what he meant, only what he stated.
cee128d haha I took it out cause I knew you'd have sand in your panties over it. U should have just kept quiet about it If you talk to non tech people which it seems like you don't, explaining second release of first generation, same architecture blah blah blah no one cares. No one cares. When you talk like that, regular people just flock to Apple.
well, now we are here in 2024, and I have a great system with an i5 7400 and a titan xp from 2017, it runs great, and the 1080 ti and 1070 ti are great budget options
Wow I'm finding alot of similarities, to a point where it's kinda weird. - Mine was also built in 2010. - Was around the same price. - Also still is my main PC now. And the specs which are quite similar: - i7-950 - 6GB RAM - GTX460 (also Gigabye), replaced as well. - 60GB OCZ Vertex SSD, problematic too. - Cooler Master Haf-X Casing Played SC2 as well. Also is my most stable PC, OCZ SSD aside (they fixed it much later with firmware updates). Only Windows7 installed till now though. My next PC should be an Intel NUC. Thanks for this video!
The funny thing is even now, 6 years later, this thing is more than usable. A simple bios update, x5675 or better xeon paired with a 1080 ti or similar graphics card, this computer would still pump out good frames even on newer games.
InfernalShroom I have an IBM 8187 that has currently locked me out due to Windows deactivation due to graphics card removal but up till that point it's been very reliable only ever really doing one thing and that's just playing music through audacity and a bit of editing too
With a rather beasty 2.80 gigahertz Pentium 4 processor though it's not quite as gutsy as it used to be... and it only has 2 gigs of RAM to add on top of that along with Windows XP
Good old train video from 1987. I watched that video like a year or 2 ago. Nice throwback, I appreciate it, although I was born in 2003 and didn't start remembering before 2008.

On just a bad cpu, i'd recommend using your gpu to stream. OBS and xsplit utilities your cpu to stream, try using nvidia shadowplay to stream since it uses your gpu more than your cpu to stream, overall giving your system a better feel.
Chubbyemu should have overclocked the 930 instead, but only if you had a good aftermarket cooler. It'll hit 4ghz easy
Good pick, grabbed an x58 rig for free recently and dropped in one of those for chips. Still a great machine.

Yeah cool
Now show us the pc you built in 1360 for $2010
That thing is pretty hardcore, with a small formfactor wooden case, a rockium processor and a cutting edge screen made out of quality canvas.

Came for the weight loss, stayed for the good content. Keep it up, Bernard!
Chubbyemu I think i7-930 is 1st Generation of intel i7 CPU's.
Nope: it was the refresh of 920. First gen: 920, 940, 960. Second gen: 930, 950, 970.
wait , he's in his 30's or 40's? wow he looks 20
And I can live with 30 fps gaming for some time if I need to (not the case atm, except in very specific titles).
gonira Which CPU do you have?
@@aleksastarinac9755 i7 870
That's gonna be tough, as you said it's gonna be a whole new PC.
Hey thanks for the information. Always good to know my options.

Wow really timely. I built a computer back in 2011 for about $1400, and I've been thinking about doing some upgrades myself, possibly a whole new built. Good to hear your perspective!
thanks! yeah, i could probably get away with another 12-18 months on this rig
depending on what parts were used in your 2011 build, you could probably save a little money on a new build....if your PSU, hard drive(s) and case are still in good condition, you're looking at around $100-$200 savings...just would need a new GPU, CPU, Motherboard and RAM...
I'd need to do some measurements to see if I could use the same case.

that's awesome! i only had to deal with OCZ in 2011 when the Agility 3 kept failing on me, so might not have
Agility 3 was a Vertex 3 with cheaper NAND, designed for budget.

Still more powerful than a ps4 pro.
You are completely wrong in every possible way
Nope, the 970 easily beats out the ps4 pros gpu
Lol, are you saying 970 is slower than Pro's GPU?
Computexpert, Wrong

Rock on, man!
hopefully you see this if you were hoping to upgrade!

Tusen Koppar Kaffe what motherboard do you use I have gigabyte ga m52l-s3p rev.1.0
At first I had a ASUS motherboard for which I cannot recall the name, but some years ago I changed to the "MSI 970 gaming" motherboard because I "needed" a board with higher max GB RAM and an extra PCI for a SATA-card. The ASUS board still works, so I am now considering putting the Phenom II back into that board and setup my old folks with it, buy a cheap 8320e CPU for the MSI board and use it as Plex server - and build Ryzen 7 platform as my new workhorse.

ive always said with smart purchases its 100 a year for regular apps and 200 for gaming when it comes to budgeting for a pc that will run efficiently. for example since 2010 ive bought a 1100-1400 build every 5-7 years and its worked perfectly , holding out till 4k monitors and gpus are a bit more affordable
Still better than my pc
Fresh yes you are true it is also better than my potato
Same
@yo wtf put the mask back on lol
I don't have any computer :'(
@yo wtf put the mask back onThanks folk
i7-4790k
gtx970-sli
4x8gb blue ripjaws
bought in 2016. still runs like a champ
two 970s is equivalent to a 1080ti when optimized correctly, I can imagine you still being able to use it depending on what games you play.
Damn
Heres mine
i7 4770
Gtx 1060 6gb
2x4gb hyperx
I built this PC for $1360 in 2010. Here’s how much I had to upgrade to keep it relevant in 2017
built a good PC, but lost some weight.. this is againts the law of physic..
Stigs stupid cousin but most gamers are not fat dude
I literally said "lol cable management" at 0:15
Ah yes, 2023. A year where a computer from 2021 can't play 2023 games. "Exciting time in the world right now. Exciting time"
1:46 its wednesday my dudes ahhhhhh
haha just what i thought
Lol
I paused the fuckin video just to see if someone else noticed.
Pᴀʀᴀsᴇʟᴇɴᴇ Tᴀᴏ same haha

