Not sure why this was in my feed , I’m a 47 year old woman and have no clue about cars but now I’m binge watching !
Welcome to the channel!
It’s good to get out and about !
It is addicting
@@ViceGripGarage Is Mr Derek originally from Canada..?
You’re be restoring cars in no time.
VGG’s charm is his comprehensive knowledge of all things automotive combined with his ability to completely ignore all that stuff.
Well put.
You sir win the comments section 😂
Haaa haaa haaa !
That’s Fine! LOL
if you know the rules you're allowed to break them
Does anyone else watch Derek's vids more than once? With tv being absolute garbage for years, I find myself watching re-runs of VGG very often!
Just found him today. And I have completely stopped TV. till now 😊
I've got a non-running, '84 944 Porsche 5-spd, that's been setting in a garage 4 ~ 19 yrs. Watching how Derek approaches his "resurrections" will help me no end getting it back on the road! 👌
Yessir! Just watched this one again after a year! So right about TV being complete GARBAGE!!! When a feller can't even trust his local news to at least come close to telling the truth, things ain't lookin too good!!
Yep. I love the hemi half build, have watched that a couple times😊. The revivals are great, have watched a few like the bland national and Buick t-type. I'm waiting to see the Fairlane footage that he and Tony from stay tuned built, will definitely watch that a few times, awesome car. I was laughing the other day watching Derek doing some mowing withe the rough mower. How many people are going to sit through a 30 minute video of someone mowing weeds? The guy whether he's goofing off or being serious just has a way of mesmerizing people. Oh, the Christmas special with the shortcut bus trip-i hurt myself laughing on that one, definitely worth many watches.
Especially the early revivals, Lawsuit and Fungus, the Mullet Camaro, all favorites
You bring joy & laughter to a man who's been suffering through depression for the last 35 years, & I Love & appreciate you for the beautiful, smart , loving, funny man that you are!!! May God Bless you & your family!!!
Hear hear!! I fully agree. And God bless YOU Jose and may you find peace in God my good man. 🙏
I can’t thank you enough for keeping this family friendly. My daughter could care less about automotive videos, her and I laugh together at your humor. I enjoy the automotive aspect, she enjoys the comedic aspect. It helps a feller try to raise a kid proper in a chaotic world
My son is 38 and I'm 58 he works for me and my brothers at our transmission shop and we always have fun talking about this show 👍😋
You are to be commended! Raising a child with TWO parents is hard enough let alone one.
You're doing the right thing!!
hate being that guy, but if no one corrects you, then you will continue to use the term incorrectly. "Couldn't care less." If your daughter could care less, well... then she could actually care less. Couldn't care less means that she actually could not care any less about automotive videos.
@@indetrucks appreciate the reply.
Those little 200's are great engines. Back in the day I bought a '68 Fairlane from a guy for a hundred bucks. It was sitting out in his back yard on four flat tires and hadn't run in ages. I aired up the tires, put a battery in it, poured some gas in the carburetor and drove it out. My plan was to drive it through the winter as a beater but I kept it and drove it for eight years. A kid down the street loved it, so I wound up giving it to him for free and he was still driving it 2 years later when I moved out of the neighborhood.
I had a similar experience with a 67 Valiant. Paid $75, drove 5 years, donated to the kid down the street. Still ride motorcycles with that kid 40 years later.
This guy really misses hundred dollar cars. " Real Bad" lol oh the stories.
@@joesmith1067 Most of my cars back in the day were in the $100 range. After the latest gave up the ghost, I was telling a guy at work and he said he had a sister with an old junker behind the garage. Don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it was under $100. Gotta remember, minimum wage back then was $2.75. Anyway, we went to look at it after work and yep, it ran so that was good enough for me. I didn't care what it was really. I wasn't a car guy. I drove it home and went to bed. I worked the night shift. My Brother came over later and he is a car guy and asked me where I got the goat. He said the G.T.O. I told him and he about shit. Turns out it was a 67 and was much in demand even back then. This was in 79. It was dented and rusted really bad but man did that thing run.
