There is always so much fan speculation with George Lucas. But finally, the man has spoken out. He threw massive insults at everyone involved in Disney Star Wars. In the same interview, George Lucas was asked if he will ever direct another film, essentially opening the door for him to discuss being involved in any Star Wars projects in the future. George Lucas emphatically said "no, i'm retired". He also said that he is the only person who understands Star Wars and that nobody at Lucasfilm today does.

Never believed that George was coming back. That guy on Theory's channel that "broke" this "news" must have been utterly delusional. The man sold his company for a reason. And if incompetent morons had messed up my life's work I sure as hell wouldn't return to help them out anyway if I was George. But that's just me.
In the final end; it wouldn't matter of George came back or not. He'd still be working under Disney & the woman that lied to his face on camera - KK. They can bring in Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorcesse, Michael Mann, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, heck even God himself = as long as they must work for these incompetent, woke fools NOTHING will ever be different! And, even if I will never understand why George supported Iger in the proxy fight, I bet George knows that coming back would never do him any favors, nor the story that they have destroyed.

Others did, too, tried saying so on MySpace, Facebook, etc, but were dismissed... now here we are.
I think that's one of things I love most about the Echo Base channel. Feels like a support group for real fans, the old school fans, when Star Wars was Star Wars, as opposed to woke wars or anti hetero sexual people wars.

Filoni truly screwed even himself over with pushing this nonsense into the Ahsoka show. If everyone is special then nobody is. And Filoni also continued the new "tradition" from Kenobi that lightsabers just can't kill women. If Filoni truly knew & understood SW, none of this had ever even entered his brain, even less ended up on screen.

Any Lucas involvement in new SW material would necessitate a new employment contract which would inevitably lead to Disney having to relinquish some creative control and there's zero reason to think Disney would agree.
As Disney isn't going to relinquish creative control there's no reason why Lucas would want to return. If his ideas/scripts can be vetoed or substantially altered why would he want to return? Nothing to gain.
And he's 80 years old so it's not worth the stress. He doesn't need it at his time of life.

Lucas has repeatedly demonstrated horrendous instincts when it comes to people. Filoni, Kennedy, and Iger are the pinnacle of his abysmal character judgement.
Little bit sad considering he had a great professional relationship with all these people. Even now Lucas is still willing to defend Iger, even though he isn't happy the way Disney have treated Star Wars!

Who knows what will happen. The interviewer asked will George make (direct) a movie. George responded with "no I'm retired"; however, George could possibly come back in an advisor role or creative consultant. Anything can happen under new leadership at Lucasfilm. I still believe Kennedy will be gone by the fall. With the right leadership, Star Wars can thrive

If he was the only one who knows Star Wars then why since the OT the EU authors are the ones who created the best new characters and stories, and gave Luke, Han, and Leia character progression and an arc. Lucas did the prequel because he wanted to do the backstory fair enough. Disney came in and ruined the movies and erased the EU from canon. The Disney canon is a bunch of shoddy to mid level fanfiction.

THEN, in the proxy war, he supports Bob Igor, honestly, star wars isn't even a shell of its former glory but an out of control dumpster fire causing a crowd of onlookers backing up traffick. Star Wars died in 2014, and that's it! It's dead, gone, finito - over. Disney owns it now, and they turned into what it is today... hot wet garbage. We'll always have old school star wars, memories of talking about it with friends when we were kids, pretending to be Luke or Han with friends buzzing around the back yard or woods. That was then, this is today. It's been over. It ain't coming back.
The only thing I'll give Disney credit for is Rogue One and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. Having the guy who played Jar Jar cameo as a Jedi was a nice little touch, bringing back Ahsoka and Luke was the best... but, reality slapped us on the peepee's in season 3... It's dead. It's not a question of Lucas coming back. As a creator, I wouldn't either. At this point, it's a matter of may Star Wars finally rest in peace already.

