I look forward to doing this on master mode whenever this mission rotates around.
This is from Savathun’s perspective 3:28 all those millennia of conquering and tearing through universes only to be told that it was lie a deception I felt sad Savathun
For me the imposing beginning of the song turns to a sad and desperate rythm, it seems to me like she knows that all she had done will matter not more since shes more fighting to live, you can feel that the boss is alive and don't want the same fate all her relatives had, she wants to live
4:32 when this plays at the end of a Psiops mission it really does feel like a *"tagged and bagged"/"Caught your ass"* thing when you capture a Lucent Hive.
At 4:21 you can JUST BARELY hear the original D2 Inner Light theme. Kinda sad they didn't use it in the major musical moments when the campaign/raid is most intense
Stroy wise, we could interpret the Inner Light theme falling into the background as an indicator of the darkening reality growing around our Guardian. Notice how in boss battles past, Inner Light is at the front of the orchestra; however, here, it is underneath everything, in the background now. The winds of the universe are slowly turning away from the glory of the Light.
Went through the whole campaing solo legend, it was a blast, entertainingly difficult. Then came this final fight. First time in almost 8 years of Destiny, I didn't feel energetic nor exhausted, I was moved. This fight was the culmination of all these years and the music made it clear. There were so many emotions that only legend difficulty could valorize
This track fits well with this fight as its chaotic much like the fight it self, i enjoyed listening to it as i dodged knives, blackholes and giant lightning bolts
Definitely agree, but oh dear lord Savathun's flame barrages. I main "Oops! All Knives" when playing solar Hunter, and it felt so satisfying to hear the super activate sound, and step behind a pillar. Like me in my blueberry ways, she missed alll of her knives. Her arc super though? I was a lightning rod for most of that fight. Could've ran Riskrunner non-stop if I wanted to.
I do love that bit onwards as well, but don't forget about that magnificent build up from 2:26 to 3:25. It was the perfect set up for both the build up the song as it reached the cllimax of the ost, and as the song raced steamed on ahead to its grand finale.
I truly love this track that felt like the 5 years of building up Savathun has lead to this moment. The first half was all Savathun's might and onslaught on the guardians, then the swelling of the guardian theme representing the resilience of what we became, and the final piece in which the revelation has hit Savathun, that even the God of Cunning and Lies can be lied to as well. Leading to the fall of the Witch Queen, but also a rise of an even greater threat. Superb performance.
when you realised that we used strand in a way to defeat Savathun by getting a buff called Thread Cutters and defeated hive wizards called Threadweavers
I have a massive problem with this DLC, and it's the fact that Me and the boys are literally unable to experience this story for the first time again. Not since Last wish have I felt that way. This DLC easily rests alongside Forsaken and Rise of Iron as best in the series, but if the raid is one od the greats, much like the raids in the other aforementioned dlcs, then I think the witch queen is in it's own tier of quality.
Tomorrow will be the deciding day. Either way I also feel the same experiencing it for the first time is always the best and agree that it lies with forsaken to me
@@adamboy0559 I'll keep that same energy and say the launch of the raid wasn't the best, but the raid itself is literally the best since Last Wish in my eyes, if not better. I won't say much about the encounters because it really is something you need to experience. Verdict: Yep, best DLC ever
This man said Forsaken and Rise of Iron like The Taken King doesn't exist. Foreshame. Witch Queen is the only expansion to ever surpass TTK. RoI and Forsaken were good, but not TTK good.
@@noxfortuna1391 Forsaken literally had more content (and a raid which was miles better), and for me RoI was more consistent. Besides, are we gonna ignore the content drought after Hard mode Kings Fall was beaten? You know, the almost half a gear long Content drought?
@@bepisaxe4464 Forsaken benefited from being the first expansion with seasonal content. That's like comparing apples to oranges. TTK was leagues better storywise and the Dreadnought was a massive location compared to the Tangled Shore and Dreaming city. Also the entire first year of Destiny 2 was a content drought so you can't go there.
Didn't notice that until now. Tbh, this song is a great big mosh pit of new and old themes. A brilliant, amazing, final-boss-fight worthy great big mosh pit of new and old themes across Destiny's history, all rolled up in a stunning piece of music.