That's the kind of thing we'd often see.
Straight 6's do run forever, however they're always gutless. They don't make enough power or RPMs to hurt themselves. The inline design is balanced way better than a V-8 can be, and the pistons being straight up and down have less friction and wear compared to a V or flat (boxer) configured engine, where the pistons are laying on their sides.
Had 68 Fairlane myself, was the 4 door model that old car was unstoppable
As a 75 year old missionary in West Africa from the U.S. with no tv I watch every episode and even go back to ones I’ve not seen. Great wholesome entertainment and educational.
I identify as a 27yo fellette who loves your videos, my dad is a mechanic in Sweden and I’ve immigranted to the states. When I miss him and its not daytime over there I watch VGG! His English isn’t particularly good, but even he has thoroughly enjoyed a few! Especially the one where you kinda sorta fixed the barracuda in Pensacola. That was the first classic American car that he ever bought back in the 70’s, and I lived in Pcola while my husband when through flight school for the navy, it was a great coincydink for us. All in all, please never stop, your videos are entertaining regardless of your knowledge of cars, the English language or who, what and where you happen to be.
These episodes are my absolute favorite. His ability to keep you entertained for every single minute of these long videos is awesome!
Agreed. 15 epsiode series about burnout competitions gives me nothing.
Absolutely AGREE 100%! I Love his channels, adventures, the "sillyness" which reminds me of my friends and I but at a whole new level. His mechanical talent and driving abilities along with the Family Guy and humor.......well Derek IS A ROCKSTAR! God Bless you and yours buddy!
I’m totally in agreement with you!
One of the finiest videos I have ever seen.
Thanks for the kind words
Getting recognized at a gas station...in a hurry, and still take the time to let her get a picture,... That's gotta make it feel so worth it. Your the man Derek.
"Long Live VGG !"
I'm wearing the hat!
My first car was a blue '65 Mustang that I bought for $20 from a guy 3 blocks down my street. It overheated in the first block. My dad walked over with a watering can and we limped it home... He was no mechanic, but he and my Ford engineer brother in law, and their inexperienced assistant (me) tore it apart, and $400+ later it was road worthy. I learned ALL about that car from front to back. (It turned me into a lady gear-head, and I'm proud of it) My dad accidentally shorted part of the electrical system, so I had no idea how much gas was in it, or how fast I was going. I learned how to figure those things out. I loved that car, and drove it for years, until I could afford a new car. I should have kept it. Wish I could get another one.
Those "Will it run" videos are so addictive...watching them for hours
I've sometimes thought, no way he'll get that to run. But he does. Amazing mechanic!
Derek’s calmness in face of mechanical failure after failure has taught me to only be half the angry man I normally was.
Have you checked out Mustie1? Same temperament and comparably talented. More small engine stuff though.
Yeah, and orielly stores every few miles dont hurt. What u think of our delimas? What sells me is snake oil and i talian tune ups. That marvel oil, or restore your tired motor. Claimes to restore wore metal on engine walls. Will get compression, ect costs 25 -30 bucks 16 oz. Im a firm believer. I make coctails.sea foam in oil, gas, delute in soapy water for car wash. Tire conditioner. It says use 1 can, i put it every week. Mix flavors, brands, it really is expensive, but snake oil saves big bills later
The only time i swear like a sailor is when im working on cars. I love working on them but if anyone comes near they will hear nothing but anger and wondering why im doing it. Il be like I enjoy doing this i swear!
Easy peesy for him its a simple toy!
@@mikelavigne5085 also exellent! But the side stuff, about stuff, and other stuff? Where u get that stuff?
There are very few UA-camrs I'd sit and watch for an hour and forty two minutes but when it's VGG I don't hesitate and it's always worth it.
54K is very few???
To be honest ...I had the 67 convertible with the 289 engine. I can put a water pump in one blindfolded.
This video is packed full of standard and universally recognized automotive jargon. I always learn something from Derek. I only today realized my ride is missing ALL of its drift holes! 😂 Thanks for all of your videos, Feller!
