First u have an extreme self confidence Second be pretty Third u have a camera (expensive one) Fourth be fashionable Fifth cry a han river because i don't have anything that is mentioned above.
Haha thanks. I know flash isn’t for everyone but we have always love the vibrant look we can achieve with it. We do shoot natural light as well but our style definitely has evolved over the years. Thanks for watching!
If I was talking this photo without flash, my subject would be blurry at a low shutter speed or grainy at a high ISO or the models face wouldn't even be visible. But I'm new to this and still trying to understand what the heck I'm doing wrong.
A lot of people say that because they think they can't get natural looking pictures with flash. The problem is people don't take the time to learn and understand how to properly use flash to get the look they want whenever they want it, and not just to be able to shoot when the sun's out. The problem isn't with flash; it's with people and this stigma that you can't make flash look natural, which, of course, is absolute nonsense. You can tailor flash to look however you want it.
Honestly that's not really true. The quality of your portrait is first going to be largely in your lighting and how you pose your model, and then in your lens. The main value of the camera body here is just to have something that you can trigger your flashes with. If you get yourself a couple of speed lights and umbrellas, you can make very pleasing portraits with cheap or older cameras.
Not exactly true! There's a lot of videos on "Toy Camera Challenges" where they shoot with extremely bad cameras and still get awesome photos. In my opinion (as a photographer) it's all down to the composition, lighting and model's pose. Good cameras do make it look that much better, tho!
Appreciate your posing tios...they are right on time, as I have a portrait shoot this weekend for a couple of males who are NOT models and may be a little nervous, so your tips are VERY helpful! Thanks
I always love to see the model evolution, on the first shots usually they are shy and freezed, but like 50 shots after, they start to get confidence, and 10 shots later, you feel like you are connecting with them and both of you have the same feeling so everything coordinates so easy.
Extremely good instruction and support for us. My MOST challenging aspect in photography is posing. I can be walking somewhere and become stopped in my tracks by an awesome scene...I think "This would be a GREAT place to have a model pose...OMG!", then my heart sinks, because I then imagine a model actually there and she then asks me what to do with her feet...arms...hips. legs...etc. And going from a "blank canvas" of standing with arms down facing the camera to a decent pose, I am horrified. I have about 3 poses/moods to offer then that's it. Sad! But, I appreciate the video. Very helpful for posing non-pro models (as most of us work with). 👍🏽👍🏽😁
You are doing amazing by telling her what to do. A lot of people out there don’t tell the model what to do. And that help the other person to open more.
Sanchita Chatterjee late response and i’m by no means a professional lol but just pose. constantly take ur own pics. even if u feel not ur best, set your phone down, and set your phone on a video and just hit record and pose. you’ll catch your candids and also you can see what you wanna do to change the way your poses look!!
Wow I absolutely liked how creative and involved you were in the shoot. Most times, photographers automatically think that their clients know how to pose and don't help but just there to click.
THIS WAS A GREAT TUTORIAL! I am at a point in my photography where portraits are an area I'm going to start experimenting in. Been shooting land/city scapes and on occasion some portraits but never planned on doing portraits as part of my work. However family and friends have been asking if I could shoot portraits for them and yes I can see the additional income. So thanks, the tips seem fairly simple and definitely helpful. Morgan should consider modeling on the side the shots were excellent! Well done and thanks again!
I am so impressed with this. Excellent shots, just beautiful. Beautiful model, bringing out her very best, and as for the photographer, seems like just a pleasure to work with! Wishing everyone much success in all that you pursue ❤.
Best video series out there. All tips are very well spoken and thought out. The video itself isn't anything special, which actually makes it perfect. No shaky handheld, just "Here's out location" and "Here's what works for me and my thought process" Subbed and can't wait to surf the channel!
A+ for your creativity of location and poses. However, use your assistant and a good reflector to bounce some beautiful natural light into the face. The strobe light looked a little harsh in some of the shots.
hey! 5 years later.... i didnt get all the way through the shot yet but im wondering if you shot HSS, while shooting into the sun (as Morgan walked up the ramp) and then as she was sitting against the railing with the sun to her back? or did you just E-TTL or Manual shoot? okay back to watch the rest of the cool video
I came here cause when I take pictures of my friends, they really look good. But when they take a picture of me, my poses were always awkward cause I dont know how to pose. My pictures often ends up being transferred to the recycle bin
Thanks so much for watching! The flash in this video is the canon 600 flash and the canon transmitter. They work seamlessly together and are easy to connect. We will do a video on how we use our lights soon!
Your model, niece, is simply beautiful, and so is her auntie! Thank you so much for the tips! Love light and all manner of good fortune to all spirits in human form, sincerely, Lori