This boss fight felt like an actaull boss fight. You start out thinking "oh well this is just going to be a simple one phase" but It blows your expectations by adding phases. As you progress you realise that you are powerless due to the spell on the travler. You unwind the webs and now savathun is weakened. But the fight is not over. You now have to slay the three witches and enter the dome to battle the goddess of trickery and cunning. This is what a boss fight is suppose to be. Not simply killing some mindless Ai but progressing against a worthy foe until she or he is beaten. Well done bungie, keep it up by making your game what it was meant to be.

Savathun did nothing wrong. She wanted to protect the traveler just like any other gaurdian. She wanted to protect it from the witness, seal it away in her throne world so no threat could take it. In a way, humanity is gatekeeping the light
she was doing it for her own selfish means. She didn’t want to be bound by the worms hunger, but she wanted power. The only reason she was protecting/trapping the traveler was because she wanted it for herself.
To say she didn’t do anything wrong is very inaccurate. Her intentions may have been to keep the traveler safe but her methods of doing so were the problem. Sure humanity may be gatekeeping the Traveler but what would you do to protect that which gives you God-like powers and immortality? If this entity entered your atmosphere and bestowed life to your planet, increasing lifespans, forwarding technological advances, bringing about a “Golden Age” not just to your planet but your entire solar system. Wouldn’t you fight for that?
I gave up on this fight on Legendary after dying probably hundreds of times and just went through it on Normal, but I went back and finished it on Legendary afterward (Even then I just slowly picked away at her with Thread Cutter x2 and Osteo Striga because the wizards and additional ads wouldn’t really spawn). I honestly kinda forgot Ikora was in the Tower, too, so by the time I realized that was where you picked up your 1520 gear if you didn’t finish the campaign on Legendary during your first playthrough, I had already gotten everything but my chestpiece to 1520+. Savathun had to have one final trick up her sleeve, didn’t she?
I have an idea for a raid perhaps for Lightfall or something. So basically the enemy theme will be taken all the way why I'm commenting on this video I don't know. Basically this raid will take place everywhere and no where at the same time, we start with the original tower where it is consumed by taken energy and blights everywhere you clear the way searching for an answer to how the tower is back. You find a room about the size of Savathun's final boss area where you see Oryx? Impossible he can't be back he was dead, or was he a illusion? No he was real alright and he was plotting something big he was channeling sword logic powerful magic he then disappears and you search hard to find him. you find him after going to a HUGE room split into sections sort of like the Sanctified Minds room after that Oryx appearance room and you have to fight waves of taken, the mechanic for this encounter would be too use taken essence you got from killing knights to go into a portal that leads you to a new section of the room like the Sanctified Mind battle and kill the Taken Projections that are copy's of powerful enemy's such as a captain, ogre etc that reside in the rooms in order to lift a de-buff called Taken Reprint if that de-buff gets to 55x you die and a Projection Of Oryx is created a powerful foe strong enough to one shot. After you get rid of all the de-buffs by killing all the Taken Projections in all 6 rooms you the encounter ends and you push to a new are The Dreadnought where is won't be shown for long as it is only a jumping puzzle in order to make it to the front of the ship where a new portal resides. It takes you to the gate to The Vault Of Glass? Where you once again see Oryx channeling Sword logic but this time he is mixing it with taken essence and then he absorbs it and vanishes.. Here is where your first boss happens Unitus, The Inspired. Unitus is a enemy that is mixed with all enemy's he is Cabal, Vex, Fallen and a new Darkness enemy type mixed together with taken essence. You start the encounter by going up to Unitus challenging him, the encounter starts with Unitus waving his 6 hands in the air, teleporting 3 guardians to Atheon's boss room where they have to clear adds to stop them from interacting with confluxes and wiping the team. Where the other 3 guardians have to weaken Unitus's Shield by killing knights that drop Taken Essence, you can only shoot 10 times with the essence. After shooting Unitus's