As an S197 owner, the door inserts falling off made me feel a special part of the heritage that is owning a Mustang
I came across this channel in the past week and it has been a blessing. My 9 year old son, Blake, passed away suddenly in August. He loved dirt bikes, motorcycles and old cars/trucks (and Jesus too). We would often watch a UA-cam channel about motorcycles together. We were fortunate to go to our first car show together last summer and he absolutely loved it. I wish we found this UA-cam channel earlier because i would have loved to watch it with him but now I use this channel as therapy. When he grew up he always said he wanted to be a mechanic bc he loved fixing things.
god bless you and keep you. Prayers up for you.
Blake will be fixing old cars up there, while you're watching VGG down here !!
I cannot imagine your loss...sending good thoughts to you and yours.
😟 my condolences buddy
Good luck buddy
The length of these videos is awesome. Almost 2 hours of it, such a treat!
A full length movie
A lady who watches your 2 hour revival videos just happened to see you at the fuel stop. You meet the nicest people!!!
Honesty, when things go wrong. Integrity and humility, you sir are an incredible fellow! Young enough to be my son, yet, it is I learning life lessons from you. Keep it up and god bless, from across the pond.
Damn cool of a guy to let a feller use his garage while ya needed it, and a random fan meet to boot. Thanks for the upload Derrek!
Where do he sleep?
Motels😊
I've told my wife she needs to watch this because this is Bob Ross meets Mobile Mechanic
Red Green + Bob Vila
I kept looking a the 5 gallon (red tank) and thinking, “why does it look bigger than the ‘10 gallon tank’ in the passenger seat?!?” I can’t imagine having to think of so many various things at once! The fact you are honest enough to admit the mistake, just adds to the authenticity that makes your videos so enjoyable.
"Maybe they will come out of it? Nope. Probably not. Sure is a nice day today compared to yesterday. Is that a birch tree? Don't see those very often." This guy kills me. I end up laughing so much I have to rewind to keep on topic. Best channel on UA-cam.
What a legend! 2 movie-length videos inside a week, and STILL somehow has the time to squeeze out another 22 minute video?
My hat's off to ya feller, I'd love to shake your hand someday. Can't think of a better guy to idolize.
never a truer word.
Congrats on making it to the big leagues with motor trend! You deserve it.
His Auto parts commercial is the only commercial I'll sit and watch every time it comes on. "Want to jump a Coke can in the Parking Lot?" Performance Isle. OH Air Fresheners "Bourbon Flavor". Makes a guy crack up laughing every time I see it.
I’ll watch that commercial over and over and being a former member of the green mafia I dislike the place but dang if ole Derek gets me everytime
My friend, I took out a Sprint 200 out of his 1966 Mustang coupe and replaced it with a 1969 302 with a C6 automatic transmission. Great little car.
Brings back so many wonderful memories. I had a 1965 and I took out the straight 6 and dropped in a 265, I left everything in, the 2 speed automatic and original rear end. I can't remember what I used for engine mounts but, it was very simple because they offered the 265 that year as an option. What a little fast car it was. I traded it for a 1969 Dodge Charger 383, boy, those were the days my friend!!
Man I absolutely enjoy the humor , dry humor works well for Derek and the atmosphere of automotive repair.
A heavy, heavy dose of sarcasm 🙃
And he's not afraid to poke a little fun at him self. Derick is a pro.
Still making better videos than most movies released these days. So easy to watch. Keeps me smiling at your misfortune the entire way through whilst rooting for you at the same time. Cheers for the smiles per gallon.
My husband working on 66 mustang now loves mustangs in his blood
Wow second time watching and Derek is AMA ZING! He doesn't just call a tow truck and go. Nope he's trying EVERYTHING before he will give up!!
Full restoration is my vote. Those old Mustangs are just one of a kind. Too nice of a car to not let her shine. Don’t be afraid Derek, fear NOT 😂
Especially with dagenham 4 speed
In 1984, I drove a mile to a gas station in a 1976 Datsun B210 using only the starter and gravity. Good times! Your channel brings back the memories!
