Unlike most games, many of Goldeneye"s levels feel like real, functional places where people might live or work. Some corridors lead to dead ends. Certain rooms exist with no in-game purpose or objective to complete. Facility has a dang bathroom, for goodness sakes. It adds a nice bit of realism often absent in first person shooters.
Excellent video. I never really thought about it before but now that you mention it, when I think about Goldeneye I absolutely think about Facility. As a level in an FPS game it really has to be one of the best of all time and it's influence can be seen in modern stealth action games like the Hitman series! As a veteran of Goldeneye, I didn't even know about the different text 006 could have at the end! I hope to see some more videos from you soon, this was very well done.
It is amazing how much GoldenEye influenced not just console shooters but, shooters in general. It is credited as an influence on Thief, Half-Life and Deus Ex. The AI used a late predecessor of a Behavior Tree and navigation meshes. It helped pave the way for many of the games to follow.
Facility is just iconic. Goldeneye was the first game I was drawn to as a teenager, since then I've 10000s of hours of halo, COD, fortnite and many other shooters but nothing will ever match the feeling of playing facility for the first time. It still holds up all these years later, I got it on xbox and have not put it down for over a week. Competed it all on OOAgent and have about 4 cheats left to do.
I've really enjoyed playing on the remaster on Series X. The updated controls, coupled with UA-cam videos in the modern age, means I was finally able to get the cheat. I must've tried so many times back on the N64, but would be nowhere near the time limit. As mentioned in this video, speed running is now such as massive thing, it's a shame they didn't update the game to show more precise timing. Only seeing seconds isn't precise enough...
The target for the cheat it was also impossible for me as a kid, so once, i was at a friend's place after school, so I couldn't pass to my place to get my golden eye game, so we ended up renting it at blockbuster for the weekend. When we plugged it in, and we checked the cheats already obtained, the one from facility was already there!!!! we were shocked because it was impossible for us, so I called my mom and told her that when she comes to pick me up, she must bring my golden eye game. Sunday arrived, she brought my game, and we switched the blockbuster stickers and barcodes so i could keep their golden eye with the invisible cheat unlocked Last week I played the xbox version and I did the 2:05 time, I wanted to call blockbuster to let them know, but mehhh, they're out of business lol
That level on multiplayer is simply amazing.
So much fun planting remote mines in the bathroom
Single Player of this level is pure classic stuff

This was so fun to watch. Really brings me back. Thanks!
Me and my Buddy's spent countless hours on this game. One of the best with a lot of Replay value.
Very well done video. I never saw it that way, but Facility is truly special.

On Xbox? Hmm… the original is N64. The sequel was not good.
@@Bosn1ac I mean when It come out again on xbox. I got the orignal on n64 on christmas 1997, like 6 months after it come out. hmmm... fuck you on.
Fantastic video. Nostalgia overload
Great video!
I agree with you on 100% on this level it was the hardest one to do but the most satisfying
The reason for the glassware hidden up high is something all developers do as a joke because no one ever looks up.
Getting golden eye as a 7 year old as first game ever is probably the most perfect constellation in the universe
Good video. I like the way you sound.

Cool story man. Nostalgic!
I agree on everything except the best track in the game part sorry but we all know best track in the game is Control 😘
That's a funny way to spell Streets 🤔 (seriously though, every track in this game is an absolute banger)
👍