Really great ideas. I’m trying to get good enough to do my daughters senior pictures and I’m not always sure how to pose her. Thank you. You said your lens length. What was your aperture at?
Ok. Cool. I took her the other day with my 50 mm at 1.8 and got some great shots. I guess the 2.8 is a bit more open, so that’s why you had more background! I’m seriously a baby at this. Finally just understood what dof is! Yah! Haha! I loved the idea of the top of a parking lot! Will keep watching you guys. Do you ever use 35-85 mm?
Thats great! Our 2 go to lenses are 24-70mm and 70-200. We can just cover a wider range with those two. We have used the 50mm 1.8 that you are talking about and it is a GREAT lens. Best of luck! We will be sharing more tutorials soon. This has been a crazy busy 2 months for us so unfortunately the channel has suffered a bit but will be uploading more in the future!
It’s just so nice that you pros are helping us amateurs with all your wonderful knowledge....and free!! Thanks so much. Your model was so pretty too and I loved the ideas your wife had to pose her. Makes a frozen person look comfortable! Ha! Do you guys just do portraits or everything? Plus, you’re kinda funny! Hahaha!
Haha thanks so much! We primarily do portraits. I am getting more into the filmmaking side of things and kirby is handling all of the photography. We help businesses create content for social media.
This is going to sound like the most stupid question but I'm getting into photography a lot can you do a video just about the basics of a camera.. I know that sounds silly but most people start talking right away as if I know what the shutter speed and the aperture is. Frances Marie same😭
Frances Marie the same😥😥😥
Frances Marie funny thing is, none of this is necessary as a model or a photographer if you are trying to have fun
Billium Kj I see.
Frances Marie you need therapy
I love the way she waits around so quiet and patiently!
How about a video about posing yourself when the photographer is your camera with a tripod? 😂 those kinds of tips would be so helpful
Anna P so trueeeee lol
TRUE OMG HAHA
Watch Sorelle Amore! ✨
You are really talented! Thanks for this video. ☀️
Thank you for the kind words!
"Does that jacket have pockets?" GIRL I LOVE YOUR WAY OF THINKING
First, you need to have a person who knows how to take shots like that
Not a fan of flash at all but I can't deny that these picture turned out really really great.
Haha thanks. I know flash isn’t for everyone but we have always love the vibrant look we can achieve with it. We do shoot natural light as well but our style definitely has evolved over the years. Thanks for watching!

🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
i think a good camera plays a big part in this.... anyone can look like a model with a great photographer and great camera
lhee yan exactly
If your goal is to become a photographer you'll eventually need a camera, and the quality of the material definitely plays a big part.
1000 agree
Honestly that's not really true. The quality of your portrait is first going to be largely in your lighting and how you pose your model, and then in your lens.

After seeing I just want to be photographed by you 😭😭 seriously you have done amazing job
Thank you!
Appreciate your posing tios...they are right on time, as I have a portrait shoot this weekend for a couple of males who are NOT models and may be a little nervous, so your tips are VERY helpful! Thanks
my god. i love the poses and results. need more of these
Thanks!! Much more to come!

Posing can definitely be intimidating but just try and see how the models stands and walks naturally and play off of that.
You are doing amazing by telling her what to do. A lot of people out there don’t tell the model what to do. And that help the other person to open more.
i need an awesome photographer like you in my life.. all the shots you took came out beautiful and effortless
I’m thankful for finding this video/channel, my photography is about to take a big turn for the best 😁

Same goes to me 😭😭
You should tell click candid photos
Same with me
What a awesome cameralady ? 👍📸 All the three people were amazing 👍.
Wow I absolutely liked how creative and involved you were in the shoot. Most times, photographers automatically think that their clients know how to pose and don't help but just there to click.
It helps the photo shoot over all. If the subject is comfortable it shows through in the photos.