Derek, I discovered your channel yesterday, and I watched the third full episode. This one had me laughing out loud. When I was 15, my dad bought 13 dilapidated mail carts from the government by mistake, and we had to get them all running and sell all but the best one (for me). This brought back some great memories.
Definitely a worthy candidate for full VGG style restoration. It was a pure pleasure to watch this one.
He doesn't restore them. Just gets them barely running and moves on to the next
@@hojo70 He has done diy bodywork before and couple of resprays. Most of the cars don't get it, but some of them do. Guess you haven't watched all his videos.
agreed
Derek is a "car rescuer". If a vehicle has any potential for additional life, he saves it, gets it back to driving condition and either enjoys it himself or passes it on to another to enjoy, either as is or full restoration. As Derek has stated; once these old rigs are gone, they ain't coming back. He saves as many as possible.
He stopped so much for fuel it's almost like he was driving an EV. That could give a fella an idea.
This guy is so damn good, u can watch every one of his videos and stay fully entertained no matter how long they are.
Its literally a different language lol 1.5hr every night watching these, i think im becoming fluent in this new language
You can tell how well VGG is doing by the number of imitators youtube suggests. No thanks, this a one of a kind experience.
I'm so glad he's getting the recognition and views he deserves.
make that money!
your personality and humor is golden!
never change brother, god bless
I actually love every episode and anticipate these cause I learn some, remember some, laugh, and diagnose/ work right along with you! Never had your sense of humor though but nobody's perfect.
@@helium5912 not when I first watched him
One hour and forty minutes of great viewing. Better than any movie going around at the moment. Love your work, Vice Grip Garage !!
Are there any good movies going around? Nothing comes to mind except VGG and a few other YT channels.
Thats the truth, and i aint kiddin ya! Lol
So true. Well said.
Derek you ROCK! I have had the pleasure to have driven a few vehicles home like this over the years. Your commentary kills me!
I do the love the minimalist look of the engine bays of the classic cars. Can't beat 'em for reliability either when they are well kept.
Thanks for all these killer videos man! Had a really rough week and your videos never fail to get my mind off of things and make me laugh. You’re appreciated more than you know!
Definitely deserves a full restoration on this one
I would agree except fix everything as cheap as possible and some lucky high school graduate girl can get the car of her dreams for a price her parents can afford
🙌🏻 yes!

Just found VGG a few days ago. Cant quit it. Dereks abuse of the english language and his choices of cars to bring back to life takes me back home some 40 years ago. Thank you D!
I was a 63 bravo wheel vehicle mechanic 1976 to 1980 and we packed wheel bearings by hand old school.i absolutely love your show Wayne hall Amboy il.
I'm one of the 'lady-fellers' that follows your channel. Always learn so much from the various challenges you face getting these rescues back home. Always helps to keep your sense of humour, doesn't it?
I'll be dipped! It must be true because I'm looking at it and so on!
I'm a "lady-feller" too, hey there😄greetings from switzerland and italy

Another classic episode from VGG. An hour and forty-two minutes was way too much - perfect
way wayyy wayyyy too much... perfect
I like it.........yeah........ perfect!
Approved...
Awesome job Allison! Love watching you race an how much you improve with each round. Keep up the good work! JD
That was great. My dad had my sister and me driving the 64 step side in the pasture when we were 12 and the truck was 15 years old and in about the same condition (straight six manual trans). It builds responsibility at a young age.
Your calm, level-headed approach to dealing with that insecure feeling that you're liable to break down or get arrested at any time has helped me deal with my own near-catastrophes on the road. And I do have lots of them. Thanks, Derek.
I’ve made it my life’s mission to report all these bots. Too bad that does nothing, they make me so mad.
I’d love to see a full restoration on this. Love the revival videos, and even the quick budget build series. Been awhile since a restoration series. Perfect candidate. Keep up the good work
This is a message from your briclin car adventure, I admire your perseverance but admire even your commitment to your family!!! You're truly a beautiful person!!