Even if George came back he couldn't fix it Disney has destroyed it and I don't think it can be fixed they could make a good movie but it is just a dumpster fire now maybe if they did nothing for 10 years it erased the sequel trilogy it might help but I doubt it and Dave is only doing Dave star wars and it sucks

I think a lot of us fans, have romanticized the idea of George, directing a new sw project. His original idea for episode seven, he has shared in the past, involved very small children, related to the Skywalker’s. And little aliens behind the scenes, the generated the force. Sounds pretty stupid to me. Even worse than the force awakens.. which I actually liked. The Phantom Menace, and attack of the clones, is still the worst Star Wars thing ever created. But just like everybody else on the Internet, that’s just my opinion.
I never desired it in any way, shape, or form. As far as "who understands what" goes, we have one and ONE ONLY candidate who when left the hell alone to do his thing HIS way, has shown not only does he understand SW and the force, but could EASILY put an entire new army of asses in the seats if left to his own devices.
This is, of course, the one guy that the wahmen folk and their talent-free, wahmen-adjacent, coattail-riding soy boy Dildoni want gone. Can't say as I blame them either. When the clear alpha male of the pack so thoroughly obliterates the completely unwanted concepts and pipe dreams of his co-workers in less than one hour of television, you'd better cut that off at the knees and set a strong leadership directive before the entire ship's crew throws you overboard.
And while I completely understand wanting to remain employed in uncertain times, the fact of the matter is that the premium talent of the current system ( I refer to actual talent, not status ranking ) has already demonstrated a willingness bordering on fanatical desire to jump ship yesterday to a better option should one become available. Were the film industry any kind of passion in my own life, this is exactly what I would be in the process of creating.
This would of course require the return of certain "influence brokers" from days gone by, but the majority of them would view this as a passion project with the added bonuses of income, power, and prestige. Monsters they may be, but children have they too. And as any hardened lawman will tell you, it's better to know the score from top to bottom than having to constantly use time and resources figuring out who this week's adversary is.
Anyway, George told us the complete story - Episodes 1-6. Return of the Jedi is the true good ending of the Skywalker story. I will appreciate him forever and be thankful

I have always seen Star Wars as made for quite young people. I am a big kid at heart and it doesn't bother me.
Not only didn't he say "Nah, I'm retired." He didn't miss a BEAT between the question and his reply. He's done. If we as the fans feel beat up over what Disney has done, how much more does George feel?

I can't see Disney relinquishing creative control to Lucas. They didn't do that when they were developing SW episode 7 (2012-2013) so why would they want his 'ideas/treatments etc' in 2024? They rejected his sequel trilogy outlines.
No offense guys. I’m disappointed with much of how Disney handled Star Wars. Most recently Mandalorian Season :3 and Obi Wan. I never believed George was returning to work on a movie or series. But, I enjoyed Ahsoka very much. I enjoyed Dave’s directed episode with the Space Whales. The World between Worlds episode was so great with Anakin finishing Ashoka’s training and she bringing him into the Battle of Mandalore . The actor chosen to play Ezra worked for me. Though his reveal could have been handled with more emotion.

I didnt like Ashoka I thought Rosario Dawson was terrible in this! She look bored with her arms constantly folded! I thought Mandalorian season 3 wasnt as bad as people keep saying. That saying the first two season were great!

After the Prequels but most importantly how George erased the theatrical editions from the public space my opinion of Lucas was low already, but after him stabbing Peltz in the back and supporting Iger I don't want him anywhere near SW EVER again. Enjoy your 30 pieces of silver, George. If you're lucky history will judge you kindly and place all the blame on Disney.

I never expected George to come back. After what he went through making the prequels he sold it to Disney for a reason and he retired. The man is 80 years old now and even if he did come back, nothing short of a complete post-ROTJ retcon will fix it. The franchise for most fans is dead to us. I've grown apathetic and it's a STARK difference from where I was where I would be ecstatic about a new Star Wars project. Nowadays I can't even be bothered.
I will always love Pre-Disney Star Wars. 1-6 and the EU and the few things I feel slot in like Mando Seasons 1 & 2 but otherwise I'm done with it.
Star Wars Died with The Force Awaken, buried with The Last Jedi & a headstone with The Rise of Palpatine!!! Jon Favreau was the closest to the true Star Wars we got as fans!!!!!! Disney/KK destroyed the franchise. George Lucas moved on it's time for former fans to move on, it's unfortunate but it's true. Now it's the turn for Disney fans to keep the franchise alive for the next 40 years and it's off to a bad start.
How canm you have the rial of Dave Filoni in this case when has to follow the whims of KK? If the direction from KK is to follow is to do x, y, and z to Ashoka series HE HAS TO DO IT. Failure would mean being cut out of the process, fired, and/or blackballed in the industry by KK. How hard is that not to see.? I an a Filoni Fan I am a star wars fan. Can't blame him. He delivered three great films and three good ones so we will always have that. Really the saga was kinda done after 6 in many ways and I for one are fine with 1-6. I do appreciate him for that plus the OG Indiana trilogy.
