I would relabel the spices in your spice cabinet. The label is in the middle of the front of the jar, so you can only read what the front row of jars says on them. I would put slimmer labels further up so you can see what’s in each “stack” of labels.
I’ve just had a new kitchen fitted. I collected all the ‘good boxes’ I’d been storing, cereal boxes, Amazon boxes etc etc and made ‘dummies’ - this let me play around for a few weeks before investing in organising solutions. I bought far fewer drawer dividers than I thought I needed, re-used and repurposed some sentimental cookie tins, which feels more personalised rather than Pinterest perfect. I’m looking for a cord management box now!
This is a brilliant idea!! I always get overwhelmed trying to figure out what bin sizes to buy to maximize, so this is great. Love the personal tins too, I try and do that with older containers to make my pantry cute also! 🥰
Tip: As your kids get older but before they can read, label your toy bins with pictures of what should go into those bins so they can learn to clean up. :)
When my son was 3 (he’s 31 now) 😂 and instead of any labels on his bins, I designated the toys in clear or translucent or bright colored bins where I’d make a bin for “tiny construction men” “trucks” “signs/tracks” and he memorized the bins with no labels so he knew blue bin was those smalls and red bin was tiny cars then I had play road map mats/little carpets on floor so half of his toy room was a road 😂 we even had a toy grocery store conveyer belt and cash register where we’d group together the fake vegetables, cereals, dairy in bins like a grocery store, it was so much fun! More for me than for him!! Haaa I didn’t have a label maker back then we only had those old clicker label maker in one font and it constantly broke 😂
@@lisaahmari7199 TBH, my hubby is way tidier than me. lol. He's thrilled that I'm trying to declutter and be more organized. He's so patient with me. :)
I LOVE the qr code stickers. Great idea! We have so many bins in storage and even though they are labeled misc we have to dig through 3 before we find what we are looking for.
So my dad is the oldest of 5 and when him and his siblings were younger my Mammy used to keep all their socks in the kitchen drawer by the door because she said they would never have them for school. Heck this was back in the 60s when she thought of that idea.
Cord management! Wow, what an amazing concept! Thank you. And socks by the back door - I don’t have a space but might find room for a box by the front door. I’m totally addicted to your videos but need to get started on your advice. Procrastination video would be helpful for this grandmother!
Kallie, I love watching you because you get right to the point! You have great tips! I bought the spice jars after watching one of your previous videos and love them! I wish I had electric outlets in some of my drawers!
I have to say I have gotten so many good ideas from you for kids. I just turned an old TV stand into a shoe/ bag cabinet. Game changer!!! And the locks for cabinets are also amazing. My 15 month daughter can't get into dresser anymore. Mom win👍
8:30 I hated having my spices on a tiered thing. Trying to reach them, not knock over others, and not be able to see the labels was such a pain. I finally found some shelves that let the spice jars lay down at an angle so I can see the label on the lid and easily pull them out and I love it. It took some hunting since my shelves are shorter than average, but I found a rack that works.
Libreoffice has the ability to generate custom barcodes and QR codes. When I used to load trucks for one of the national package delivery services, each shelf would have a designation, and I can still tell where my packages were on the trucks because of the code. You can do something similar so that when you need to put stuff away from the collection bin in each room, you can do a quick sort and then just go to each area once to get everything put away. Basically room, shelving unit and possibly shelf and bin if appropriate. It's not a lot of effort once you're putting codes on things, but it allows for a much nicer experience when putting things away. You can just go around the house once each time and that bin is done.
I have the drawer bin organisers from Amazon in just about every drawer my house. They are the BEST. My husband is a builder so we’ve have drawer dividers since we’ve been married, he measures, cuts and in they go. Love the extendable tier, I’m buying that now! Our new kitchen is a bib wonky so getting it to my standards has been a struggle. We just finished adding on a proper mud room and I’ve put all socks in each person’s cupboard along with all their other items. BRILLIANT idea, thank you.
This is the exact mistake I made yesterday. I needed 4 buns and just bought 4 bins but did not measure. Noted! This is why I love this channel so; practical, on and to the point and she makes sense!
Oh my goodness - you are the first person I’ve “met” (aka followed or heard of ) to also keep socks near shoes ! My friends come over and are amazed at our socks space because I don’t keep them in rooms or drawers
I LOVE the QR code stickers! I work at an Amazon FC and this is similar to how the warehouse stores their thousands upon millions s of items. I will be buying These and start to organize the garage!
I finally organized my spices, mixed sizes, glass bottles & boxes, using 2 plastic bins, with only 2-3 in tall sides. One holds “single” spices such as salt, pepper, cinnamon. The other has spice blends like lemon pepper, steak seasoning. I can pull them out to view easier using the same shelf height you used. I also added a “shelf” over it giving me more space.
