Bill, you are a wealth of knowledge and I listen to you intently even though I will never build another race car cuz I am 70 years old unfortunately I am retired living on my social security check but back in the day we didn't have nitrous we didn't know nothing about nitrous everything we ran was high compression big carburetors but I do enjoy listening to you so from the Old Man in Tampa Florida may God bless and keep you all safe

I had my 60th yesterday and am studying cylinder head design and chamber design believe it or not and getting with Drag boss garage and MLB to name a few. Your explanation of fuels, octane rating, timing, nitrous, is spot on! Should add in sometime and explain the actual chemical reaction process and how the expansion of gasses from the chemical reaction is actually the driving force behind horsepower , and how nitrous itself provides an oxidized enriched atmosphere to be able to “burn” more fuel or should I say allowing more fuel to have the chemical reaction that in turn creates the cylinder pressure that you speak of. Then combine that with proper fuel to nitrous ratio to also control cylinder temps. You have a way with explaining things and it gets complicated to properly explain how it all “works”! Thanks and great video!

Yes, especially if you intend to drive the vehicle more than once down the street or track. Ignition, cam timing, and fuel are critical to good drivability and power output. I think you'll find this interesting.** Steve Morris race engines put together an 800-hp NA BBC to give away on his UA-cam channel. Starting at around 14 minutes into the video titled "Part 1 How To Build A 800HP BBC," You'll hear Steve discover that the new cam sprocket is 90 degrees out of phase from the manufacturer. I don't need to tell you what would have happened had that engine been started. PS.If you don't have a good timing light with a tach, advance meter, on, off switch, now is the time to invest in one. Good luck with the engine, etc.

@@Godscountry2732 thanks good country I'll check him out. Ya I been working on this build for about a year. Had to wait 6 months for the machine shop but it was worth it.
I'm experiencing how good timing, fuel and ignition is what transforms your motor from a bunch of bolt on to a finely tuned motor. And i know if I'm playing with NOS everything has to be right.
Ya I like Steve Mores I'll check it out.
I remember putting together a 460 build. It was a hone job, cleaned the rings and pistons, did some porting on the heads and a hood rv cam. Lol it didn't run because I used the old cam timing. Had to take the front on the motor all apart to move the cam with an correct advance timing chain. Made all the difference.

Hey Bill! Once again great content! Love seeing you and the boys laughing it up and challenging each other. I know Billy wants to do battle with the Malibu but I don’t think he knows what you are capable of. I think you have the Mustang covered looking forward to that race. Hey as always stay safe😀😀❤️

Thanks Bill, I had asked about ring gaps previously, and you said there were alot of factors. When you explained timing and fuel, it definitely makes more sense now.

Billy needs to go old/new school with this program. What I mean by that is Gen-X old school. AKA no carb but EFI grass roots where it all began. Wire the car with a factory 89-93 Ford harness (easy peasy) and an a9l or a9p computer and be done. Slap a "chip" at it and you'll never have to worry about those fouled plugs. People at the track will be all over the car when the see the induction. Ask me how I know.... :) Oh, I still have a nice little t-5 that'll make Billy's granny shifting go away if you are interested! Love the content, keep it coming!