First off, the i7-930 is a FIRST Gen Core i series. Sandy Bridge (2x00) were the second gen. Also, depending on what program you use for video encoding a fast NVidia GPU would speed rendering up a lot more than a faster/newer cpu would.
cee128d if u want to be technical it's more like 1b. The i7 920 came out 2 years earlier in 2008. Second iteration.
"Cmon you know it all, u know what he means"
No I don't know it all (but obviously more than he or you do) and no I don't know what he meant, only what he stated.
cee128d haha I took it out cause I knew you'd have sand in your panties over it. U should have just kept quiet about it
If you talk to non tech people which it seems like you don't, explaining second release of first generation, same architecture blah blah blah no one cares. No one cares. When you talk like that, regular people just flock to Apple.
Let 'em flock to Apple. No great loss. And it was you who brought up the second release of first gen, not me.
Im still running my i7 2600k OC @ 4.4Ghz that i got from 2011. I got 16 gb of ram and i had a gtx 580 but then upgraded to a gtx 980.
"There are not many upgrades"
*RYZEN ENTERS THE CHAT*
well, now we are here in 2024, and I have a great system with an i5 7400 and a titan xp from 2017, it runs great, and the 1080 ti and 1070 ti are great budget options
Wow I'm finding alot of similarities, to a point where it's kinda weird.
- Mine was also built in 2010.
- Was around the same price.
- Also still is my main PC now.
And the specs which are quite similar:
- i7-950
- 6GB RAM
- GTX460 (also Gigabye), replaced as well.
- 60GB OCZ Vertex SSD, problematic too.
- Cooler Master Haf-X Casing
Played SC2 as well.
Also is my most stable PC, OCZ SSD aside (they fixed it much later with firmware updates).
Only Windows7 installed till now though.
My next PC should be an Intel NUC.
Thanks for this video!
A man made a video of a 2010 video, Heres what happend to his testicles.
hahaha dude i see your persona 5 on the background on 5:37
You have the best speaking voice. I love listening to anything you have to talk about.
The funny thing is even now, 6 years later, this thing is more than usable. A simple bios update, x5675 or better xeon paired with a 1080 ti or similar graphics card, this computer would still pump out good frames even on newer games.
Ngl 1080 ti was a remarkable beast. Nothing still beats it in terms of reputation
It's so sad that I still rely and make videos on my 1.4 ghz 2014 Mac mini 🤔🤔
ReKt SoN put linux on it
InfernalShroom I have an IBM 8187 that has currently locked me out due to Windows deactivation due to graphics card removal but up till that point it's been very reliable only ever really doing one thing and that's just playing music through audacity and a bit of editing too
With a rather beasty 2.80 gigahertz Pentium 4 processor though it's not quite as gutsy as it used to be... and it only has 2 gigs of RAM to add on top of that along with Windows XP
i'm on my very special mid 2010 imac, not that bad, but yours surely is slow.
ivy bridge processors lol
8 years old and still perfrectly usable.
Imagine trying to use a 486 from 1992 in 2000 with windows 98.
i though this is something like a benchmark video turns out to a life lesson but still liked it.
You can still over clock that thing, upgrade the GPU and still have a pretty decent experience
franzb69 I mean a 970 is still pretty good imo
@@ethanieldude1 i'd say decent, i can't call it good.
You can get the next architecture on that motherboard. Xeons X5670 cost now less than 40$ and are 6core 12threads, smaller silicon, better thermals.
My buddy is still on an the first Gen i7 I built him and he still games on it..
2600k ftw :)
@@BardoggROM that's second gen
@@tristan6509 thanks for correction :) i´m out of business for a whlile ..
@@BardoggROM ok
that v8 cooler is dope af
PETR DOLEZAL I had to cut parts of my case to fit that cooler in my computer, it is a massive cooler lol
Even today, 24gb of ram is still quite a great amount. It's more than what most prebuilt PC's come with out of the factory.
Intel pentium
Intel hd 4400
But
256 GB of ram
And 5TB storage
what a masterpiece
this rig is for watching porn and stocking porn lmao

Could be a great NAS
You can open hundreds of porn videos at the same time...but you’d better take a vacation while they’re all loading up!

The problem with overwatch is that you'll be playing overwatch, regardless of the frame rate.
Good old train video from 1987. I watched that video like a year or 2 ago. Nice throwback, I appreciate it, although I was born in 2003 and didn't start remembering before 2008.
I rocked a 970 strix up until a month ago, that card refuses to die, it's in a mini gaming rig as of right now that's going to be my friends first PC
Negative179
I still stand by my calling the 970 the AK of graphics cards.
It's not that old
This hurt my feelings. My 970 works just fine for me and I don't feel that it's obsolete at all yet
@@ryanjcurran2 It's not old at all
@@ryanjcurran2 I'm still using a GTX 750 1G lol
For editing ,you should check that cuda acceleration is enabled, because my pc is worst than that and it render way faster than yours.
IMNOTA are you rendering at 1080p like his is or 720 or lower
I do 1080 and 720 depends of what I render but anyway I am pretty sure that he does not have cuda acceleration.
IMNOTA how to u enable it
You need an nvidia card and in the project settings, you will have mercury something and replace it by cuda
This PC presented to the emergency room... Old
Man, this is some quality content. Thanks for taking the time!!
