Just ordered three of these badboys to replace my 8010gt ones. It's about time I had some new ones. Those old 8010s have done me well. Also order from Angling Direct!
Why they don’t tell you how much line capacity with the different reductions?? That would be so helpful..! I’m getting crazy on how much of 0.35mm line I can have with the 10000 and the 3500 reductions..
Hi Peter, The Shimano XTE’s and other high end Shimano carp reels have manual bail arms. This is to avoid the bail arm closing mid cast. Your Reels are fine 😊
Hi Stuart, The Ultegra XTE is quite a big reel. If you have an AD store nearby the staff would be happy for you to try the reels on your 10ft rods. The Ultegra XTD in 5500 would be the perfect match. www.anglingdirect.co.uk/shimano-ultegra-xtd-reel?queryID=330f3cb96b1e204b73bfa3eccc3ec82a&objectID=55741&indexName=live_ad_uk_products Hope this helps?
Hi Matthew, the Ultegra 14000 XTE are quite a large reel for a 10ft rod. The Ultegra 5500 XTD are still available and would be a better balanced reel for 10 foot rods. You best option would be to take your rods to you local Angling Direct store and ask if you could try the reels on your rods. www.anglingdirect.co.uk/shimano-ultegra-xtd-reel?queryID=c390a91ef0c556f0485a2ace08a3d57b&objectID=55741&indexName=live_ad_uk_products

@@AnglingDirectTVdoes a 10ft rod warrant big pits? What’s roughly the max distance you can cast with a rod that size
@AnglingDirectTv will they not make a 5500 XTE

What is the difference between the XSE and XTE 14000’s?
Hi James,
The XSE is more popular with sea anglers. It has a shallow spool suited for braided mainline.
Ok but do they both have XProtect cause I just recently purchased XTE 14000 reel but not sure if it’s suitable for beach fishing here in Australia?
Will these be ok on ten foot rods