I love your idea of taking my pantry items out of their packages and putting them in storage containers. But I struggled when the package had the cooking directions for things like rice and pasta. I was cutting out the instructions and putting them inside the container where I'd have to fish them out at cook time. Then I came up with an idea. I now use my whiteboard markers to write short instructions right on the container - cook 7 minutes, 1 cup water 1 cup rice. The markings wipe off with water when I need to use the container for something else. By the way, I love the Rubbermaid Brilliance containers. They come in a ton of sizes and can be used to store things in the pantry, fridge, and freezer - and you can microwave in them.
I tape them on the back as well, though sometimes I write it right on the container with permanent marker. I've never had any trouble removing it with rubbing alcohol later. PS: thx for the review of the Rubbermaid Brilliance. I've had my eye on those for a while now and wondered if they were any good.
Walmart has less expensive clear bins from the “Home Edit” line! Started by 2 brilliant organizers who also use The Container Store products who have everything but at a high price!
I have cut cardboard and paperboard boxes to get containers the size I need! Almost all my cabinets have at least one! Life is a struggle, but it works great and have for years, just not that pretty to look at!
I love the drawer divider and the cord organization. I bought the spice rack that hang on the inside cabinet door. I can see everything and if I have extra I put them in my cabinets in extra spice jars
I also ordered the spice jars! I have a spice drawer, and I got tiered, clear plastic shelves! Absolutely in love with it. It looks so nice and is actually very useful since I love cooking and baking. Thanks for the inspo!

I have the same spice jars and love them. My freezer is a mess! I have no inventory and often things get too old. I am going to organize this with the Amazon bins. I saw another of your videos where you talked about measuring all the spaces rather than getting random bins so that's my goal. Big project but how rewarding! Thnx for all you do.
A cupboard full of spice jars, four or five rows deep, where you cannot see any labels but the ones in front, is a nightmare! You have sooo many good ideas. How on earth do you find the spice you want if it's in row 4? I use the pull-out swing-around (I can't remember what they're called). They take up hardly any space, and you can see everything!
And when you have fairly shallow drawers full of things, it helps so much to label the top with the contents, rather than open a drawer and look at 12 white lids that all look alike! AARGH!
Thank you for these ideas! I agree with what you said about labeling containers. It also helps other people know where things are supposed to go. I would suggest looking into the importance of storing batteries properly. Storing them loosely is not recommended.
Yes, especially 9v batteries that are particularly prone to shorting out due to both connectors being on the same side. I personally 3d printed a battery holder for my AA and AAA batteries, you can also buy them, but I fill up the top and can then pull them out of the slot at the side. Makes it nice and need, but still easy to load and unload without risking a short. The AA, AAA, C and D batteries are probably fine, as long as it's just batteries as it's pretty much impossible for them to short out like that unless there's other metallic objects involved.
You’re such a doll! Love watching your videos. Great ideas. I got spice jars a while back and I love them. I do need an Overstock bin! Good idea! Always bringing the goods with you! Thank you

I’d like to see organization tips for when you don’t have that many cupboards or drawers. I live in a new house, neighbours have to leave their buggies on the porch as there is no storage. There is no storage for the vacuum cleaner unless you put it in the closet in the lobby but then where do you put your shoes/boots? I’m lucky I have a separate wooden larder for my food but if I didn’t there is no way everything would fit in the tiny pantry with the saucepans etc.
I love how spices look organized, but honestly I only use a handful of them on a daily basis. For organization purposes, should I not “organize” them like yours if I only have a few? Or just make it look nice but not use the spices? Dumb question, but Thanks!
So Walmart has great value spices in those exact spice bottles for anyone that doesn't mind getting all the bottles at a slower pace. Or if you use food stamps, this is a great way to get those bottles without spending extra. You can also diy shelves out of sturdy cardboard and contact paper. While not clear, cardboard and contact paper is a great cheap, pretty way to make organizational containers. And it's even more customized to your needs. If you really need a clear side, you might be able to find a cheap picture frame to glue to the front of your box. Just cut the side you need clear off (or leave it empty) then glue in the picture frame. (Note: you may need to glue the glass to the frame to keep it in place.) We need to reduce constantly buying plastic. Reducing the purchase of plastic can lead to the reduction of it getting made. Plastic is made from petroleum, which is refined from crude oil, and making it creates a LOT of carbon emissions, not to mention the eventual pollution of the water supplies and damage to wildlife etc. It's just generally not good. You can DIY most of this stuff from cardboard. The cord box though... I don't recommend making that from cardboard or plastic. Wood would be your best bet. @@JamieM470 a shoe box with contact paper or glue art work to the box to decorate is a cheap, reusable way.
Right now I have dollar tree storage organization thing going on. When I’m better able to justify buying all the nice clear sturdy bins, I will 😁 at least things are contained, labeled and I know where things are. Thank you for the video - the items are going on my Amazon list.
I would luv to see a video on how you organize your pots and pans…
These were super good ones, adding a couple to my shopping cart right now.
Love your videos!😎
