I sincerely want to thank you.. Ever since I moved to Europe, you have been helpful to me. Now I tried the Akamu thing from the scratch, believe me it came out well. I really appreciate you Chi.
I am a new mom and I knew I'd see this video on your channel as my baby will soon start taking pap. This was really helpful and surprisingly it's since 8yrs ago. Thanks Flo
I tried mine with the broken corn and it came out nice since I can't find Muslin bag I improvised using a NEW pillowcase.I can now enjoy homemade Akamu :) Thanks to Flo, you are the best!!!!
Yes, we drink it with sugar and evaporated milk + Akara, Puff Puff, Fried Plantains, Fried Yams, Moi Moi etc etc. It goes well with lots of staple foods. Ahhh, we have "kunun" a Northern Nigerian drink (looks like soy milk) and it is different from this one but I see the similarity in the names. :)))
changes the like-button into the "stunning-button" Double thumbs up !!!! You are a wise woman who knows what cooking is !!! all that you share , makes me each day so much better in my own kitchen ! Best cooking ever ! I'm simply like not only amazed by your knowledge and artworks here , I'm also more happier in fact , you made it possible for me and so many folks here to not HAVE to buy packages and sacks of all kinds of things , with you cooking is fun , healthy , and most of all just more than delicious! u rock !
Aw you are adorable Flo! yup that is what I do :) , ever since I found your channel , this is like watching my favourite TV :D , sometimes I put it on repeat too LOL,just to be sure I did it right and I'm thanking u for all this delicious healthy food! Exactly what I need, difference in European and Nigerean is big! what ? huge ! simply due the fact you put a lot of work in it , the food is REAL , it is handmade while it otherwise is a storebought meal that doesn't even contain anything nutritious! And once tasted it stays in ur mind , really! Had some experience tasting it yet never made these myself but guess what I'm having on the menu ;-) !! ow yes ! Totally!!
Thumbs up for you my sister. While still in Nigeria, I remember my mum adds ginger to the corn when we soak it and then blend it together with the corn before sifting. Hmmm It's the best and I miss it. u should try that too.
Madam Flo, your video is self explanatory, simple and easy to follow. You just demystified akamu for those of us who thought it was a difficult process. I have been carrying Akamu on flights over many years. My sister just decided to try Akamu in our kitchen using your directions. I am impressed. Well done. No more excess baggage filled with Akamu.
I'm glad you find them helpful. We are in this time machine together. I was so happy when my Mum brought the muslin bags for me, they have been delaying this video! :)
I was just looking for pap recipe, my mind just said aunty flo would have it. And truly, you did not disappoint. Thank you so much for always delivering
Auntie Flo. U are awesome. This bring back some great childhood memories. I am going to downloading this video to share it with Friends and family. Oh My You are a rare Gem!
Every time I'm looking for a recipe and find that you have it I automatically feel relaxed cos I know I'm in good hands. Thanks so much Madam Flo! Your recipes have been very helpful to me...much more than you can ever imagine🙏🏽❤️ God bless you
Akamu/Ogi/Pap is a common part of the West African cuisine; we eat it in Ghana. I have friends from Togo, Cameroun, Senegal, Liberia and Ivory Coast who eat it too. Thanks for sharing. :)
Ma, you're too much. You're really endowed. You're not just a talented and skillful cook, you're also a talented teacher. You teach with love and passion. If you didn't make it in cooking profession, you would have been an excellent school teacher or lecturer. More grace to your works. God is lifting you
I'm glad I watched this video because I wasn't sure if I could use my kitchen blender to blend the corn, I was afraid it might damage it and needed desperately to make some for my baby because ogi is so nutritious and natural. Thanks very much God bless
I wish I can post my video on the comment session for you to see. I made my ogi for the very first time after watching your video. I would love to do it over again. Thank you ❤️❤️
Dry corn should be easy to come by in the US. If you don't have African Shops in your area search for "dry corn" on Amazon. They even have the yellow ones. :) I have the link to 2 videos on how to make Moi Moi in the description of this video: how to make it with foil and how to make it with leaves.
That's an ingenious idea right there Kelly! Pillowcase sellers should not hear about this new and improved use of their product else they raise their prices! lol Well done!
My mom is the only reason I love and know how to cook. Yes I played video games growing up and football but when it comes to time for cooking I did not trade it for anything and that has helped me till date in life and I am forever grateful to my mom. Ndi Nne ma nma!
I love this tutorial sweetheart.Wish there is somewhere i can buy corn here in the U.S so I can make akamu.i love drinking it with hot moi-moi.Can you do a tutorial on how to make moi-moi please
You're wonderful with your teachings step by step. And thank you for sharing. Pls ma'am I want to know the type of cloth you use to tie the pap after sieving from the chiffon fabric
Thank u so much for this video, requested for all the items from home and was able to make it using this video, found this very helpful.God bless u for me...
Thank you Sis. Detailed video. Can one skip the "souring" process? Is it ok to just keep it in a bowl of water in the fridge and change the water everyday?
I'm nowhere being a superwoman dear! lol The requests for these recipes keep coming and I can't say no to my brothers and sisters and all the Nigerian food lovers that really need them. One video per week is not too bad. :)) Much love to you too! Thank you!
Thanks for this video. I tried making this but it didn't turn out well. I think the corn didn't fermented after soaking it for 4days. Can you use warm water to soak the corn? How will you know the corn is ready for processing
Where have you been? It is great to hear your voice. Your video is alway nice and informative. I will try this. Can you do a video on how to make donkua. Thank you.
Lovely video, very detailed, pls I want to ask,is there any difference between the off white or yellow corn, does one has more nutritional value than the other.
In terms of nutritional value, the yellow corn has a higher β-carotene level ( β-carotene is converted to Vitamin A in the body and it is excellent for good eyesight and reduces the risk of some cancers) than the white corn. The β-carotene content is partly responsible for the colour of the corn and as additional information, hen fed with yellow corn (or β-carotene supplements) tend to produce eggs with a distinctly yellow yolk than those fed white corn (which is cheaper than yellow corn hence why some poultry farms use them)
Mehnn!!! Mrs Chinyere you are GOOD thank you so much, I learnt more than enough from your channel, wonderful!!!, I will always be here to learn more... 👍🏿🤗😘
