    41:16: it's actually the flamespitter who is reacting to you. During my playthrough, I accidentally alerted him and noticed, that he is just a retextured guard. When you approach him after you alert him, he will attack you :D

    I used the elevator to get rid of that mutant in the basement. Just move the elevator in its upper position, open the doors, get on top the elevator and start making some noice to lure that thing outside. Don't even need to press the button to move the elevator platform down again in order to smash it.

    That goblet was being sneaky lol, also yea i was expecting the shrine area to be a little more involved, maybe even related to the curse you have but well.

    33:58 If I remember correctly, alerting those horses can actually set nearby guards off to a second alert. I'm not sure if that behavior is present anywhere else in the series or in other FMs, but I thought it was a very believable way of having a rather innocuous "alert" lead to larger ramifications.

    You should also try the fm raven creek if you havent. It is not as good as the black parade is, but still. It has prety damn good hd models like chair or just furniture.

      I have played some of Christine's missions, but they're not entirely my cup of tea. Maybe I'll try this one day though.

    Joined the live chat for this one so I don’t have much else to add here but just one readable that I want to comment on that I didn’t notice at the time:
    2:24:00 - This reference to transmutation might be another Deadly Shadows reference. Gamall uses a glyph of transmutation to take other forms. So I don’t know if one of the mage guards is assisting her or is in fact Gamall in disguise. I could be way off here though.
    I think your final review is interesting, even if I don’t fully agree with it. For me, M9 is the perfect Thief experience, it has all the elements I love in a mission. I think it can be easy to forget that the original games did not really have many puzzles, I can only recall Bonehoard having true puzzles. So for me, too many puzzles or other non-intuitive or overly difficult gameplay is not at all in line with an authentic Thief experience.
    Even as someone, I think like yourself, that has played Thief going on 25 years and therefore needs more challenge, TBP generally provides a sufficient level of challenge in my opinion. I think the pacing and overall tone of the mission would have been thrown off if the team had decided to add another layer to it with the sepulchre. In fact I was relieved when I got down there and saw there was nothing else to do! It would have been too much after something similar in M8.
    Looking forward to seeing the finale whenever you get to it and the final comments on the campaign!

      Interesting points. I discuss the campaign's difficulty as well as gameplay to some extent towards the end of the finale.

    May I ask you where you’re from originally? You mentioned that you live in the States for 15 years. Just curious cause your american English is so good

      I was born and raised in Norway and moved to the US when I was 28. I learned English in school and my college degree was in English, plus I lived in Australia for a bit. But my first language is Norwegian.

    It's interesting to hear your thoughts about each mission, IMO this is still among the 4 or 5 top missions in the campaign even if mainly credit to the layout and scenery, the gameplay and mission progression is strangely stunted as it peaks in the first third with the festivities and the conversation and then devolves into a standard "rob the place dry" thing offering just so slightly boring exploration of the place even with the interesting interiors. My suspicion/feeling from this mission is (also given the care that very clearly went into aesthetics and scenery of the place) that this was originally meant to be the pinnacle of the campaign with a huge fight between the guards and the mages not long after Iarodo strikes alarm, there are more than enough hints about something brewing there between the guard faction secretly answering to the Baron and the mages refusing to turn over the keep to the City but it seems this was cancelled for some reason - technical or other (I tried to reach Skacky privately specifically on this but the chat function on a certain site doesn't seem to be working as intended). Pity they didn't go bold on this one and played it safe instead, could be among the all time greats.
    The monster BTW seems to be the result of a "technical spell failure" or somesuch according to readables somewhere, it is actually a cursed/transformed guard.

      That's an interesting take on the fight being the last showdown. I have gotten verified info from the design team that the necromancers being the antagonists was set very early on in development, so I'm not sure if I agree with your suspicions.

      I can confirm that there was never meant to be any fight between the mages and guards; this mission came out exactly as planned

    I lured a sword guard, the one with a real helmet, into the lab, feel no remorse at all, it was a honorable death, lol
    The two headed ogre is a recreation of a discarded prototype featured in early Dark Project (Camelot?) trailer, so cool they recreated it
    Overall - my second favourite mission after the Keepers Tower, in no small part thanks to beautiful sunset (dare I say it, worthy of the OG Unreal), fireworks and street performers, I could watch them for hours!

    Ugh, I do not like this mission. Way too many locked doors that can't be picked and no keys that I can find.

      Yeah but that's only to force you to your first goal. Things change and open up after that.

      @@klatre I just realized it's broken for me. The statue does not talk when I click on it, nothing happens. No wonder I was feeling like I hit a dead end.

      @@klatre yeah I had a similar issue in mission 8 also with an interactive statue (the one with the silk strings). I had to skip to the next mission to progress. So something must be hosed with my setup.
