One of the most energic indeed. Not bored of playing "smells like..." as it was in the beginning, great audience, Kurt even laughs sometimes. Nice ambiance!
This is as good as it gets for AUD shows. I just wish it was a bit closer with less people covering the view of the band. Mainly, I just want to see Dave beating the shit out of his drums.
+odiumimbues when a song becomes your walls. your head. your room. your outside. And you live in it night after night. you have artistic control over your crowd, your music. Your thoughts. You have gathered everybody here. You turn the switches and power on the lights and you run away. You might need some drugs to feel it though. But for a visionary you might easily see the soundscapes.
this to me is the best nirvana show. they sounded so full, so on point, kurts voice was in great shape. the audio levels are perfect. this is simply perfection for nirvana.

This has got to be one of the last shows they played in a place this size, ...the buzz about this band took off like wildfire faster then imaginable in the fall of 1991. I think they went back to Europe later that fall, literally were gone 3 weeks and came back, someone actually informing them they bumped Michael Jackson off number #1 on the charts having no idea while they were gone. Crazy.
ALL must acknowledge & recognize CT's visionary promoter Fernando Pinto for bringing Nirvana (as well as many other great bands) to New Haven & CT. Excellent documentation. Thanx for posting! Wasn't there then but now I feel like I was!
Yes yes and yes!!! I had never seen his show and was so excited as I watched it..now I keep coming back to it because it's the perfect show in my opinion. ..the set list was amazing and the sound and groove was good too
I was at this show and then you posted the video and I couldn’t believe you were recording it. Thank you 😊 so much for capturing my memories from that night that two weeks later they would become the biggest band of the 90’s and I remember saying that drummer is going to be bigger then the band it was definitely a psychic vision I was thinking through out the entire show. And then they all came true. I am definitely grateful that you recorded this and I thank you 🙏 from the depths of my soul. God bless you and your family now and forever ♾ to everyone. Jesus Christ don’t want me for a sun 🌞 ☀️ bean .....☮️💟✝️♾🙏😇⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Following day, September 27, 1991 Nirvana played an Acoustic set at Tower Records in New York City, NY (too bad the full audio / any audio from the Tower Records, New York, NY acoustic set hasn’t surfaced), I know that there’s at least one uncirculated recordings - AUD #1. In which Kurt supposedly recorded the show himself on a boombox. then that Night Nirvana played their 3rd and Final show in my Home-State of NJ at the Legendary Punk Venue “City Gardens” In Trenton, New Jersey. Wish there was the SBD Audio for the 09/27/91 show available as all the available sources of the City Gardens show, first cuts in, on the “solo” of Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam and the entire recording of the City Gardens show is so overly distorted (as if it was recorded through a Boombox), It’d be nice to finally hear the Acoustic set Nirvana did at Tower Records in New York, then have the Full SBD Audio of the City Gardens, Trenton, NJ show along with Footage that’s not so shaky / and whatnot. I have the 09/27/91 City Gardens show on a second generation Cassette tape that was recorded by this guy who was at the City Gardens show and who I’ve met at a Flea Market who was selling VHS/Cassettes of shows of bands, I guess he’s recorded.. As I was browsing through his collection of items, He asked if I was looking for any particular bands, and I’ve mentioned that the majority of the bands I like are obscure and footage / recordings of them are quite impossible to find / or doesn’t exist. But I said, you have any Nirvana? And then he told me that he saw them live once, but he was a Junkie at the time so he doesn’t fully remember it, and said he used to record all the shows he went too on Cassette tapes, and said that he might still have his master tape recording of the City Gardens show.. he told me he’ll look for it and let me know if he sees me again, and then maybe the next weekend or 2 as I was wandering around the Flea Market, I’ve seen him again, and as my eyes looked towards his direction, as if he was like keeping an eye out for me he called me over towards his table where he was