    I cannot emphasize how useful rings are (and maybe a weight vest too) for training your entire upper body. I couldn’t decide whether to lift or so just rings/calisthenics because I love both, so I just did both! It’s easy to blend lifting and rings into your workout.

      I would argue that rings are all you need for your upper body for long term gains. For the lower body though, I would lift weights.

      @@MikaelLewisify super late lol but what I looking to do combine calisthenics and weights is just weighted calisthenics. Weighted dips then supersetting with ring pushups. Weighted inverted rows supersetting with facepulls or pull-ups. Treat one movement like a strength movement and watch your upper body blow up

      Hi William thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, glad you enjoy the videos. Yes they are a great tool to use and many people would have less joint pain switching to a ring version of the exercise, main example is wrist pain with chin ups and switching to the ring pull up. Amazing you are in your 50's and still working out and hope in the future i am too.💪

      Danny, it's funny you bring his name up. I'm not sure he's still vegan. He went all anti-soy when Weston Price made their assault on all things soy. And sadly, Mike Mahler was naieve enough to believe the b.s. presented by Weston Price and he started putting down and attacking soy on his website. Eventually this lead to a a debate between he and I and he not only removed me as a friend on facebook, but blocked me. Now, if you go to his website you will see no mention of veganism at all. I was on his site the other day and was saddened to notice he no longer promotes veganism. But the jury is still out on whether he is, or isn't vegan.

    I agree with all your points bro, and I'm a huge rings fan.
    Wondering what your thoughts are on using them for 100% of training. I can't see a reason why someone wouldn't want to... it can only be beneficial to build up volume on them as well as the raw strength required for the basics. I think these are probably the only piece of equipment one could ever need. It perfects every exercise physiologically in my opinion. What do you think Lee?

    but if you were a beginner, would you suggest to start out with rings and get stronger on the basics (ring pushups, ring pullups, etc) there or just do it normally? (like pushups on the floor, pullups on the pullup bar, etc)

    • @LeeDowningKeat
      @LeeDowningKeat  2 роки тому +1

      The reason why rings are great for beginners is because you can adapt exercises very easily and make them progressive and regressive to meet your needs. Its a great idea to do some of the basics like push ups off the floor but if you find the basic one too hard and dont have a safe way to elevate yourself to make it easier rings can really help with that. Plus most people let alone beginners struggle to do pull ups so rings allow people to do inverted rows and again helps change the angle of your body to make it regressive and progressive. The great thing about rings also is they are cheap and easy to use so you can have them and use when needed. Hope that helps and make sure to subscribe for more content

    how often should you train on rings? i wanna see more gains so less or more?

    • @LeeDowningKeat
      @LeeDowningKeat  4 роки тому

      As often as you want, personally i train on rings instead of the bar where i can, i just prefer it, my body does to, even ring pull ups feel better, so you can just replace your bar work with them or add them in together like you normally would

      @@LeeDowningKeat thx man i tend to do both honestly but i give myself rest days so the body can recover and gain more muscle through rest periods. some folks say rest days aren't needed. but they really help honestly.

    • @LeeDowningKeat

      Rest days are needed and that is where you grow, your muscles recover but also especially when doing strength training your cns needs to recover too. It depends on the intensity and volume to how much recover you need and how your program allows that. I like body part 2 times a week , i think that works well, so im a fan of upper body lower body split or a full body, for a full body say mon wed fri you have a days rests between each session than after 3 sessions get 2 days off which is nice, will the upper lower split you get a session off between each then another 2 days which give a good template of recover but each person needs to adjust to them what works as some body parts take longer and other factors like sleep nutrition and stress can effect your recovery.

      Dont worry about that, find a sturdy tree and i hardly think some straps will do any damage to a big

      @@LeeDowningKeat its just height im worried about. When ya work up to above ring moves or you wana fully free hang ya need about 14ft so you can fully invert and fully hang. I know you can get away with about 7 or 8 if you arent but even thats hard to find randomly. Guess i gotta go scowering for trees in open ground.

    Don't get plastic. Get wood rings. For false grip, for muscle ups, etc.. plastic is no good.

    • @LeeDowningKeat
      @LeeDowningKeat  3 роки тому

      I do prefer wood as well but the biggest thing i would say for people to look out for when buying is numbered straps, rather numbered straps on plastic than non on wooden, hate wasting time trying to level them out for them to be uneven in a dip or push up.

    Rings are rubbish for the lower body. So you are wrong when you say it all u need

    • @LeeDowningKeat
      @LeeDowningKeat  3 роки тому +2

      Rings were not designed to use for the legs they are an upper body movement but you can still use them to help with leg training . Most people don’t have the mobility to do pistol squats or have the balance to do single leg work but rings can help you do that. Technically you can do legs without any equipment so I would say that using rings would make legs training better or more possible for many people so I would say that doesn’t make them rubbish. The fact they are useful in an activity they were not designed for would argue the opposite .
