Italy is one of those places that you just know you need to visit before you die. I hope I can visit one day, it's such a beautiful place with an incredibly rich culture and history, and their love for family and for food is virtually unparalleled
August is swollen with tourists, harder to find parking spaces, although many more festivals during the July-August time, my personal recommendation is to come late May-June especially if going to the beach areas also during your vacation
I’ve been 3 X !!! Would leave tomorrow if I had someone with whom to go. Transformative experience. Incredible memories I’ll cherish the rest of my life. Ordered “The Book”. Yum. Mille grazi.
I’m an American and have spent the last three weeks traveling across your beautiful country, you are blessed to live in this wonderful and amazing place! Si, Viva l’ Italia!!
This is one of the finest travelling videos i've ever seen. It makes you delve into the rich heritage, the incredible history and the the fascinating era of the past. Besides describing the grrat heritage of this region , the two gentleman convey to us the fabulous wonders of the regions in such a lovely way and it makes us develop the sense of being there. I wish to visit this incredible land, a wordly heaven, what we presently say 'Italy'.
My first trip to Bologna was in 2017, after visiting most of Italy previously, from Australia. Fell in love with this not so touristy working city. Bologna remains my favourite Italian city and I'm from Sicilian heritage. Looking to buy a cheap place there, but ended up getting a beautiful little townhouse cheap in the Apennines in Tuscany ,from friends in Australia who were off-loading it. Not Bologna, but 50kms away so I can spend most of my time there. Dream come true for hardly much money, compared with Australia's ridiculous house prices. Living the dream next September. This show brings tears to my eyes
It's worth it. Last year, when things were still normal, I went to Venice. We arrived by boat in the morning seeing the silhouette of Venice in the mist. Nothing can beat that.
Italy & it's utterly amazing, glorious, incredible, rich history, culture & presence in the world, I have 8 words.......Formidable and exquisite and never to be underestimated!!!
...Never mind, you need not answer to my comment above ... From this you already understand that you're an idiot comprehensive total ... Probably your "engine" is just hatred and prejudice.
Love that they had an Italian Chef and an Italian Art Historian teaming up to look at food and art. Food and art are absolute gifts to the world, and I enjoy studying both Love how the Art Historian talked about his mother taking him to ten of the churches, and the two of them making scrapbooks of all the postcards, and how that was his first history lesson. So touching! :)
Questa serie è stata una delle cose più belle viste in televisione negli ultimi anni. La celebrazione dell'arte e della cucina (arte in senso maiuscolo) italiane affidate alle mani di un grande chef come Locatelli e alla cultura di A.G. Dixon.
This is the 3rd time I watched this fantastic video, the lads are so wonderful their passion for what they do really helps you to understand the region, art and food, I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
I agree that this is one of the finest travel videos that I have ever seen. I enjoy eating Italian foods and owning and driving Italian cars even though my ancestors emigrated from Japan. I also agree that American Italian food has been altered to suit American tastes and when I eat real Italian food it tastes very different. My father enjoyed the warmth of Italian people even if he was an American soldier fighting in Italy during WWII.
I like this show :) It's interesting to see a show that combines art history and food. There's also good chemistry between Andrew and Giorgio; I like their sense of humor!!!
I was able to savor every detail of this rich region of Italy, for its culture to its food, but most of all its people. Just fantastic. I hope to visit this region to experience it all. Magnifico.
I love how first Andrew gets to be the "tourguide", with Giorgio listening in amazement. Then it turns to Giorgio's terrain, and he just takes over the show.
These guys do compliment each other..bringing a wonderful exposure to the essence of Italy.. So enjoyable to have food and art expressed in such an elegant manner..bellisamo..⭐
I just so love these two guys and this is the best travel programme I have ever seen! they are so passionate and competente in their areas: cooking and art. and they have such a good interaction with great humor and openness that I am so deeply touched by - what a friendship! the whole Italy unpacked series are my favorite and has given me the last klick to head for Italy in April 2017 to start a 2 week italian course!
Siete bravissimi. I loved it very much. It brought me back in time when I was a little girl in Italy and made tagliatelle with my mother with her precious Sunday sauce.
Fun to watch this video again after moving to Emilia Romagna half a year ago :) Its pretty accurate.. the food here is amazing (to be fair its pretty amazing anywhere in Italy)
Gentleman I can’t say and thank you enough for this 1 hour absolutely wonderful video. I’ve been wanting to know more of my recent fascination with Emilia-Romagna, looking to visit soon. The two contrasting men in the video were awesome...love it so much...thank you, Gracie.
The Renaissance, mixed with the natural features of it, made Italy the most beautiful place on Earth. Though that hasn't stopped its people from having a pretty violent history..
+Foc4ccin4 ?? I don't quite understand. Are you asking if other countries do not also have violent histories? If so, then yes there are lots of countries with violent pasts. I guess pretty much ever country has a violent past. But I wasn't making the point that Italy's was necessarily more violent....Although..lol.
The chemistry between these two is wonderful~ As is their knowledge, the manner which they discuss and share it, and most distinctly to me, their personalities! Haha, like when they finished tapeing their joyride in the Ferrari 🤣 both of their own responses was just so funny and so ummm reflective I guess sort of, of their personalities (or maybe more accurately how I’ve been perceiving their personalities 😅) Nevertheless, it’s all just, wonderful! ~~~~
Marvellous video and two inspiring commentators within the art of living in Italy. One little suggestion mind you, on the final video added on names of cities and buildings visited. Thank you. It does bring back so many memories of our last visit in Italy ….an open air museum for the sake of our soul.
Sunday, December 23, 2018. So!!!, this video should be kept in the most important vaults, libraries of the Capital Cities of the World. Salut and my appreciation to these persons Chief Giorgio Locatelly and Andrew Graham-Dixon. I am your friend and friend of many.
Great documentary. Just started watching it. Italy fascinates me. Thanks for not having modern Italian-Americans star in the show and act like they belong haha
I have a coveted bottle of 1865 Balsamic Vinegar Tradicional from Modena. It has an incredible little bottle with a cork and Crest of the pope. I only open it with those who would appreciate its beauty.
As an architecture historian, I find Italy the most extraordinary country on earth. The artistic heritage is beyond comparison with any other nation.
What a load of utter crock. You are enraptured with your own enrapturement.
L'unica cosa che può migliorare l'Italia ulteriormente è smettere di lasciarla governare agli italiani.
Italy is one of those places that you just know you need to visit before you die. I hope I can visit one day, it's such a beautiful place with an incredibly rich culture and history, and their love for family and for food is virtually unparalleled
Come here while you're young and you still can (and while Italy still stands...)! You won't regret it!

sometimes the best way to apprieciate more your country is to watch it through the eyes of a foreign. Viva l'Italia.

Some DNA tests I took showed Northern Italian Ancestry mixed with Sephardic Jewish genes. :)