There is no tool that packs wheel bearings as good as the palm of your hand.
An hour and forty-two minutes, what a treat. Thank you for the dedication. I bet you made that fan at the gas stations day as well.
How is it that you just keep getting funnier with every episode? Thanks Derek, you're awesome.
Thanks for watching
@@ViceGripGarage Licking the oil dipstick had me rolling! lolol
Watch his show in Motor Trend!
@@BIGD-lg1qd what's it called?
Motor trend Show is called Roadworthy rescues
Blessings Derek. Great restoration, as always. I had a 65, a 66 and a 67 Mustang. That 6 cylinder ain’t a race engine, but it’s pretty reliable. Sweet. I wish I had known, back in the day, what you’ve taught me, over the past few years. I wish I’d held on to that 65. Oh well. Such is life.
You make the best "evergreen" content. Rewatching it a year later and still having a great time. Thanks Derek.
Most hurtful thing Derek has ever said: "Whoever made these, I just want them audited." Such malice!
that was such a great line...lol
🤣
My favorite is; You'll get the full truth from head liners, children and yoga pants".
Ah, the meditative quality of Derek doing what he does. I love it!
Fun to see an old Mustang episode. My first car was a 65 6-banger with a 4 speed. Super fun.
My very first car back in 1983 was a 66 mustang, 289 automatic. When I sold it it had a top loader 4 speed in it. Wish I had never sold that car.
Derek and his Ciphering. 3-gallon tank instead of at 10-gallon tank. Love it!
These are my absolute favorite videos. You have such a talent for anything automotive, but you’re also entertaining, and I’m learning the entire way. Thanks for all of the work you put into your videos!
Mr. Bieri you are absolutely positively worth a million billion in this fellers eyes. I fully look up to you Derek and when it comes to being learned on, I absorb all of it. Keep being you and continue to teach all of us the right way to love and respect not only our families but everyone else that comes into our lives. Thank you sir!! I salute you feller. 🖖🖖
i use my hand as well to pack bearings. i think its the best way you can see it coming through the other end and feel how much is in there
I love his videos...I have always hated working on cars/trucks but he is an absolute ace mechanic... I love all the hand motions and his mechanic terminology like sparkilators, haha! hilarious
That cowl vent cover is a kludge to keep water out of the interior, because the cowl vent holds water and rusts out. I bought a '65 once with that "keep leaves out" story, and removed the cover once Fall rolled around and I needed the defogger to work. Then the first time it rained, I found out what the cover was really for.
When are you going to get back to the GTO,that is the coolest car I had one too it was black 🖤.I wish I still had it.
Want to say congratulations to Derek on the TV gig. It's nice to see a small guy get the appreciation and recognition he deserves. I love watching your videos. I hope you don't get too big for UA-cam.
These days, UA-cam is bigger than TV.
@@jamesdecanteur4485 but a guys gotta think. If he was making so much with UA-cam why even entertain motor trends offer. They had to offer some $$$.
He ain't no "small guy" lol the only vehicle he didn't struggle to get in to was his big ole ambulance firetruck
Half-hearted "disagree" on this one. Yeah, it's nice to see Derek make the Big Leagues and get his own show, but unfortunately they (MT) seem to have taken some of the best parts of VGG and toned them down or deleted them altogether. Some examples: Where are the goofy finger pointing scenes with the hand-held GoPro/iPhone? "Distributor"? "Alternator"? What happened to the "spark-a-whirler"? Other than a few scenes where Derek gets to be Derek ("fuel-make-it-happener"), parts of the show makes me feel like I'm watching one of those How To Work on Your Car shows that air on Saturdays ("We'll be right back" for commercial breaks, anyone?). Much like how MT (kinda-sorta) ruined "Roadkill", I say, "Hey, MT: Let Derek be Derek, Dammit!"
@@subcoolman reminds me of when Wayne and Garth sold the rights to Wayne's World and the studio commercialized it way too much. 🙄

I love watching your revival videos, no one does them as entertaining as you. Keep up the fantastic work!