Welcome to the fam!
Great photos! And quick question. How do you connect the huge post or flash whatever it’s called to the camera?
Thanks so much for watching! The flash in this video is the canon 600 flash and the canon transmitter. They work seamlessly together and are easy to connect. We will do a video on how we use our lights soon!

Just stumbled on your video. I loved it. Thanks for the great work!
Your model is a natural, and great posing.
It’s helps me much!! Thank u so much. Could u suggest me a good camera ?
This is great. I think my favorite shots are candids when I’m not paying attention.
you really know how to work with light! very talented.
Can you tell me that flash set up. Im brand new but id love to try that! I like how you can adjust it and move it
Hey there! We are using the canon600 flash with a westcott rapid box! You can find links to most of it in our bio! Thanks for watching!
That's awesome and very simplified and easy to adopt.👍
Glad it was helpful!
OMG!😍 You really good in taking pictures😍 you're now one of my favorite Vlogger😊
wow that means so much! Thank you for your support!
Gorgeous photos of a gorgeous girl! 😄
Any idea why I cannot stand artificial lighting? Just taste? I absolutely love the roundoff in the shadow and highlight howver
Really loving the pictures you guys made!
Thanks so much!
Amazing photos captured.. did u also do post processing? If yes if theres any tutorial on it?
Your model, niece, is simply beautiful, and so is her auntie! Thank you so much for the tips! Love light and all manner of good fortune to all spirits in human form, sincerely, Lori
australopithecusss beautiful blessing, thanks! 😄💖🌎
Awesome.. so what is all the gear you are using?
1. Make your model vibe
2. Defy symmetry to make things more vibey
3. Give them an action to amplify vibe
4. Make them fake expression to enhance vibe
V I B E
OMG you're so good!!! I wish you'd give personal lessons on poses
I just realized that portrait sessions are like dances. The photographer is the guy leading and the model follows the lead.
Just watching this to personally learn how to pose when people take pics of me lol
Cool vid. How did you focus on her for the moving shots?
*Normal people*
but that is still not me :/
Why ruining such beautiful golden light with a flash?
Elizaveta Soldatenko to bring out that beautiful golden light!
Justin Betancourt a simple reflector could be helpful
You dont always have help, to hold reflectors or props. Then you have the wind factors, to keep in mind. Great job!
I don't get that either, but then again I just don't like flash and find that it ruins the picture most of the time
It’s not “flash” it’s fill light, especially important during sunsets because shadows and backlighting
Thanks so much for a refreshing, direct tutorial!
These shots are amazing! Thank you x
WHAT...? Morgan is not a model, seriously ? Well... from now on, she HAS TO be a model.
Soooooo talented !
The tongue twisters in the beginning lol
@Kirby loved your neck piece. Can you please let me know where did you get this from?
This was very helpful thanks for the tips
What tool do you use to get the camera to flash once you shoot your pictures? Is that just a feature with the rapid box?
Great tutorial ! Thanks a million !
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
What about those with very short hair? No hair movement trick to use.
Really great ideas. I’m trying to get good enough to do my daughters senior pictures and I’m not always sure how to pose her. Thank you. You said your lens length. What was your aperture at?
Thats great! We try to shoot at 2.8 most of the time.
Ok.
The best I've seen so far
awesome tips & pictures.......👍👍👍👍👍👍👌☺️😊😊😊😊😊
This is going to sound like the most stupid question but I'm getting into photography a lot can you do a video just about the basics of a camera.. I know that sounds silly but most people start talking right away as if I know what the shutter speed and the aperture is. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing it's something that I wanted to get into and try out. But I'm finding I'm getting super confused reading the manual. Is there any way you can help? I have a Canon 77d
Not a stupid question at all! We would love to make a video in the future going over the basics of camera functions. We will definitely add it to our list of videos to create in the future. Stay tuned..
Oh my gosh I wish u were my photographer !! Ur seriously so awesome ! 😭🙌🏼❤️
Oh man! These are great tips and wonderful inspiration. Thanks!
What kind of light are you using? I'm working into this kind of shooting and that looks like a nice simple setup.
