Check out this video on Color Grading Basics in Davinci Resolve → ua-cam.com/video/Gz_QzBdHDYc/v-deo.html
**UPDATE** - Toggling the timeline snapping is defaults to the "N" key, not to "S" like I had mentioned in the video. That is from my custom layout.

    If anyone wants the notes:
Vertical scroll wheel - scroll wheel
Horizontal scroll wheel: command + scroll
Vertical Zoom (track size): shift + scroll
    Horizontal Zoom: option + scroll
    Arrow keys help move playhead
For a full second (shift + right arrow)
    Down arrow: end of clip
    Up arrow: Start of clip
To nudge a clip to the right by one frame: period
    -To the left: comma
-To go five frames add shift plus period/ comma
Turn Snapping tool on and off by using S
Use snapping tool to move clip by a frame at a time
Trim mode: automatically moves clip so it puts it against where the edit was
To go back to regular mode (selection mode) - V
To enable or Disable Clips: D
Cut where playhead is: command + b
    Ripple Delete: shift + delete
Ripple Trimp to right of playhead: shift+command+]
Ripple trim start to playhead: shift+command+[
To paste settings onto another clip, hit command+C then highlight desired clip to paste and hit Alt+V to paste specific attributes
Temporarily unlink clips: Option + Select
Use Auto Track Selector to turn off so all tracks don’t get impacted by edit
Select clips forward one track: Y
Select clips behind playhead one track: Command Y
Select clips forward all tracks: option + Y
Select clips back all tracks: option + command + Y

    Some cool functions are:
    1) Power Bins. They are really powerful. Allowing you to put your frequently used media into it, like memes, music, and sound effects. In a new project, you then pull the folders into the project master folder and are now able to search everything. It is much much faster than having to search everything in the windows file explorer. The structure could look like this:
    Master
    - audio
    - footage
    - memes
    - music
    - sound effects
    - stock footage
Having the footage in its separate folder makes the project explorer look really clean.
    2) Adjustment layers can be amazing to save time. Not just for color grading but I also put effects on them. For example, if I have static footage where I want to add a little movement I put camera shake on the adjustment layer do my settings once, and then put the adjustment layer into the power bin so I can always reuse it.
    3) If you have effects you frequently use with similar settings use the ability to save to make presets.

Organization is key!! 😂 I set all my clip colors to the number keys and F keys so when I’m cutting I just press one button and it automatically colors that for me. I have a system with those and when I review clips I know which color is used for what. Especially if you have gaming clips.

If you want to reset the transform options after you moved something around (zoom, moved up, etc) when a clip is selected, double click the option you want to change. Example being if you want to reset the zoom, just double click the word zoom and it goes back to its original position.

One of the things me and my coworker hot keyed is "Auto Align Clips By Waveform" and "Unlink/Relink Clips" Toggle. Super helpful if you're making a lot of short videos with external mic audio.
Also, keep premade intros and outros in a master bin if you're working across different projects!

If there's not a shirt available that says Time is Money and Money is Coffee soon, I'm going to be highly disappointed Dunna. Solid tips man! I think the only one I would have added is all of the JKL functions:
    J: Play in Reverse
    K: Pause
    L: Play
Hold K and J/L: Play in Slow Motion
Hold K and Tap J/L: Move forward/backward by one frame
Also, tapping J or L while the video is playing will increase the speed.

Also to edit a bunch of transitions in tons of clips layered like 5 or 6 you can add multiple transitions of one transition by right clicking the transition and the bottom option. Great video dude got my sub

Yeah it’s tough when you get a bunch of add ons for a program and then switch to another one.

    Dear Dunna,
Thanks for great Info on Davinci resolve!
    May i ask you,
Q1) is it possible to work with gopro hero9 and DJI mini2 HVEC/H.265 files now with Davinci Resolve 17 free version now?
Q2) Does Davinci Resolve 17 free version use GPU while editing or rendering?

I’m not 100% on this but I believe you need the studio version for h.265 files (or at least 10bit files) and I’m not sure about the gpu. Some people say that there are performance boosts with the paid version but it’s never been made very clear to me

I know pretty much nothing about PC’s so I don’t think I’m the right person to advise you here haha. My advice would be… get a Mac. And that’s terrible advice if that’s not what you want lol