shield 30 times it breaks thus creating a damage phase and teleporting those 3 guardians that got teleported. you do that until he dies with the final stand being he creates loads more adds and Taken Ogres. You kill Unitus this deformed boss and carry on to a portal that opens and brings you to The Leviathan Pleasure Garden? Where once again Oryx is channeling magic and making this new monstrosity... He teleports away like usual and leaves behind a sword, one of the guardians must pick up the sword for the entire encounter. When you pick up the sword it starts the encounter, The guardian with the sword gets teleported away to where you killed Val Ca'uor in spire of starts, that guardian must then trigger a portal that takes them back to the Pleasure Gardens by killing a Portal Keeper and then going back to the Garden where the other 5 guardians are killing Taken Projections once again to get rid of the de-buff. The guardian with the sword must then stab it into a whole to end the encounter while millions of adds try to stop them, once they deposit the sword the encounter stops and you continue on the way to Oryx where the you see him in the Black Garden where you killed the Black Heart in Destiny 1. But he's not running anymore he stays and you need to defeat him. You start by walking up to him, the sword spawns once again and the Taken Essence is back for 2 guardians to pick up. Whoever picks up the sword teleports to the Sanctified Minds boss arena and must open the portal by killing 2 Portal Keepers. You kill one in the red portal just like the Sanctified Minds battle where you open the portal by shooting his crit spots, but they are already open so the Sword Bearer can just go in and kill the Gate Keepers while the guardians back at the Black Heart must kill Knights that drop Taken Essance to weaken Oryx's Shield and the Sword Bearer comes back to use the sword to break his shield and do damage. His final stand is a TRUE FINAL STAND where he absorbs your light and the darkness around him making him MUNERE ORYX, THE REBORN KING. ORYX starts rushing the guardians. The sword bearer is now teleported back to the og tower where they must fight adds and ogres that try to stop them from going back to the portal BACK TO THE BLACK GARDEN... While the other guadians use the Taken essance to not break ORYX'S Shield but to break the shield of the Taken Captains and Knights that drops Taken Bombs to throw at ORYX. The Sword Bearer teleports back to help deplete the shield with the sword and ORYX'S Shield is broken once again starting damage but he starts rushing whoever he's looking at and 1 SHOTTING THEM! Of you do enough damage in a 15 MINUTE PERIOD You KILL ORYX FOR REAL THIS TME!.. But if not then you wipe having to start the battle once again.... But umm yea why i wrote this i have no fucking clue im 13 btw so that's why the writing is so bad ;-:

This is from Savathun’s perspective 3:28 all those millennia of conquering and tearing through universes only to be told that it was lie a deception
I felt sad Savathun
That doesnt even make sense. There is nothing in the music that hints that.

For me the imposing beginning of the song turns to a sad and desperate rythm, it seems to me like she knows that all she had done will matter not more since shes more fighting to live, you can feel that the boss is alive and don't want the same fate all her relatives had, she wants to live
"So now you want to play games? Then let's play." That gave me chills.
4:32 when this plays at the end of a Psiops mission it really does feel like a *"tagged and bagged"/"Caught your ass"* thing when you capture a Lucent Hive.
4:07 hearing my two favourite themes so close together was so damn cool in game.
I thought i heard the rise of iron music for a split second
@@Gatita0318 its call to arms from shadowkeep motif
At 4:21 you can JUST BARELY hear the original D2 Inner Light theme. Kinda sad they didn't use it in the major musical moments when the campaign/raid is most intense
I really wish the inner light theme got used more often than it does these days, I super agree
I remember a similar version playing during an adventure on Mercury, where you go to the simulant past fighting off waves of Hive.
3:25 hands down the best part, it made me cry.
I do love that bit onwards as well, but don't forget about that magnificent build up from 2:26 to 3:25. It was the perfect set up for both the build up the song as it reached the cllimax of the ost, and as the song raced steamed on ahead to its grand finale.
the Call To Arms at 4:08 leading into Inner Light is just 🤌
Thank you. I was wondering where I heard the first one. It played a lot in orbit back when Shadowkeep was still the latest dlc.
