I was a Marvel reader back in the 70s reading these sort of titles in singles. I loved them at the time but boy it’s amazing reading the omnis now how wordy they are and the level of superfluous exposition that is employed. Have just finished DD Vol 1 which took me nearly 2 months. Am looking forward to this - just got to find the time!!! Thanks for the review and glad that you enjoyed it
I really appreciate this feedback! I always wonder what people following month to month during this era felt. I agree this early Bronze Age stuff can definitely be dense. I can’t remember if I mentioned it in this review but this Luke Cage omnibus took a few months for me to finally make my way all the way through. I enjoyed it but will likely just sample my favorites if I ever go back to re-read rather than read

@@TheComicBookReport at least back in the day you had a month between issues - you needed it to get thru all the text!!! But really like that you picked a relatively obscure Omni to review. Am looking forward to the Bronze Age Iron Fist next year too - that’s another fave from the mid-70s period
@@garyfoster65 thanks yeah! I think my channel leans more modern books but I definitely appreciate some older stuff in there and try to review when I can. This was a book I was always curious about so happy for the opportunity to finally check it out :)

Yeah I enjoyed what I saw in the show
I would think the book is worthy of a higher grade than "C" considering how well-produced it is, the inclusion of letters pages and extras, etc. It would be more fair to rate the collection effort separately from the original source material, meaning 2 grades.
This is a very fair comment. If I am grading the production of the edition itself I would have graded this higher. It is a well-made Bronze Age omnibus and really feels like such an interesting time capsule read-captures a unique historic moment.
I think for me the grade I give will take into account edition/format/physical book quality but will more often be weighed by my feeling about the content of the stories, which in this case was a tad lackluster for me. I still enjoyed a good handful of the stories though.

Nice! Yeah this is a Bronze Age boom so style is a bit dated but there were some very fun issues in here and overall just fascinating to see this character’s origins
Haven't really read anything focusing on him outside of a few team ups with Black Panther and his time on the New Avengers
