    The Rex razors are true works of art. I was Phoenix, AZ last week and visited Razor Emporium while I was there and wished I had the extra money to spend on a Konsul. Unfortunately I didn't at the time of being in the store, but I'm hoping to possibly have one of my own some day. Happy to see you have one Mark and hope it brings you plenty of joy for years to come!

    Hi Mark- Great walk-through on the Konsul razor; thank you! Looking forward to the full shave video ahead. I was a bit late viewing this week’s MMMB, but thank you for the shout-out on the produce bands! Enjoy the rest of the week. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Mark!

    Hey Mark. I too had a problem with loading the blade in the Konsul at first also. I ended up using the metho that you showed. I can see where this would put off a lot of people and would discourage them from using this wonderful razor. Putting it in the handle was tough to keep the blade centered on top of the handle while fishing the head through the blade to tighten the bottom knob. If someone can do this fine, not me. I talked to Matt about this loading problem and suggested he have the alignment bars placed on the handle and the recession space on the cap. I have gotten use to this method and no longer have any problem.
    I use my Konsul about once a week and just love it.
    Take care and thank you for passing this info along.

      John, it appears you stumbled upon this blade loading solution as did I and JimiV. It's a good workaround. So far, I'm very impressed with the razor. And the very slight modification needed to load a blade is certainly not a deal-breaker. Thanks for confirming how wonderful this razor is.

    Congratulations on the Konsul, it’s beautiful for sure:) the second method is definitely better for loading the blade, you know for sure it’s seated correctly.

      Hi Mark that’s a nice looking razor. I own a Rex Envoy which I am delighted with and the inspector who checked mine was EM. If I was younger and was going to get many years of use or had a son to leave it to I would buy one.

    Nice video. Beautiful razor. All the Rex razors look very beautiful but too expensive for me. I realy don’t need a slant anyway. I will stick to my current razors. I am looking forward to the shave review of the Konsul.

    Yes indeed! As we chatted about, loading the cap with a flexed blade has become 2nd nature. Fast and accurate! I load the Konsuls and the Ambassadors the same way. No possibility of blade shift and boom, it's locked in.
    I can't say enough good things about the Konsul. 3-2-1 and done! 😊

    I will have to try that method the next time I use my Konsul, as inserting the blade always irritates me. I love the end results attainable with the Konsul, but the ergonomics just aren't as good for me as my Ambassador or my Envoy XL. I've said before that the perfect razor would be the Ambassador with the 3.5" XL handle and the shaving comfort and efficiency of the Konsul without the slant. Anyway they are all good razors although too expensive, and the stand is way too big and stupidly priced and I'd never buy one. I got some cheaper aluminum stands on Amazon instead.

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  2 роки тому +2

      Chris, loading the blade by pinching it into the cab has become second nature for me. Very easy to do. I'm enjoying the Konsul razor. I also thoroughly enjoy using my Envoy. I agree, they are all very good razors

      If you like blade feel, get the Ambassador. If you don't want any blade feel unless you crank it up, get the Konsul. 😃

    Mark - much has been said that removal of the blade in the Konsul is difficult. Have you had any problems with this and if so, how have you solved the problem?

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  Рік тому +1

      Wally, if I recall correctly, there have been a few times when the blade adheres to the cap. I don't think it's happened that often and pretty much depends on the blade. Some blades, I guess, have a slightly tighter fit then others. In all honesty, I'll have to shave with it again and make a note if it happens. Then I can report back. Because I don't think it registered with me as a glaringly nuisance kind of thing.

    If I can give an honest opinion, you would think for the price of this razor, they would not make it so difficult to load a blade. To me that doesn’t make much sense. It is however a good looking razor, I just can’t justify spending that much money.

    Hi Mark! Glad to see you've got a Konsul, they are quite expensive at around $400 with some options which is too rich for me :D. I don't really think an adjustable slant is worth that price, especially for stainless steel. I have the Rex Ambassador and that's close enough to the Konsul for me! Hope you enjoy the razor and get some great shaves from it.

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  2 роки тому +2

    Took me a minute to realise this wasn’t actually a shave video 🙄. Maybe I’m wrong in this but in the way you load the blade into the cap it looks like the blade bends slightly but not when put on the razor would does this make any difference to blade feel or performance

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  2 роки тому +1

      Robert, the blade is going to bend/twist regardless of method used to load. The idea in loading the blade by pressing it into the cap, is to make sure the tabs are exposed in order to position and align correctly with the slots in the base plate.
