      Yes, it sure did take me some time, but I wanted to do the best job I could. And it was already very clean from being at my friend Joe's to be checked over, so it seemed like the perfect time to tackle it. Thanks for supporting me and my channel, my good friend.

      @@SoybeanFarmer3300 We started at 53 degrees this morning and going up into the low eighty's and low humidity. Was up making adjustments on the 4400 earlier. My wife and I are going to a concert tonight. Tomorrow I'll finish getting the 4400 switched over for corn. Was helping 2 different neighbors with round bales yesterday - video to come either tonight or tomorrow (internet is slow for upload).

    It looks great Charlie! Original ones are nice, but so are painted ones. You gotta do what makes you happy. Or what makes the wife happy. Actually, just stick with the wife one and things will go much smoother.

    I was one of the ones who said leave it in it's working clothes, but as you said it is your choice Charlie. When you found out it wasn't original paint, then I'd have done the same as you. Fact is what anyone decides to do with their tractor is up to them. You made her proud, she's a fine looking tractor and you are to be congratulated for those efforts sir.

    Oh well that was interesting to find out it’s been painted before but I was an extremely good find the tractor and I’m glad it’s in somebody’s hands I loved it and I think it looks wonderful now that it’s been repainted and I’m sure you’re gonna have very many years of enjoyment with it

    • @pagrainfarmer
      @pagrainfarmer  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much. I also feel that it was a great find. Joe told me he hadn't seen a 66 in this kind of mechanical condition and with good sheet metal in over 30 years. I'm pleased with my purchase and hope to be using it for a long time.

    Oliver looks good. I doubt many of these old tractors over their 50-60 years of existence haven’t seen paint at some point. I’m on the fence with my Farmall 350. My wallet and old school in me says no paint - keep the work clothes, but a new paint job on a old tractor like that (and your Oliver) makes me think how things looked back in the day when these tractors were new. Shinny green or red paint on a farm back in the day must have been a great sight to behold. The paint side of me says that same visual would be great to see again today... Good video...👍

    • @pagrainfarmer
      @pagrainfarmer  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for your kind words. You know I'm an Oliver guy, but I think those 350's and 450's look really sharp with their white fronts against the red of the rest of the tractor. I definitely think they look nice going through the fields all painted up. Like one viewer pointed out, it's also for protection of the sheet metal parts. However, it's every tractor owner's prerogative to choose whether to paint or not. So what ever you decide is the right decision for you.

  • @Rollinghillsfarmsmn

    Love the look. Paint isn’t just for looks; it’s a metal preservative and period-correct preservation of a classic tractor is always a plus. Now the paint reflects the mechanical condition. Nice job.

    Hey Charlie thanks for another great video! I was on board with leaving it original and not painting it, however like you I assumed that it was wearing its original paint, if it had already been painted at least once I'd say you definitely did the right thing, looks great!

      @@pagrainfarmer it goes into a deeper problem in our society where people actually think someone else is responsible for their hurt feelings but I digress. If you did the paint job you did a nice job. I've got a 46 John Deere B that years ago was painted with a brush which made it last much longer which is why we paint things to begin with.
