Decided to only double the speed on this one, and with alot of editing I was able to get it down to about 20 minutes. I guess I wanted to let you all see that it doesn't always come easy. As always your feedback is appreciated.
@@CathyMevik yes of course. I realized this as soon as I had posted this comment, haha. Thank you for humoring my silliness, Cathy. Love your work and authenticity so so much!!
Bless you & thank you. Really like the vibrant yellow. Funny how we are so dissatisfied with what we are painting & then as you have done end up with an inspiring painting. Love the use of plastic, I am going to try that. Abstract is new to me & I am loving the freedom of it. What fun & learning I had watching. 🙏👏🖌🎨👩🎨🌈🥳
This encourages me to keep persevering and to try something new when things aren't working out. This suddenly felt right when you used that rich dark red. I love that you kept that white smudgy area over the black near the centre of the painting.
Hi Kathy, I’ve just discovered your wonderful site. I really appreciate you sharing the techniques and the whole process you go through. I’m relatively new to abstraction, doing a course last year really opened my mind. As you say things don’t come easy and I admire your tenacity. Thank you for being so generous, this piece is amazing.
Thank you Pat. I'm so glad you enjoy my videos and that you like my work. Have a wonderful journey with your abstracts, and let me know if there is anything I can help you with!
Watching this has lifted my spirits, what a super video to take my mind off everything that’s happening right now. Thank you Cathy, it’s made me feel so much better
Enjoyed watching so very much and even got a giggle with your small brush comments! And it's so helpful to see you work through what you didn't like and end up with a fantastic painting. Thank you for this :)
I really appreciate the captions explaining your thought process. I have to admit I don’t understand “intuitive” painting, but I guess I understand the need for the process. I suppose being a type A, left brainer, is why every time I try to do this I end up throwing the whole thing across the room. I am committed to learning to use the right side of my brain though, even if it kills me! Lol. Just discovered your channel and looking forward to binge watching. Thank you.
Yes I do, Aino. Most of my journals have paper that is way to thin to paint on. And this journal has cardstock pages. ;) So that first layer of gesso helps alot.
Hello Cathy 👋 thank you for sharing this video today 💌😊 I just love how your brush strokes look so soft what is your secret??? hope your staying safe and careful too 🙏 🎨🖌️😊💌
Hey Cathy, you said you prefer thin paper...so you don’t ever work wet? My roots are in watercolor....which make me a bit of a paper snob LOL. You don’t like the heavier papers? Why? What about watercolor paper journals? Right now I’ve got a mixed media journal and I keep wishing the pages were thicker. I’ve never been a journal user because of my affinity for good paper
I do work wet. As long as I gesso my pages it seems to work fine for me. But remember paper is a preference, just like any other art supply. And you always want to work with supplies that excite YOU! ⭐🌈🎨
Enjoy!
The black shape looks like a wolf. Love watching the process. Turned out great. Bravo!!!💕🐞✂️💕

Did you allow it to dry in between warm and cool colors?
@@SingYourselfWell There are only warm colors in this painting so no need to worry about mixing dirty colors. ;)
@@CathyMevik yes of course. I realized this as soon as I had posted this comment, haha. Thank you for humoring my silliness, Cathy. Love your work and authenticity so so much!!
Thank you that was so interesting to watch the process. It is beautiful. Thank you also for your generosity.
You are so welcome! So glad you enjoyed it. ❤️

Thanks Melanie. Glad you found it helpful and that it was fun to watch!
Before the collage, the black part looked like a unicorn!
Haha! I had to go back and look. And yes it does. ;)
Yes, I like the Finger tool part so much ✌👌🖐👈👉👐
Hehe.. Nice! 💜

Thank you so much Betty. Glad you found me.
Oh God, you are soooooo cute, Cathy. Thank you soooo much for this, and your frustrated running commentary! I feel less alone....
Haha.. Thank you so much, and you are so welcome! Thanks for making me smile! 🥰
Beautiful work 👌👏
Thank you Wenche, or can i say "Tusen takk"? 💜

Thanks for you wonderful comment Kim.
So enjoy watching you paint! Always inspiring! Do you gesso your pages first?
Yes I do, Aino. Most of my journals have paper that is way to thin to paint on. And this journal has cardstock pages. ;) So that first layer of gesso helps alot.
What is the bottle with the pokey thing attached? Where do I find this magical tool?
Haha! That magical tool is called a fineline applicator. If you do a google search you should find one quite easy. 😊
I’m curious about the squeeze bottles for drawing the beautiful fine lines .....!? Where did you get them?
Just do a search for fine line applicaor and you should find a webshop that has them.
What brushes are you using Cathy? And is it acrylic paint?
That is a very inexpensive brush I bought in a local store. All my work is in acrylics. ;)
Hello Cathy 👋 thank you for sharing this video today 💌😊 I just love how your brush strokes look so soft what is your secret??? hope your staying safe and careful too 🙏 🎨🖌️😊💌
Linda, I have no idea what my secret is. :) I do alot of dry brushing. Could that be it?
@@CathyMevik so glad you are staying safe 🙏 when you say dry brushing ? I'm not sure what you mean by that🖌️
Of course my problem is the opposite one: I love to use large brushes. Which means my canvas is covered in about 0.7 seconds. BAHAHAHA.
Oh, that makes 2 of us, but in my journal that wouldn't work very well. lol
@@CathyMevik you kidding? It would work REALLY well. You've be done in 0.3 seconds FLAT! BAHAHAHA. ...
👍👏😍🍀🤗
Thank you so much! 🧡

PLEASE TELL WHAT THE BOTTLE IS WITH FINE NEEDLE
That would be a fine line applicator. Just google it and you should find one quite easily!

What kind of brushes do you use??
I use synthetic brushes Carla. ;)