selling his items and such, and handed me a cassette of the 09/27/91 City Gardens show and then said it’s on the house. Apparently he told me he was getting high in the bathroom when Nirvana started their set, so the cassette is totally missing the (cut) version of Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam, he started recording as Nirvana started the second song of the show, it’s hard to hear not sure if he was nodding out and covering the mic speaker or If Nirvana was just that Loud as a Band. The Cassette isn’t as “distorted” as the AMT #1 (Amateur video), shot from the left. the master tape was circulated. It’d be sick if there was a Complete Video of the Sept. 27, 1991 City Gardens show in the same quality form as this September 26, 1991 The Moon New Haven, CT show here, If there was like any Pro-Shot / Semi-Pro looking Shot of the Band with SBD Audio of the September 27, 1991 show that’d be rad It just kind of sucks that the AMT #1 video first cuts in during the solo of Jesus, and the entire show is just heavily Distorted and the video is shaky.. there is supposedly Two Uncirculated Recordings of the 09/27/91 City Gardens, Trenton, NJ show thats AMT #2 Video taped from the DJ booth with a tripod for the band. The master tape was turned over to the band after the show. And then AMT #3 Video taped from the audience for the band. The master tape was turned over to the band after the show. Let’s Hope that one day these two AMT #2 and AMT #3 Videos will Surface one day, and Hope it’s the Full City Gardens show and In better Audio Quality, And not all super distorted just as the only remaining source of the City Gardens show of the AMT #1 VHS.
Wow. This is a find. I was going to SCSU right down the street at this time and my roommate was a fan of the band months before they hit big. I remember seeing the Nevermind cd in our Farnham Hall dorm room like it was yesterday.
I was only 6 at the time and I (and my family) remember me throwing a fkn fkn because my sister who was 13 years older than me got to go to this show but I wasn't allow (obviously lol)
I know a lot of people claim to have been at this show... we were. At this one and the previous one with about 20 people during a snow storm. We took them to eat at Mamoun's after the show. Good times. Great memories.
This it SOOOO good. I have Ziegler's DVD of the master vid, but the sound is WAAAAY better on this. I assume your DVD of this is equal to the Ziegler video quality? I'd love your master DVD of this version PLEASE. You rock
Dave Grohl is on fire in this show. He's miles ahead of Chad Channing. The last Nirvana video I saw was their show at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor in 1990.
Hello there. Thank you for kindly responding to my genuine question from four years ago. As you can see, I'm still watching this video on a regular basis and highly regard this video as my favorite live recording of Nirvana, which also happens to be my favorite band. I'm glad to see that we share similar music tastes. As for your trite response, I can see you've adapted the kind of "edgy sarcasm" perceived as an aggressive comedic device to gain a modicum of internet recognition of which holds no actual value in the real world. I, on the same note, argue endlessly as a pseudo-intellectual against cynics like yourself in a thinly-veiled attempt of the exact same goal. So in the end, I'm arguing with a semi-sentient slab of meat whose mouth and anus could be mistaken for one another. This raises the question "who's the winner here?" My answer is there is none. Only losers.
Well, when he played some of the songs off of "Bleach", he had to use a very detuned guitar--basically "drop C" tuning: C, G, C, F, A, D. He'd need to to match the pitch on the record, at any rate.
Nirvana's best live show in my opinion.
I agree this or the paramount r my favorite ones
One of the most energic indeed. Not bored of playing "smells like..." as it was in the beginning, great audience, Kurt even laughs sometimes. Nice ambiance!

This was two days after Nevermind was released. The quiet before the storm.
Yes. I was there. It was a 15.00 cover and my friends didn't want to pay it. Boy did they miss out!
Nevermind dropped two days prior to this show. Smells Like Teen Spirit aired on MTV’s 120 Minutes 6 days later. The calm before the storm...
I was at this show thank you for the memories
I know what you mean
Christopher Thomas Villano Good times...

this is THEE most INTIMATE concert I have ever seen of nirvana. THIS IS SPIRITUAL!