Such a fantastic campaign, in literally every aspect. Soundtrack, scale, gameplay, lore. This piece is so good
Except the part when Bungie reconned the Hive story. Doesnt quite add up to me.
when you realised that we used strand in a way to defeat Savathun by getting a buff called Thread Cutters and defeated hive wizards called Threadweavers
And we were using darkness to show memory's which is strand
Me and my friend when first doing this boss fight were pumped with the music
"The Ritual" Mission:
"Savathûn, the Witch Queen"
0:00 Phase 4
2:27 Phase 3/ 1st Reflection
3:08 Phase 4
4:08 30% Health Remaining
4:34 End
Still can't believe 7 and a half years built up to killing Savathûn. I'm still amazed by that fight
4:22 Ayo is that a piece of Inner Light?
Didn't notice that until now. Tbh, this song is a great big mosh pit of new and old themes. A brilliant, amazing, final-boss-fight worthy great big mosh pit of new and old themes across Destiny's history, all rolled up in a stunning piece of music.
i find it hilarious that rhulk tries to jump in at the start but then savathun is like “nope, my soundtrack!”
and that’s how big moth lady imprisoned skinny red man in a temple till since average joes came in and said bye bye
6*
literally a dungeon boss. Perfect.
Regicied/ Last Stand played next to this sound so so similar i love it
Going through solo legendary and fighting Savathun with this soundtrack going felt amazing, nice work Bungie!
GREAT CAMPAIGN !!!
That moment when savathun gains near invincibility and you panic for three minutes because the mirror didn’t spawn and you have no idea what’s going on
Ngl first time doing it was so good. You had no idea what was happening the whole time till it happened
I wonder if it’s possible to kill her in that form, and what even happens then? Without the memory being revealed the cutscene doesn’t make sense.
All this time we were telling her who she was. She valued her past over her enemy’s. A fatal mistake. Who she should have studied was you, godslayer.
4:07-4:20
This right here...them horns hit different
Yo, that "Call to Arms" quote at 4:07!!!!
Love that part so much
2:30 best part
have this stuck in my head
Our guardian after Savathun drops dead: “2 down, 1 sister to go. “
Soloed it on legendary, enjoyed the challenge. Promptly played it again three player coop with my friends, we spent up until the wee hours of the morning listening to this theme.
Listening to this while filling savathun with bullets made this a wonderful experience, I wanna do the boss a 2nd time just for this music
broooo same, this felt like a real boss fight
I love this campaigns soundtrack. One of the best parts of this for me is 2:05
Savathun is the only reason why the Witness don't have attck more quikly....now its lightfall.
For sure my favorite boss fight in the game so far. I could not have asked for a better final duel with our nemesis of five years.
I made this fight even harder for myself than it would’ve been just so I could have Ace of Spades equipped during Savathûn’s defeat
I still cant believe I took down Savathun on Master Solo using Ace of Spades. Took me over 4 hours.
0:15 "You think you can lie to me? _Me?_ The queen of lies, deception, deceit? How dare you! You want to play games? Let's _play._ "
Just beat her on legendary today with a friend, and damn it was so much fun. Got her to a sliver of health on the first go, and got nova bombed lol. Minus a few spots in the campaign, it was very fun on higher difficulty. Bring on The Witness and his fleet, I'll turn them into guns too!
The Light’s Motif at 2:16 and 3:28 tho like DAMN
Did the whole campaign on my hunter on legendary eith ace from start to finish when thread cutter came up I cried cause I thought it was hidden detail I was in pain and motivated
4:34 i love that when you defeat savathun. Very triumphant after a lovely legendary campaign
This is incredible
Me and my dad two-manned this, im a new player and ive only been playing for a month haha
Listening to this track is like taking an audible trip through the history of Destiny. Especially at 2:15 From being a new light in the Cosmodrome, to slaying the Hive God of Cunning, and everything in between
This, and Last Stand/Regicide. I wonder of Xivu's will be as good(And contrast the two as they do each other)
Brings me back to the oryx fight.
Amazing work yall
this hits hard
00:19 - 00:34 is insane
3:42 My god
4:09 my favorite part of the song hands down.
IKR , gave me chills when doing legendary campaign solo , hearing that during mid boss fight.. just damn.