Love these revivals, Derek. This could be a real gem. I think you ought to go all the way with this one including paint and interior. They make everything for these Mustangs now a days. I think it deserves it and you said you always wanted one so there you go.
The AFTERMARKET is a joke!. Everything comes from China and Dynacorn panels are TERRIBLE. The body's of these are like your teeth. When they go they go. The days of finding a fresh one are gone.. that's why patinas and rat rods are phasing in. You really want donor cars for OEM panels. Motor and transmission parts are good because they HAVE TO WORK.. but little things like thermostats can burn it down.. Corporate America is killing the hobby!
This was a great ditty! I thought, more than once, probably more than twice, well, he’s dealing with a Ford, when nothing else will run any Ford can be made to. You proved that once again. I even remembered that me cousin had a green one ‘exactly’ like this one. Whenever he finished working on it he’d leave my Uncle Kenny’s tools all over the driveway and yard. Me Dad would go over there and tell his brother, “Well, Ken, if you can’t take care of your tools I will do it”, while he was picking them up and sliding them into his back pockets. It was a thing I will never forget. Well, I did forget but, I remembered it while I watched your ditty. Excellent do, Derek!
Whoever put that cowl vent protector on there saved the cars life.
Whatever it takes, Derek is that kinda guy who is not very likely to get completely stranded. Knowledge and ingeniuity! ♥
Hi Derek. Well that takes me back a year or two. My old mate Mat who has now long since past away purchased a 65 mustang direct from the USA imported it to Tasmania (Island off the south coast of Australia.) and had it changed from left hand drive to right hand.
Coolest thing since sliced bread. There was no roads in or out of the town of any distance and it was gravel. Anyway a quick burn up the the main drag and then back to parking it outside the shops. The car was brand new so it did not smoke but we made up for that. Cool dudes with nowhere to go. Oh to go back in time. 83 years old now but great memories.
Cheers from down under. 😅😅😅
I appreciate your story, Cheers!
Looking back in times past always brings a smile to my face, times back then seemed simpler, people had more time to say "hi" and if you broke down on the road someone would stop and help. These days you hear of someone stopping to help, only to be robbed, or their car stolen by the people who were "broken down"...... I'm 63.
Very Cool !!!! Thank You

Man, this is like a blast from my past... When I was growing up, our family's first new car was a 1965 Mustang, Poppy Red with black vinyl interior, 6 cylinder with the "3 by the knee" transmission. This was the car that I learned to drive in, and was my Dad's daily driver until about 1971 when his daily 110 mile commute took its' toll on it. With almost 200K miles on it, it was using almost as much oil as gas, and he traded it in on a 1972 Ford Courier... so instead of my first car being a Mustang, I wound up with my Grandmother's old 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I've always wondered how my future would have differed based solely on my first car...
Hi Derek, I am living in Kent, England and have just discovered your great channel!!! I have a large collection of classic cars but have recently bought a 1968 Mustang 289 Convertible that lived all its life in Arizona and this year a 56 Thunderbird so we have a real big interest in Classic American cars. @@damiworld The power of the Internet!!!! The big trouble is that I start watching these videos, get pulled in deep and don't get any work done!!! Where are you in Kent? We are between Sittingbourne & Maidstone.
Derek. I almost always tap into the high beams. I disconnect the bulbs and either connect to the high beam lead. Its fused and easy and convenient. You have control from the driver seat. Sometimes i go to the high beam relay or fuse.
I'm glad Derek rescued this "66 Stang notchback. I had one back in my younger days. Mine was baby Blue with blue interior. I still miss that car ‼️🇺🇸😎
Derek I've got to say there are many channels of "barn finds" and revivals out on the interwebs. You are by far the best with your laid back demeanor and humor and a vast knowledge of vehicles IMHO. Thank you for what you do it's very entertaining and I've even learned things I never knew as well. All the best to you and yours!
Appreciate the kind words
