You were talking about the sharp curves, I did the Parkway a few years ago I went around one of those curves and my buddy was stopped in the road because a bear was crossing. You have to be aware of the unsuspecting dangers.
Watching these videos of motorcycles trips while its snowing outside just to get some amount of motorcycle satisfaction. Can't wait for this dang weather to get better.
I know that this is an "older" video, but for those just watching, I noticed that you initially blew past the entrance to the BRP at 9:47. For those planning to do this run (from the northern-most post), the entrance is obscure, not well marked, and if you go under the stone bridge, you just went under the BRP.
Fun roads. If you are still around, hit 151 near Crabtree falls. You'll get your TIGHT twisty roads there. I miss living in that area. I took my FJR down to ride Skyline a couple weeks ago - beautiful up there. Thanks for the vids!
Really enjoying these videos. I love the FJR1300 for the kind of trip you are currently on. I have a 2013 FJR. Looking forward to the rest of your vids. Ride safe.
So I want to do the dragon, and this Highway. Where should I stay that’s in between? Or should I just stay near the dragon, then drive more south. I’m hauling my bike down.
I'm enjoying your ride -- we did that route same year as you -- looking forward to a re-do next summer. Just wondered what brand of Raincoat is that -- I LOVE the red/black - very sharp!
I just watched, and enjoyed your videos. I am also from Tampa Bay, and took the Amtrak to Lorton, VA arriving on September 30th of this year. Unfortunately rain dogged me the entire first week (that was the week of hurricane Joaquin and the great flood in Charlotte). Based on the foliage, and colder temperatures, it looks like your trip was later than mine - just curious about the dates.
+Brian Mabbett That's correct, they let out more hot air - they do not BLOCK air like you said - the previous gen do move the air because they extend out. Gen II simply opens the vents and allow hot air to escape. And it's more for the engine than your legs. I didn't need them at all on the ride either way.
Great videos, great ride...I live in the Upstate of SC so the Blueridge and nearby twisties are a frequent for me on my 2015 FJR and my 2006 SV650; Question...why the suspense of possibly tipping over the bike by using only the side stand? I never saw any usage of your center stand on precarious terrain?!Thanks for all the great work that you share.
Curious if northern based riders would actually benefit from the earlier model in Fall when what was identified as excess engine heat would be welcomed.
great job, are you using gopro4? I was down there memorial weekend didn't ride the blue ridge much ran 221 from bent mountain to 421 and up the snake. came across Kentucky and it got down to 38 degrees got lucky and found a room at a super8 lol south of Ashland.I ride a 96 cbr 600 f3 never had to downshift to pull any hills.Gets 55mpg on highway with ethanol blend 60mpg with pure gas. Most fun ive ever had on a motorcycle and i've been riding since 1967. planning on being in Maryville Tn. next memorial weekend.Again keep up the great video's.
Like to listen your FJR comments, had one ages ago and your video brought memories back. Interested to know what bike you go for next? BTW think I'd like another engine tone sounds great and think the updated FJR is now much improved. Great video I'm over in the UK
Good to know. I know you test rode the BMW R1200 RT. If money was no object would you go with the BMW over the FRJ? Also, if I were to ride the Blue Ridge going south, would starting out in Roanoke, VA be a good place to start or would I miss good stuff vs. starting at the beginning north of Roanoke? Love the videos, keep em up!
What's that X-grip like... Is it really as trustworthy as they say it is? It seems so counterintuitive to put an over-half-a-grand smartphone in that flimsy looking thing?!

I now have a 2015 ES in the garage! She's one day old... Love it!

Good stuff!! I'm doing Blue Ridge next spring. These vids are good prep! Thanks for posting them!

Sounds like that guy was pretty smart for trying the bike on for size first ;-) Great trip so far, I'm enjoying it with a smoke B-)
Next time you are in Asheville, NC....check out Casablanca Cigar Bar. You won’t regret it. Good stop.
Great ride. Love TWO
Very cool. Thanks for sharing,

I stayed at the Waynesboro Super 8 in 2019 and our room reeked like cigarettes, Old Spice and BO....
Hey, new subscriber here. Your channel and videos are great. I hope you don't stop posting videos. It's calming for me.
+PwningGerZ Thanks for watching!

Gr8 video Bry looks to me like your fairing vents were set to summer setting would keep the wind off your legs better in the winter setting. ...
+Brian Mabbett No, GenIII don't work that way.

+Juan-Pablo Gallego The center stand is not for use on a slope. The side stand is far better suited.
Guessing that doing this ride early October would be optimum for weather & color, maybe more people though.
+thehexter1 Right on all counts - I mention that in an upcoming vid :)
+TwoWheelObsession 😄 Was only 15 minutes in when I wrote that.

+Howard Morton I would really like to test the new Triumphs when they hit the showroom - I was very impressed with the last gen!

Turning around on dirt with wet leaves? I came here for a leisurely ride through blue ridge, not high suspense haha.
