fast and easy way to remove paint is with a wire wheel and a drill...it's also a good way to get into the tight places in the chainstay area etc... alternatively you can also burn it off(but that has other issues) :)... hey my bike is the same orange :) I'm a top load stem guy..it's just more convenient for any adjusting and also provides more height..I'm just over 6'. like 6 1/4...I also push my bars forward a little breaking the perpendicular plane to the ground...like in the 80's :) you keep making videos, and I'll keep liking them.
Greetings! Nice project! Took your advise almost a year ago and bought the colony apprentice for me and a fit PRK for my wife. Flatland is soo hard lol. Its been wonderful just riding them around the city! Thanks for the tips and content! 🤙✌️
Ya I remember you saying you got those bikes. How have you liked the colony apprentice? Ya flatland is super difficult. It can take a really long time to get a single basic trick mastered. For me, I think of it as my exercise since I don’t care much for going to the gym, or running, etc.
@@flatlandjourney I put odyssey clear brake pads on both. What a difference! A bit noisy though. Double wall rims next for sure. I tweaked the Fit back wheel while just relearning how to J hop. What do you think is the starter of starter flatland tricks? Edit Apprentice is great. Love it. Perfect recommendation! Thank you!
Hey turned out really nice, im been wanting to get in to flatland and some street stuff and realised i had a old gt performer from 2005 layin around in my parents shed, got a new headset and a new handlebar. Im pretty tall, 6.1 but hope this will bike will do to starts with?
Hey I’ve been watching all your videos and there awesome! I had a question I want to get into flatland but am having trouble finding a bike. I’m 5’11 would a 18.5-9 be to small of a frame. I’m having trouble finding any information on what size TT I should have as a taller rider or if it matters? Thank you
Hey, thanks for watching! I’m so stoked to see another person getting into flatland. You would probably be just fine riding an 18.8 or 18.9 frame. I know that far East cycles sells a complete bike that you can get on eBay. Also, the colony apprentice would be ok for you. However you would probably be better off with a 19.5”TT, which are difficult to find in a complete flatland bike. However, there is the Ares Sword that is a pretty good deal. I have heard that the freecoaster hub on the bike doesn’t last long though. But that bike would probably be the best fit.
Ya I totally did get the chain inside out. I started riding it and could feel something off about it. Then I realized it was on the wrong way, so I changed it. Much better now.
Love it! you did an amazing job!
Thanks so much. This was a fun project. I hope to do more like it in the future.

paint jobs are tricky - the last 1% of preparation does 99% of the result :) :)