Who else wielded Ace of Spades for the final blow? (since Uldren’s corruption is linked back to Savathun?)
Nope, the first time i killed Savathun i wielded a sniper, i forgot which one (I was doing it in Legendary), Dead Man's Tale and Perfected Outbreak in the other ones. I have Ace of Spades saved for the next time i try it on Legendary, and then i will not be alone, two friends will come with me.
I finished her off with Deathbringer my first time. The primary and special I had on were Chroma Rush and Enigma.
I love how some of this is a retool of Regicide
my favorite ost the witch queen
Wait till u hear the raid one
This song goes hard 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Savathun: "Go on, then. You know so much? Tell me who I am!"
Me, reloading Gjallarhorn: "You're just the latest in a long line of assholes who are going to die for Cayde-6's death!"
3:30 - 4:20
If I'm ever fighting aliens in space ima be cranking this
Defiantly Savathûn’s theme song
Definitely*
No
No, Savathûn’s theme has a certain leitmotif this one lacks.
Isn't that Calus's leitmotifs at the beginning?
Edit: Yeah, sounds like there's a lot of strings pulled from the Leviathan.
@@monkeyr2910 boy were you wrong
Sounds weird to not hear Savathun grunting during this
This one is the final boss on final phase in The Ritual mission
Epic fight along with masterpiece ost ty bungoooo.
imagine if this and Regicide collided into one
The music is dope
I would play this during the final battle in Fable 3
Savathun made one critical mistake... assuming that I, the player, actually care about the Light and the Dark
I make gun go pew pew, that is all
Remember, Savathun uses supers as her basic attacks
Theme of getting one tapped by electric balls
Vicious Light and Stormtrance were the most terrifying attacks known to man in this fight
Now all we’re missing is Xivu
I’m surprised no one has remixed this with Regicide yet.
After a long fight i defeated her on Day 1 on my Hunter. After that i've carried my friends with mine experience. One of my friends sit with Savathun for an HOUR and called me for help. And i saved him. That was one of that times when i can call myself as Guardian.
Remember when we thought this was calus’ raid theme?
The bell tolls for the end of Earth
An eons worth of threads and schemes
To stand before the light of the Traveler
Upon the crucible inlet which it all began
And Witness to the shadow of truth
Reflected through the mirror glass
Finally dawns Witch Queen's Reign
“No concession? How stupid do you think I am? You and your siblings, you killed my friends! I remember Crota and the Great Disaster! I remember Oryx and the Taken War! You continue the curse of the Dreaming City and the suffering of the Awokens! Your plan with the Endless Night! And never will I forgive you for what you done Sagira and Osiris!
I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN TO HELP THE HIVE!!
Savathun did nothing wrong. She wanted to protect the traveler just like any other gaurdian. She wanted to protect it from the witness, seal it away in her throne world so no threat could take it. In a way, humanity is gatekeeping the light
She wanted to seal the Traveler to protect it, sure, but at the cost of humanity
Yeah, tell that to Cayde-6
she was doing it for her own selfish means. She didn’t want to be bound by the worms hunger, but she wanted power. The only reason she was protecting/trapping the traveler was because she wanted it for herself.
@@mrpancake8889 tho this is true she also knows what the witness is and that he was coming and wanted to hide from him.
3:08
Whenever I hear this I know I'm gonna get ptsd
Shame they didn't mirror the title with Regicide
I think Regicide refers to killing both a King OR a Queen, so hard to do because there is no "female" Regicide
@@VanLeatherman I'm legitimately shocked that there's no word for killing a queen specifically.
@@spartanatreyu Queenslayer?
dethroned and regicide can mean the same thing, killing a king or queen
shes to powerful!
I wonder what Xivu Arath's theme is gonna be like
I gave up on this fight on Legendary after dying probably hundreds of times and just went through it on Normal, but I went back and finished it on Legendary afterward (Even then I just slowly picked away at her with Thread Cutter x2 and Osteo Striga because the wizards and additional ads wouldn’t really spawn).
This fkin fight took me 2 hours on legendary mode
Killed her solo legendary campaign while having mild feaver because of covid 😅
Ok
