How to Screen Print Multiple Colors using a Vinyl Cutter
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 кві 2019
- For those who have seen my previous screen printing videos, this is a trick for printing multiple color designs without creating a new screen for each color. This works when your colors don't overlap. Since the black sunglasses over lap the peeps, I used 2 screens to complete this 5 color shirt.
If you are interested in learning how to screen printing using your vinyl cutter (like the Silhouette or Cricut) and Oracal 651 vinyl, I have a Step-by-Step Guide Available Here:

I'm making something now!
Yay! I'd love to see what you are making. Tag me on IG (@pigskinsandpigtails) if you post it there!
Awesome. What temperature do you press these at?
How long should you let it dry in between each different coating when using multiple screens? And do you need to use a heat press after for a final drying?
Still trying to figure this, but no one seems to ever mention, if you should let it dry between each color coat :(
Hi thanks for sharing I love it Where I can find that amazing transfer sheet?
I'm using a vinyl cutter to make the stencil. You can learn more about my process here: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/screen-printing/
Awesome way!! I didn't know that :) how can i make a film without photosensitization?
I use a vinyl cutter to make the stencil.
Where did you get the purple color from ?
ما هي اسم المادة المستخدمة في الطباعة علي التيشرت
Where do ya get the screens
Do you have any videos for beginners where you explain the materials and process?
I sure do! I also have an ebook that's a step-by-step guide to getting started. You should be able to find it all here: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/screen-printing/
Could you reuse the stencil for another shirt? Do you need to clean the screen before reusing the stencil?
Yep! Just pick it up from the first shirt and put it on the next shirt. You can make 20, 30, 40 shirts this way. Just be sure to wash off the screen before the ink dries so you can reuse the screen for another project.
I have been following you. Is it possible I'm using the wrong htv? I'm using oracle 651. I notice when you peel off the masking tape their no backing on ot. My backing has Oracle 651 on the back. I can't get to the design because of the backing. Please help
After you cut and weed your design on the Oracal 651, you'll use transfer tape to move the vinyl off of the backing and onto your screen. Does that make sense?
When doing the bunnies how long do you wait before you apply the tape and use a different color?
Let the first part of the design dry for at least an hour (I used a heat gun to speed up this process a little). You don’t need to wait any between the different bunny colors. I used the tape to block each new color from mixing/overlapping with the previous.
Hi, where can I get this pattern from and the screens the size?
The screen is 10x14 available here: amzn.to/2XNbedD
how long did you have to wait for the colors and the black paint to dry?
At least an hour between colors. I also use a heat gun to help speed up the process. After the shirt was done, I let it air dry for 48 hours before heat setting the ink with a heat press.
Do you need to wait until other colors dry before adding the black sunglasses on top?
At least an hour between colors. I also use a heat gun to speed up the process. Once the shirt is done, I let it air dry for at least 48 hours before heat setting the ink with a heat press.
Do you discard after one shirt or can keep reusing the screen to make more copies?
You can reuse the screen to make lots of shirts! That's the beauty of screen printing!
Hello I was wondering if you can help me? I’m new to screen printing and I just did my very first shirt. The ink came out puffy on the outer parts of the design but smooth in the middle. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?
Sounds like maybe just a little too much ink. Keep practicing! The key is to get a nice even, thin coat of ink over the entire design.
Would have been nice to hear how to do this.
Check out this tutorial, its a similar process where I walk through the steps:

What kind of transfer tape is used?
This is my favorite transfer tape: amzn.to/2WjL4yg
I am trying to screen print on some cushions . The cushions are made be. My question is should I prewash the fabric before I print on them. The fabric is 100 % cotton.
I don't pre-wash shirts before screen printing. I've found it doesn't make a difference to wash before. If you think the material is going to shrink significantly though, you might want to pre-wash so it doesn't distort your design.
How long did you way from color to color?
Using this method, I didn't wait at all. Just covered up the wet paint and went to the next color. If your colors overlap or your design is too complex to do this method, here's another way to do multi-color: ua-cam.com/video/kWi8IjjqZuI/v-deo.html
what kind of paint are you using?
I recommend Speedball Fabric ink. This video used a different brand and I wasn't as happy with the results.
What can i do if the vynl doesn't stick to the screen?
I've found that the type of vinyl and transfer tape you use is the key. I recommend Oracal 651 and I sell the transfer tape here: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/product/the-best-transfer-tape/
What size do you make your images for adult size shirts and kids?
That's a great question! I am publishing a free PDF sizing guide this week talking all about how to size the design for screen printing. You can join my email list here: landing.mailerlite.com/webforms/landing/q3e0i2 and you'll get it by email this week!
Pigskins & Pigtails I just signed up for you email list. May I please get the sizing chart sent?
What Bella and canvas shirt is that?
This is the one I used: www.shirtsinbulk.com/3001C?affiliate=pigskinsandpigtails
How do you clean the screen afterwards?
After I'm all done, I take the vinyl off the screen and wash the screen.
I found your video on cleaning them, thank you. How long can you wait(if you’re making several copies of something) until you clean it?
Do you need to heatpress the shirt at all? I’ve seen multiple videos where people press the shirt, is it to help it dry quicker?
Did you ever get your answer
It’s to cure the paint. Think this helps it to stay on after washing
Just dried it quicker
How didn’t the black at the end cover the bunnies ?
Good question!
You may have to tape over the bunnies with the blue tape.
what did you use for the small squeegee?
It's the same tool I use when applying vinyl: amzn.to/3tOIKRW
@@pigskinsandpigtails thanks so much.
Do you print it as a mirror image ?
