Hello Cathy 👋 what a surprise tonight 😊 thank you for sharing your video I love the to Winsor&Newton colours you used and I I think the leaves you added look great stay safe and be careful 🙏 💌 🎨🖌️✍️
Hi Cathy. Thank you for another great video. Even at 1:00 -1:10 on the video you had a really powerful and effective image that was both stark and yet so beautiful... and that was only the beginning. A superb colour combination... and good result. Thank you again. Colin. :)
Summer Sun 575 Thank you Colin! I agree! The marks made my heart skip a beat when I made them. I worked hard to catch this painting on canvas today! It was a struggle, and not sure if it’s finished yet either! I posted it on instagram if you want to see it. instagram.com/p/B_-ZI2aHLni/?igshid=1dvu76pgkmtcg
@@CathyMevik. Hi Cathy. I've looked at the canvas and it really has something special about it. A great three dimensional effect as a result of several contrasts in tonal quality. Very good linework... and I love the white marks which work so well. Personally I think that you would need to go very carefully if you feel you should do more with this painting because it is so good at this stage. For me I would leave it. But it's your artwork and the choice is yours. Colin. :)
Thank you for your generosity, it is wonderful to see your process. It is inspirational for us budding artists. Watching, I know I must trust the process of creating freely. Where can you buy such fine white paint in a vessel like yours?
First i have come across your video . Love the comb of the art mix art is great . So inspiering ..thanx for sharing..did you prepered the page with gesso before the Acrylic paints ?
Hi Cathy, love your videos! I want to start using a sketchbook for painting ideas, can you tell me what kind you like to use? Is this watercolor paper?
Thank you Lyndie. ❤ I don't like the texture or thickness of watercolor paper, so my journals have rather poor quailty paper. Most of them have 130 and 140 gsm paper. As long as I use gesso on the pages before I start painting, I have no problems at all. You really just need to try different papers and see what you like yourself. At least that's what I had to do.
Dear Cathy, what is the diference inbetween the brands of the pastel Companies ? Since i am complitely new to this kind of art i see some brands like Kohinor, lyra, and ofcourse the really expansive ones like schminke Rembrandt etc.. are the first one i have mentioned be good and enough for me ? What is your opinien if you plz .. thank you
Hi Gila. As a beginner you might not know what you like and don't like, so if you are unsure, just by some loose pastels. I would go for the high quality ones, and build my supplies if it turns out you like them.
These are cheap brushes that I bought at "Søstrene Grene". A danish company that has stores in Europe. sostrenegrene.com/fi/products/painting/paintbrush-p-1c6de001
Head over to my instagram page to see how I recreated this on canvas.

Hi Mel! Do a search for fineline applicator and you should find them quite easily. Buy the one with the blue label. ;)

Hi, I am in awe! I just walked into this medium and your videos. What colors/materials did you use?
Thanks Leslie. Everything I used comes up as text in the video. 💗
Salut Catherine, peux tu me dire si tu utilises ARYL or OIL painting? Et les pastels, dry or not? Merci à toi

Thank you so much. Glad you like my channel. I do prep my pages with gesso beforehand. 💙🎨🌷
Hi Cathy, when you re-created this one on canvas, did you use pastels and if so how did you fix?
I did use pastels and fixated it with fixative for oil and acrylic. 💗
Ok Cathy merci🦚

What pastels were you using and what was that oil stick you were using?
If you let me know where in the video to look, I'll let you know. ;)
@@CathyMevik -4.51 for the brown pastel and -2.42 for the white oil stick. Thank you! ❤❤❤
@@rainbarber7657 2:42 is charcoal and at 4:51 I am using a palette knife. But if you want to know what the brown is, it's dry pastel. ;)
